  1. Yes he did in his blue jacket. But the underlining meaning of the story and the history of Goethe himself is what makes this such a great novel. Goethe IS Werther, most of what happened to werther is how he felt about a young woman who he could never get. Also the things that happen in our lives stay with us forever, so we should becareful of what we choose to do. Goethe didnt actually Kill himself over this young girl. He stuck with his creative writing ability and shared this novel to the world, he rose above his condition. Nietzche dubbed him the uber mensch. The man that over comes.
  2. Enders Game - I can really connect with the main character, this novel is very heart driven to me. Platos Dialogs- To understand the Greeks is to understand Western Civilization. The Sorrow of Young Werther - I had a break up with a girl after a 9 year relationship. This book is exactly what i needed Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep - This is just a fun sci fi book with a lot of philosophical ideas inside Snow Crash - Another fun Sci Fi book, with heavy overtones of religion and bad ass characters. The Diamond Age - An interesting Sci Fi about a poor girl getting a ideal education through a special book that makes her into someone great Wicked: Life and Times of The Wicked Witch of the West - This gem paints a different sensitive portrait of the wicked witch, humanizing. Faust: Part 2 - Goethes 2nd installment of a man going through a middle age crisis. Brave New World - 1984 was excellent but i like the message this one brings more about how an age of science wont necessarily bring peace. Lolita - Art. This novel is beautifully twisted, disturbingly stunning. If you guys think you might know something that i might like from looking at that list let me know!
  3. All i know is that if you do her, where a condom. She'll try to say shes on birth control and then BAM! your stuck with a parasite for the rest of your living hell.
  4. in that quote i was talking about the amount of care per dollar, gorgon, not quality (which could lead to poorer quality overall, but that's not what i was arguing). please, no more strawmen. rationing is a basic problem of socialized anything. supply is limited and for most, if not all products/services, supply and demand are not equal. the free market adjusts by increasing/decreasing the price to the point that demand is reduced/increased to meet supply. socialized systems do not have such a mechanism. demand for health care services far outweighs supply, and as a result, someone has to decide who gets what care. rationing. notice, very little of what i argue is about my "personal conviction," i.e, my "feelings" about this. it is about what can logically work, and what has actually happened. and, for the record, nearly 50% of the US health care system is already socialized (medicare, medicaid, military/government employee* health care plans). those systems cost far, far more than politicians ever thought they would, so it's not like we don't already have evidence in our own back yards that i'm right about this. taks * 47% was the last i saw, and i'm not sure if the government employees fall into this, though i would be surprised if they didn't. Is your premise that everything comes down to economics and not people?
  5. ramza, Since you can preorder the new windows for $50, I would defiantly put some cash down on Windows 7. Its worth the risk. If they were selling it for $199 at the start, I would hold off until all the bugs have been fixed. Where do you get it for only $50? Which edition is it? On MS's website Ultimate is $199. Whoever is a student and wants Windows 7 Upgrade click on the link to get it for $30 bucks.
