I would like to see some Deus Ex atmosphere in AP
Morgoth replied to Rhomal's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Except that Velvet will be utter crap. I know this is unrealistic and not the way of an agent, but are there ways to disguise yourself that buys you some time before an enemy detects you? Or do they open fire on sight every time? -
EA Admits 'We Didn't Make Hits' in 2008

Volly surely must hate Bioware, otherwise I can't explain why he speaks so lowly of the company - I mean division! -
Troika only did really one good game: Bloodlines. It's good though the ex-people all got new jobs at great companies like Obsidian, Blizzard etc.

Just finished FEAR 2. A somewhat unexpected ending. Alma surely was a wild girl during that... action scene.

Yo dude how's it going? Hello lolz!

You let it sound like TOR could be a full replacement to a Kotor 3. Sorry, no go. You can go with story-driven, full VO content only so far, as AoC already showed. And in TOR, I'm not seeking for a "single-player MMO" in the first place. A Kotor 3 should still be considered by LA if they're smart. But they're not smart...

ME's cover system was non-existent, while GoW's was a bit too intrusive. It felt like your ass was sucked towards the wall. I hope Obsidian can find a middle thing.

Reviews are not just for purchase. A good reviewer is educational. My favorite reviewers I read regardless of whether I am actually interested in paying for something or not. They usually just have interesting things to say. No, a reviewers job is just hyping a game, usually the hyping-level is proportional with the bribery sum. Educational.... *facepalm*

Drakensang is a complete waste of time. I'd rather replay MotB or Fallout 3 before falling asleep with that generic nonsense.

Baby games, woman games, **** games. The only real game for the 360 right now is Gears of War 2.

Hades trying too hard being funny again?

Yeah I know AP wants to be a cinematic experience. I just hope Obsidian doesn't exaggerate the colors or fx in some way. Many games these days are just prone to overusage of screen effects, like FEAR 2, which doesn't even allow me to turn off the film noise effect.

DR is just a pissed off bitch. -
Playing like a single player game, and paying for that on a monthly base? Sorry, no go. And even Bio stresses that TOR will offer "story" in some way, you can't replace that with a masterfully crafted singleplayer Kotor 3 that uses full VO. Will TOR use full VO btw? I doubt it.

I expect 2 scenarios: 1) TOR sells initially very well (1-2 million units in the first month), but active subscibers drop off sharply after several months, and players crawl back to Wow. This is just the same that happened to WAR and AoC. Bioware Austin will consequently have to fire staff or even shut down. 2) TOR may or may not initially sell well, but slowly builds more and more active subscribers, therefor securing a lucrative future. People wanna have more TOR expansions, thus LA will put more attention and effort into this --> means the possibility for a Kotor 3 gets even more neglected.

I would imagine it's pretty subtle. You may (or may not) have noticed, for example, that films tend to desaturate the colors and tint the screen blue in European locales. It sounds like what AP is doing is similar to that. Yes, though I personally think this is a questioanable method to convey a place's mood. Like in every Hollywood movie, medieval Euro places are unnecessary too dirty, too blue-ish (cold and dark) and always rainy. That's so stereotypical. Just like in every Middle-Eastern movie you always see too much desert and bloom. I just hope Obsidian knows what they want to do with it, not because they're doing it for the sake of capturing Hollywood techniques alone.

There are a fair amount of people here that disliked the OC for NWN, or at least didn't find it all that engaging. I'm among them. However, the game is about a lot more than the OC, and I appreciate the fact that it allowed an amazing fan community to blossom. Not liking something is one thing, calling someone dumb for liking something is a different thing. But hey, I never played any RPGs before, so NWN was a revelation for me. You can imagine how I really started to drool once I played BG2, Torment and the IWD series after that.
-
I only remember that I got bashed a lot in the old BIS forums for liking NWN. Oh well...like I care.

They can do their TOR, whatever. Probably even buying it. But a TOR deal shouldn't exclude a real Kotor 3 done by Obsidian. More Kotor is better for all of us, don't you think? I just don't get why LA is so hesistant about a plain and simple Kotor 3 deal. It's a win-win for all parties involved!

NWN was my first Bioware game, and thanks to NWN I became not only a Bio fanboy, but also an RPG gamer. Of course my opinion about NWN is different today, considering the changing standards and all.

I must say though I'm eager to visit all these interesting places. Saudi Arabia, Rome, Moscow and Tapai aren't exactly your typical video game locations you get to see a lot. I'm looking forward how authentic and atmospheric Obsidian pulls these places off. One thing however that worries me a bit is this "color scheme" thing (green for Rome, blue for Moscow etc.). I really don't like too many effects on screen (except they can be disabled). As long as it is kept subtle and with artistry in mind though, I won't complain.

I'm looking forward to Empire, though I'll wait for a couple of patches before I buy it. I heard it's pretty buggy.

I had a 360 for two months, but that's only because I got weak during a Christmas Amazon discount and I thought games like Halo 3, Fable 2, Halo Wars and Mass Effect 2 (back then I thought it was exclusive!) finally pushed be over the fence. Well, it turned out that Halo 3 sucked, halo Wars demo was a joke, Fable 2 sucked, ME2 became a multiplatform release and only Gears 2 was really good. Well anyway, I sold it back. At least on the PS3 I had Uncharted and MGS4, both totally awesome games, and I'm looking forward to whatever next MGS installment, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, oh and I've yet to buy LittleBigPlanet. Well that's something. Not to mention it's great longetivity.
-
I don't need reviewers to decide what game I should buy or not. Bioware, Obsidian, Valve and Blizzard games are always blind purchases, no reviewers needed there.

I've never understood this line of thinking. Each platform has strengths and weaknesses. As a person who enjoys playing games, I've never seen the need to tear down one platform to make me feel better about the one I play on. It's not like I'd turn down a PS3 if it was offered to me, I just can only afford so many consoles and the PS3 hasn't made me feel like I NEED it yet. Come on, stop being the sensible guy here for a moment. I just wanna screw around with Hades a little bit.
