  1. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire just should be renamed: The Watcher II: Assassins of Gods. And The Watcher III would be an Openworld.
  2. Did someone mention rats? He's not a meme, but... He's a rat! I think there's something missing here. Or right, I know. A 'MGM intro'-style video.
  3. I grow up with Street Fighter II/Alpha series and Virtua Fighter/Fighting Vipers on the system I own, then played a bit on then friends' systems other fighting games such as the DBZ games, Soulcalibur, DOA, Capcom vs SNK... Later I got my hands on other capcom 2D titles (during the CPS-CPS2-32bits era), and liked the Darkstalkers/Vampire series. But in the end, those I liked the most are the SNK titles (or originally released on NeoGeo), Fatal Fury series (love Gary Densetsu Special - the NeoGeo/Saturn one, not really the Playstation one), World Heroes series, Samurai Shodown/Spirits series and the Last Blade series. Like the KoF series but not as much as the other SNK series. Sadly, my friends now like better 'casual' fighting games (like Smash Bros series) or don't even want to think about older games because... they're 'old'. While I'm not interested in new fighting games...
  4. Still on Awesome Protocol. Fond memories and the game is always fun to play. This one always makes me smile: Too bad we can't play few of its games
  5. [Finally managed to get it working on Linux w/ Wine - first played on Windows in 2010 - and yet no crash or whatsoever] All you need is love After all these years, still the same feeling:
  6. I would like a sentient arquebus which (as I previously said on topic) smokes too much (and coughs too) when firing. A bit jealous of naval canons, always on the sea to travel, but proud of its skills, and a war veteran. "Canons only need quantity, I NEED quality. But at least, they know discipline." "Pistols? Youngsters. Always to shoot first before aiming." "Blunderbusses? They don't even know where to aim! "Blades? WHAT? Barbarians! Always covered with blood! No way!" It would like refined gunpowder, (maybe some jokes on the gunpowder tea) debate a lot with Eder on what is the best herb to smoke. Oh and always with its monocle aiming device. (maybe some interaction with Ydwin) Taking its time to aim, to shoot and to talk. Grandpa Rifle. Lol
  7. Nobody is, Tale. Nobody is. That's why we got rats, thinking they can't cause destruction on such a large scale. They can. On topic, I'm still on Vampire Bloodlines, and I've just completed a quest both horrible and awesome. One word :
  8. Oh my bad. Maybe confusing with another KS. Perhaps Divinity Original Sin ?
  9. Animancers aren't watchers, they can't see souls directly. Instead they use all sorts of instruments to do experiments with souls, much like scientists use all sorts o instruments to measure things that can't be observed directly. As such I doubt being an animancer would have any effect on ones ability to fight well. Indeed, maybe the glasses include some animancer high tech ? (like infra red, thermal goggles) giving bonus to aim ?
  10. If the accuracy is related to eyesight, sure, but what about someone who is used to animancy ?
  11. Yes, indeed, a xebec would be a good choice. So the thread is like the other one "Stop being Cog !" ? ->[]
  12. I agree, too much micromanaging could be overhelming, though there are people who enjoy that. I may add the Command Ops series, which is more operational than tactics or strategy. One of its interesting feature is the delay between orders and units' execution.
  13. I am really interested to pledge, and I would like to pledge for few addons, but few days later if possible. Will all addons be available in the slacker backer store ? (I don't think it was the case for Project Eternity, IIRC, only a limited list of KS addons were available)
  14. Sailing was the thing Storm of Zehir was lacking the most, IMHO. I would have expected something like Uncharted Waters but in the Sword Coast. I saw Fulvano as someone like Volo but not directly involved in the PC's quest.
  15. I remember the time my pnp group tried Mage, and while they got used to see me playing Tremere in Vampire, I wanted to try something radically different in Mage. A prescient mage (I don't remember exactly, that was in the Ascension, not the Awakening... "Time flies" /pun ). The GM (and other players too) was so unprepared to deal with my character (which I roleplayed, and intended others to do so), it was a real nightmare for them. They surely wanted something more gamey than roleplay at that time. But I really would have liked to explore that.
  16. It's the Ocean House Hotel that works soooo well. Especially when playing a Malkavian. I intend to try Malkavian afterwars, I'm pretty sure that it would be fun story-wise.
  17. Have completed Pillars of Eternity OC (with neither White March nor patches later than 1.06 installed) last week, and I liked it very much. Liked the lore, how it is well designed for a "meta game" (prepared to be used for many games, not a one-shot game). And something I really like in c&c RPG, it's the difficulty to make choices (and assume consequences, the fun is to anticipate consequences and to bid on them, in the end confronting what we have thought and what the game - and developers - made). A bit philosophical, to confront mind games vs reallity By the way, many times I had to stop or let the games in "pause" (in dialog phase, good it is in pause, in Alpha Protocol it was wayyyyy more difficult ) as I often hesitate on few crucial choices. The number and the duration of thoses hesitations are indications of a good roleplaying game to me. I like very much when a game flows, but that kind of "breaking phases" I love it. A bit surprised because of many said about them, but... I found combat pretty fun. Even "trash mobs". I suppose combat had even been made better in later patches? But maybe because I'm used to play mage. I don't know. Now, I'm on Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines, and it already made me hesitate sometimes. Good one Man, I love playing Tremere, it reminds me the days of the Eternal Struggle
  18. After rereading my own sentences from my previous post, I believe that it could be mistakenly taken. I don't really think Paradox games drove a big part from RTS instead of grognards' wargames. Although a bit more "obscure" (even from a grognard point of view), few old games share thing from Paradox games, like Storm accross Europe or Medieval Lords; and the first Europa Universalis game was an adaptation (successfully redesigned) of a boardgame (sometimes even known as a "monster game"). But Paradox games are high scale Real Time Strategy games (with pause), and I believe there are people who prefer Real Time in different cases and for different reasons, then wanted for more depth. I may generalise, but I personally followed that way, loving low scale RTS (Dune II, C&C, Warcraft, AoE, TA, and others) in the 90s, and while not interested in Civ (because of TB), I went to EU thereafter. On another point, it's interesting to see that there were many tries to mix low scale and high scale in "strategy" games (in larger sense). Koei made strategy games both TBTactics and TBStrategy (Nobunaga's Ambition, Romance of the Three Kingdoms). Then, you had Synergistic who tried to mix strategy, roleplaying and adventure : the Excalibur series, or the Birthright adaptation which had interesting things Total War series would later have. Even last Westwood's Dune, Battle for Middle Earth II and Cossacks II included higher scale gameplay (although a bit limited). In the other way, there were high scale strategy games which tried to add low scale strategy (or tactical) gameplay, like Imperium Galactica II or the unreleased MMO Dune in 2002. I personally thought that RTS as a whole would have evolved into further mixing lower and higher scales, but instead, specialized into low or high scale. But I understand it is really difficult to make games as it, way more difficult than TBS, especially for multiplayer purposes. It's more RTT than RTS, (Commandos, Close Combat - style) I believe. But it's just taxonomy