  6. when it's all said and done, this is the fundamental problem with your argument. you believe in equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. there is no "balance between libery and equality." the equality of opportunity is liberty, the equality of outcome is tyranny. taks The equality of opportunity sounds great especially if won wins the genetic lottery and gets born into a rich family and or healthy background. Some can't control that. We are products of nature and nurture and a large part of the nurturing comes from the guidance of the state. Therefore we are products of this government to a limited degree. So some would suggest we owe it to ourselves not to take advantage of our fellow men by not allowing another to take an unfair sum of money without compensation. In other words, tax the super rich, have estate taxes, and find ways for our fellow working man to help his condition. I'm not talking about destroying Wall street, or capping anyone's salary. I'm just looking for reforms so our government does not collapse do to the shift of money towards the already rich. This is getting dangerous is it not? What is our society going to look like if the top CEO's make 70X more then the common working man in 50 years if the trend keeps going like it is? - Im thinking the middle class with be destroyed, students will be in further debt trying to pay for there expensive professional degrees, manufacturing job salaries will lower, benefits lower, nobody buys anything because they have lower wages, wall street worsens... you see the trend. Yes, Im proposing the equality of outcome by a national health care option. and its not tyrannical if its by consent of the populous Tak, I'm not going to take myself down to your level but this is basic Lockean ideas. We have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. lives are at stake due private insurers. Thus we have a right, nay a duty to reform this. I believe someone asked for this. -
  7. Lets try to keep emotions out of reasoning this through please. I dont wish to get angry at anyone. Yet more money is being printed and no more is being paid out. The democrats had to scramble to get minimum wage up a measly little bit. My name is Theseus Tak. Lets keep this civil please. I know you feel big behind your keyboard, but please come down from your tower when speaking to me if you ever want me, or anyone for that matter to listen to what you are saying. Our health care is not preventive thus everything is an emergency when we wait to the last fatal minute to fix something. When we wait that long usually we have to do the more expensive procedures. Perhaps if we had a more perfect system of medical practice based not on profit but on healing, then we could fix this problem. That is what I'm proposing. Yes i do believe health care is expensive when it is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the United States. If you want to debate lets try to keep on topic. Keep the discussion meaty. Lets not get base please. I Do not believe CEO's are worth millions of dollars a year. People are getting cheated when an excessive amount of money is being siphoned to one person at the top of the ladder. Nobody is worth 40X more in monetary value to a common working man. If this trend occurs where the rich keep getting richer our way of life as we know it will be destroyed. We all live together and effect each other. I do not think its responsible to ignore our duties to our society when our society is what brought us up. health care for all as i said is a way to disperse that money. My main point as a paraphrased earlier is to balance liberty and equality. For they effect each other deeply. Sure things get messy when we let a government run public schools but much goodness has come from it. And it helps us maintain a higher level of living then otherwise. I believe A national public health care option would also help the united states also.
  8. I typed 40X more not 40K More. In the 60's some made 11X more then the common worker, now its 40X more. Money is rapidly finding its way quicker to the rich then ever before. There needs to be a balance of equality in the united states if the rich are going to keep hording all the monopoly money. people are getting screwed fatally from private insurance companies, and health insurance is double the price then many other countries, where people live longer healthier lives. sigh i feel like everyone knows this information and we just are set in our ideas. The selfish will remain so and the others will struggle. Meanwhile i have insurance, and perhaps like the Jews, Im thinking " Oh it wont ever happen to me" I wont lose my insurance or get denied coverage. Even though my premiums are already through the roof. The UK does have a ssytem where you can pay for "better" healthcare even though there is universal care btw. Take care Aristes!
  9. There should be some distributive equality with all the liberties the rich have in this country. The economy is located within a small select few. 90 percent of the money is owned by the the top single digit percent pop. When a man can make 40X or even more then the common working man, something is rotten in denmark. Universal Healthcare is one way to help adjust the equality. There has to be a balance of liberty and equality tak. That is vital. And Life is part of a part of the US's natural rights, so be it. Thank you Locke.
  10. Just letting everyone know... Kotor 1 is now available on STEAM.
  11. I think the graphics are still pretty today!
  12. A lot of humans took abuse at concentration camps and other parts of history. Not to say they are cowards, just saying they took a lot of abuse. Many timse to get riled up people have to be at a breaking point, perhaps some peoples breaking point starts when you remove other necessities rather then life and death situations. Great movie! It was campy, gritty, dark and puts a twist on how humans would react to aliens if they were nice, possibly more realistic in some ways.
