I'm not bringing anything new to the table but at first I was going to go with 'Don't care' since I usually play characters who talk their way out of everything if possible so I don't give a rat's *** if I get xp from killing or not but decided to go with 'for' because 1. I want to see it first hand how it works in PE before I start raging (and I do find it intriguing). And this objective based xp worked on Bloodlines and I see no reason why it wouldn't work in PE too. 2. As I was reading the official update thread (I think I destroyed some of my brain cells reading that), I thought that those who are in favor overall had better arguments. 3. And this is the most important one: Obsidian thinks this is the way to go. The idiot that I am, I actually trust Obsidian 100%. If after the game is released and the objective based xp turns out to be a failure, I'm sure I will be one of the many saying in the end it was a bad idea, better luck next time and moving on..

Great update! Tempted to put $10 more for those playing cards.. You can use services like "viaddress.com" for receiving goods in USA and then from there ship to europe. When you ship you can declare any value for the goods.... Huh, might have to check that viaddress out. Thanks!

Pledge up, everyone!
Apatia replied to HumanFlesh+5's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I've said it once and I'll say it again: the reason there's no italian translation is probably closer to them not finding anyone who would do it for cheap than not wanting to and ignoring the request. Translations costs a lot of money. And this is from Update #16 And did any Italians ask if they could do the translation for Obsidian? Found this from MCA's twitter: http://twitter.com/Sapaira/status/255986827670986752 -
Seriously? People dropping pledges because of CHARACTER PORTRAITS? Umm... yeah, priorities. And don't give me that "but those are ugly and they reflect my character's personality etc" crap when you probably can make your own portraits for the characters if you want. You could in IWD1/2, NWN1/2 and BG1/2 and I see no reason why you couldn't in PE.

Then you're not that 'old school lover'. In the really old school rpgs you had to make the whole party yourself. In any case, 2.6 mil stretch goal does not affect on the companions so I don't really care. I usually like companions with personalities etc but I do welcome the possibility to do my own party if I want to.

While Oblivion isn't a PnP company, I can't see that as being a real obstacle. At the very least, Chris Avellone wrote for PnP games before getting into video games, and JE Sawyer has written a PnP system for Fallout. What is this Oblivion company that you speak of? Joking aside, I think Feargus said in KS comments in the first week or so that they have been playing with the idea of making PE p&p game if this game sells well. Or something like that. Or at least they would love to expand the franchise to a p&p game.

If they gave us exclusive quest or area then yea that would be a bad idea but I wouldn't call a pet that does nothing and is entirely optional "content". Yes $50+ backers gets it exclusively but so what? I mean there's no quest involved around it. No items, no NPC etc. It's just there, following you, not helping in combat... just staring you while you sleep with its dead, cold eyes...

PayPal Support is Now Live
Apatia replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Might be better if a dev would give an official answer but I'd say yes. I see no reason why they wouldn't let you choose between Steam or GOG version if you donated via Paypal. -
From your post, you sounds like you can understand English just fine. Given the choice, its always better to stick to the original language if you have no trouble understanding it as things do get lost in translation. Of course it will always be nice if it supports Italian too. I wouldn't worry about Italian translation. I could be wrong but I think they're trying to get the translation in one way or another. The reason they haven't announced it yet is closer to them not finding anyone who would do it (for cheap) than not wanting to do it at all. Not making any empty promises and all that...

Do you also feel insulted when they translate Japanese games into English? Why should he be insulted? None of those are his native language.

Huh, just noticed they have tweaked the $2.0 million stretch goal: "Get your own house in the game that you can customize, store equipment in, and where your companions hang out, or, as the elves say, "chillax". Adds new NPCs, a store with unique new armor, clothing and weapons and.... more quests to adventure on." Never noticed it before but that's awesome. Thank you Obsidian. I'd throw more money in if I could but $280 is already more than I can afford (who needs food anyway?)
