Basically anything non-productive is a waste of time. But that doesn't dissuade us to enjoy playing games, reading books, or do something else entertaining. Hey, you're talking about the kind of CRPG that doesn't exist anymore. Nobody has the balls to release an Icewind Dale or Fallout kind of CRPGs these days anymore. I'm the last one who would complain to play something like that again. Pretty graphics is always kewl, not just for silly action shooters. Pretty graphics also allow CRPG devs to create life-like digital actors and render huge worlds, which if done properly, enhances interactivity, therefor adds more depth. Just take a look at ME, or Bioshock. As long as games keep me entertained in an ingenious way, I don't see them as a waste of time. Just avoid the crappy ones. Those are indeed a waste. Also, try to get productive with games yourself (modding, writing, whatever), and you'll learn tons of (also non-game related) things and see how kewl it actually is creating things that other people can enjoy.

Nope. What was that?

I never really cared about how my PC dies, because when it happens I just hit QUICKLOAD. Man, if that would work in reallife too...
-
None of the above mentioned. And Griskey was only a LA dog when he worked on Kotor2. No clue where he's right now. Does actually anyone know what's up with Michael H
-
True. But keep in mind that released but unfinished software also has some "surprises".

Good for you Volo. New toolset, new opportunity to start a new mod... ..that'll never get done. Hehehehe...
-
Has anyone watched the E3 trailer from their homepage yet? It seems like they compose filmed actors with digital backgrounds and try to make that kinda interactive with that funny Wii controller. Looks interesting though.
-
Whoops, look like I can play this game after all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good, no need to upgrade yet. Ask me again when the Dragon Age specs get out.

You could theoretically just skip completing your NWN1 mod and just convert it into a NWN2 mod.... If everything runs smoothly (muahhh) and turns out well (muahh-nuahhahah), you'll be the first among the NWN2 mod scene that has released an awesome mod, and you'll be celebrated like a king and eventually get hired by Bioware. Or not. :D Deadlines, dude, Dealines. I know that's the key. And playing NWN of course.

You gotta start setting your own deadlines Volo, like the pro's do it, or we'll never get the chance to play your magical mod! (w00t)

Quantic Dream officially announces Heavy Rain
Morgoth replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Actually, IP was always meant as an episodic game, always releasing a new portion of story periodically, like a TV series...though this concept didn't appeal to the publishers back in 2002 (!) when Dave Cage first talked about this concept, so it became a "normal" package. Now that episodic content becomes more popular, maybe QD will rethink about using that concept for Heavy Rain again. -
Nice video. The terrain editor just works like as in any other commercial 3d package with pulling, smoothing and pushing the brush (duh, why not), which even allows complete morons to make areas quickly (artistic value excluded). Though it would be great if there're also exporters for major 3d packages like Maya included, or even a face poser editor that allows artists to make their own facial animations. Those NWN1 style conversations are nice, but not enough for ambitious mod makers who want to make verbal conversations.

Quantic Dream officially announces Heavy Rain
Morgoth replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Fahrenheit was a nice change, though I don't necessarily need another game of that kind....especially when it's story-telling technique didn't live up to the hype. Not to mention the actually sucky and corny story towards the end. I rather want to see another Omikron style game. -
Bioware's now sitting on a 300 million$$$ heavy investment, why should they do some silly exclusive deals anyway? They also bring out the PC version without MS, so they just could release JE2 on all platforms Bio wants with any publisher that doesn't rule out a PC version... Jade's deal as well as MEs deal was done before Bio/Pandemic merged, but now that they're financially secure like a rock, they theoretically don't need to do silly exclusive deals anymore.

Quantic Dream officially announces Heavy Rain
Morgoth replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
If that was Realtime, then I'll have to eat a kitten or something... Seriously, I fully believe in Quantic Dream's Vision and ability of creating groundbreaking and emotionally sophisticated characters, one thing however that already lacked in Fahrenheit though were the somewhat small and restricted areas. I fear Heavy Rain may again be more a movie experience rather than a game. Ohhh boy, just imagine a Deus Ex style game (just bigger and better ) with a huge rendered cityscape, populated with hundreds...gah thousands of such sophisticated characters where you can go and do everything you want, and everything affects everything blah blah blah.... You know what I mean? -
Yeah, like they need an ENTIRE FULL PRODUCTON TEAM working on a port. It's actually very common that specialized companies port the engine, whereas a handful people from Bio do the customization and testing stuff. This just strengthens my theory that they just may release JE2 on PC and console at release, as long as they don't choose MS as publisher again (but why should they do now anyway?).

I want to see a Shadowrun game like Deus Ex, just bigger and better. Hell yeah I want that NOW!

It's kinda surprising that they announce a spiritual successor to Fahrenheit when they just canceled Infraworld (also spiritual successor to FH) due to the fact that Fahrenheit wasn't finacially successful enough to justify another game of that gameplay style. I'm more eager to see something about that Omikron game (KARMA). -
No, they're making an awesome SP + MP + Toolset game, loser!
-
No they were devoured from M$. Though I can imagine that FASA Studios is not quite the same anymore than FASA Interactive from the good ol' days... Doesn't matter. Multiplayer sucks, and even if Obsidian would come up with a MP Shadowrun game, I wouldn't buy it.
-
A multiplayer FPS huh? Kinda weak. I guess they (Fasa) don't have the talent to make a decent CRPG. That usually often happens when the smart people leave or get fired, and only ass digger and "Yes sayers" remain. The result is either a WoW or a CS clone. LOL. Btw what's that hype with Vista and Xbox360 crap? Anybody looked at those screenshots? Is it just me or do they look somewhat.... 1998ish?

With Steam you just can backup your Local Data that already have all applied updates included with one mouse click, and then burn it on a DVD. After a Harddisk format, you just need to install the tiny Steam client and restore the backup. Voila, done. A babywalk. Steam works like a charm, and I'm happy that more and more devs jump onto that platform, since it's more economical and allows smaller devs to get their games with their own vision out on the market. There's btw always a Retail version as alternative (EA is Valve's distributor for Retail), like Sin Emergence, HL2 Episode 1 and probably many more. LONG LIVE STEAM & VALVE!!!!

Now you only have to do the same with Jefferson! Go Ramza! Do it!

http://www.firingsquad.com/media/gallery_image.asp/508/22 It seems like it's not just an Xbox 360 exclusive....but who knows, maybe it runs on Vista only. <_<