  13. Its lie asking what your favorite movie or album is! It depends on what mood really! I've never played any Quest for glory games nor the space quest shockingly since I loved so many other SIERRA games like Kings quest series, Gabriel knight Series, Phantasmagoria 1, and a police Quest game. All of which I played start to finish. My favorite games in general are usually the test and quest type of games like ZELDA, Kings Quest, Kotor and Vampire Bloodlines. But I end up playing Unreal Tournament 2004 more then anything since its so easy to pick up any time on multiplayer. Hmmm I think my favorite game if we went on a point system would probably be Knights of the old Republic. It was amazing to me, still is quite good! A classic!
  14. I thought the first Underworld was jolly good fun. The second one seemed a little drawn out in places, but the action at the end was good. I would watch the third but I'm kinda not interested in the history, you know. I sorta already know what happens. Are there any surprises in the film or anything? Any Surprises? . . . You hit the nail on the head with this statement.
  15. Sounds like that would be a really thick coating of ingrediants packed on to that steak. Does it have a crust or shell around it by the time its done? It sounds tasty! Heres my recipe for when i want something unhealthy! I call the pizza place. Order the deluxe with a coke. Then in abut a half hour i get off my ass and open the door and voila the pizza is done. So i then take it out of the box and grab a pre-sliced piece. Put it on a clean dish while reaching in the cupboard for a clean glass realizing they are all in the dish washer. So I drink out of the bottle. Hey Im a bachelor! Serioulsy though. Ribs Babyback pork Ribs. With A hand rub of Seasoning Salt, Cinnamon, Chopped Garlic and a dash of Garlic powder ( I love garlic) Then put on your favorite BBQ Sauce if you dont make your own. My Favorite is called Sticky Fingers Cold Ribs are so good too! MMMmmm Other then that I try to keep it healthy. Organic and light with complex carbs and NO POP. Im a sadist!
  16. PC Port is good, i would be surprised really if the xbox looks better then the settings i have my PC on. The complaints were mostly because people couldn't max out there settings in the game, due to the dependancy on the CPU. My settings aren't set high at all but it looks great still! I just wish it had AA because on a computer monitor unlike a tv one is going to see that easier.
  17. Speaking of vampire movies i just saw Underworld: Rise of the lycans. Ehhh It wasn't terrible. if thats a positive statement lol I liked the other 2 Underworlds a heck of a lot better. I want to have Kate Beckinsales illigitamate children MUHAHAHA seriously. I have Quantum of Solace at my house now too. I love netflixs <3
  18. Yep Microshaft wants to boost there XBox 360 exclusive titles list. Booooooooo!
  19. No idea, but I'd overclock that C2D to the high heavens. No need so far, even Crysis runs on maximum in 1680 by 1050, well above 35fps. But you could run it at 60fps... I get what you're saying, its just that there's three games a year that use even this hardware, and they for the most part aren't worth playing ...I finally get the cash to buy a good rig, only to find out that there's nothing to run on it I have a E6600 C2D rith a 8800GT 512 graphic card and it runs like butter. A lot of bugs have been fixed since the patches have came out that smooth a lot of it out. I wouldnt worry to much.
  20. Yes having the actual game manual is handy! I dislike ha ing to my my game and exit it then search in the directory for the pdf manual. Also i like relaxing on the john while reading the manuals lol Got to read something! The STEAM version of GTA4 is lacking in that the nice maps and manuals are all just pdf's. Its lame. But if i got a cheaper price for it then it was worth it. It really comes down to money and convienence for me. Steam is convenient.
  21. Id rather have a physical copy of a book then something on scribd. Its a similar subject. Am I materialistic?
  22. been playing a little Batman Arkham Asylum DEMO off of STEAM ... Its actually decent. I like it. Its a bit simplified but i love the atmosphere of the game. I recommend checking it out!
  23. LoL Darth Windu look at it this way. People wont complain about your mod since they know it wont get done by the time the other one is. So you wont have to defend your team for its procrastination anymore.

    Books

Stranger In A Strange Land by R. Heinlein I'm digging it, The main character is a bit dull in his actions but his eccentric poet steals the book for me!
