I never even heard of official potato vodka before. There's potato moonshine obviously but even then grain 'shiners in my parts used to look down on tater 'shiners for being cheapskate philistines of booze...or so I heard.

What do you mean, tech advances? Hardware did not change that drastically since Dark Descent, or are you about that VR nonsense and such? In any way, this be my Day 1 purchase, as fear does not come from hardware, but from the heart.

I love mushroom season almost as much as I love King Boletes baked in butter with cream sauce

In the second and for the whole length of tutorial dungeon. And later, whatever she can do, Jan Jansen can do better.

Aaaah yes, the girl I go to "save" when there are no sidequests left anymore and who has to hike home through Underdark, because no way I'm dropping someone useful for her. This is my way to go since the very first playthrough, as if I knew about "Heya it's me, Imoen!!!1"x1000 even though I haven't played BG1 (which sucks) until much later.

Never played it, looked up the fight on the 'tube. Seems to be of similar awfulness.

Finished "Bound by flame". Well, kind of. Lost to boss a couple of times, decided I'm too old for this and watched the ending on youtube because, a) worst boss fight ever, worse even than "Two worlds 2", b) I wasn't that invested in the story anyway. Anyway, the game really wanted me to do all that parrying and dodging crap which probably is no big deal with a controller but really annoying on the keyboard unless you're a centipede; fortunately, it also gave me fireballs so I could eventually ignore all that dancing with swords nonsense, still -- since I primed myself for not totally hating hack and slash -- I'm having a go at Witcher 2 again. Lessee if I get farther than tutorial this time. Also, someone on the writing team was reaaalllly into "Black company". Also², Keyrock, you were right, it was indeed so, so edgy mcedgelordy. I still liked the setting though, I'm a sucker for "The world is doomed but we still fight because what else is there to do?" thing.

I liked him when I played the game for the first time years ago, but found his shtick quite tiresome on the recent playthrough. And even then it's not exactly Minsc who's annoying, it's that disgusting little squeaky pest of his. Wish the game had some cat I could save from a tree and feed it that furry annoyance, so at least in death it would be of some use.

I prefer custom NPC parties for story heavy games like Pillars, but Wasteland's different, I loved its party creation and I still fondly remember my heroes Tom of Finland, Crazy Natasha, Gasmask Gertrude and Simo Hayha. As for W3, I was stupid enough to try and play W2 on launch, fooled me once, now I'm waiting a year at least, if not for "GOTY director's edition".

Finished "Technomancer", really liked it, in some aspects (sci-fi setting) more than "Greedfall". Additional fun is to see Spiders evolve throughout their games, and they also have their own quite distinctive style with themes and often used elements and stuff what is really good thing to have for a creative collective. Although I do wish for one of their favorite gameplay elements -- backtracking combined with respawning trash mobs-- to go away forever. Really wanted to do another playthrough different from "Lightning storm, shoot survivors in the back", but remembered that particular set of corridors I traversed, like 200 times before, fighting same trash again and again and....nah. Don't wanna. On to "Bound by flame" now. -
I vaguely remember kiting that bi†ch and her posse through the room with some golems, I think, plus some of them remained to grind Tristian into well-deserved pile of intestines and sh!t, so it all was much easier than engaging them all at once. Oh, and Worms? If you think this fight was bullsh!t, I have some bad news for you re: end game. Start psyching yourself for frustration and disappointment in advance.

Curious about that TB mode, looks more polished and explained than the mod, too bad I can't think of an interesting class to play (already did Grenadier, found everything else either boring or impossible to understand without reading f--ing tabletop rulebooks, like kineticist.

Technomancer is next in line, I bought both of them after Greedfall by the same devs, but I somehow overlooked Bound By Flame, will rectify that on the next sale on GOG. -
Nononono, you got it all backwards, it's the coronavirus vaccine that's going to give you 5G and a microchip...well except for that freshly announced Russian vaccine which will give you 2G and a VHS.

"Mars: War Chronicles", the eurojankpunk RPG. Love the environments and the science fiction'ish setting, combat is that eurojank's typical "roll-roll-roll-roll-smack" loop that I am never going to love, but I'm slowly getting accustomed to it, so if all goes well the day is nigh when I can finally go farther than the tutorial in "Witcher 2" -
I have ...unconventional memories about how this very party met a monitor lizard either to their way to Oleg's or from it and then both the party and the lizard proceeded to miss each other for something like 15 minutes. Wish I took a screenshot (or several of them, that was really loooong log) of that combat log, all those misses juxtaposed with what was happening on screen -- a bunch of people failing to hit a pony-sized lizard with swords and said lizard failing to bite these people -- was kind of funny in the "Are you even f--ing serious, game" way. My relationship with PK:M is this peculiar love-hate thing, when on the hate side I can instantly unroll the 5 metres long scroll with the list of grievances and annoyances of assorted caliber I'm still salty about even it's a year or so since I last played, but when asked why I loved it (which I did, oddly enough), I can only muster "...je ne sais quoi?" Maybe because it's obviously a labour of love by an enthusiastic, inspired and seemingly nice developers?

Whachatalkinabout, the giggity is still there, and not just on smugglers/agents, hunters/troopers also go "Dohohoho!" on some procc or another. I really didn't like it on my IA who was consummate professional to the marrow of his bones and would never giggle like insane schoolgirl whenever he shivved someone in the shins. (Still better than chipmunky soundbytes of that ghastly ewok pest of a companion; there were times when it was the most OP pet of them all, you couldn't make two steps on the fleet without one of them screeching at you ). -

Hey, you leave Gault alone! Best companion, ditched that boring ass cyborg teenager as soon as I got him, never looked back. I didn't mind that BH story was kind of episodic and disjointed. Like a series of anecdotes old hunters would share while sitting around space campfire. -

I heard f2p is less atrocious now than it used to be but that's not much of a praise since it was truly atrocious. Preferred status -- you get it by subbing once or buying something from game shop for real money -- is plenty enough if you don't plan to do end game raids or play Space Barbie by buying grossly overpriced garb from the game market. I'd say you try f2p and see if it works for you, if not then you can sub once for 15$, let the sub run out, then note what annoys you in preferred mode and then click on someone's referral link to get a free subscription week with all the perks so that you could buy missing QoL elements using game's currency. Microtransactions aren't too obnoxious in my improved preferred mode, but I remember ftp being like, *click anywhere* -- "LOL nope, this feature's unavailable to you, El Cheapo, now only if you subscribed..." No idea if they ditched this when remaking the f2p. -
This reminds me of c0cktail I used to love when I was young, called "Titanic". Take a pint of beer, preferably stout or porter, but works with any really, and drop a shot glass onto its surface to float. Then fill it with vodka until it sinks.

Imperial Agent should be played last, because, a) best story, others might seem kinda lacking in comparison, b) after finishing other stories, you will likely ask yourself "Why and more importantly how a bunch of idiot space wizards with long term planning capabilities of an angry toddler (and tantrum prone like one as well) can make, let alone maintain an empire?" Well, Agent story asks those questions too, so you might be nodding in agreement along the plot. Disagree about Bounty Hunter and Jedi Consular though. Consular's story is kinda disjointed between Act 1 and 2 and the super uninspired voice acting does them disservice, but being a Jedi diplomat was fun, especially compared to that juvenile wish fulfillment fantasy that passes for the Jedi Knight's story. And I loved those catty diplomats who hanged around the ship and offered comments after every mission. (Also I find Shadow/Assassin DPS class very much fun to play). Bounty Hunter I will love always for their habit to disrespect space wizards and their hockey religions all the time. Even their ship looks like it's double flipping the bird: -
