  1. Played some Left 4 Dead today again. Haven't for a long time. Boy, I totally sucked so much today that I sometimes think I should stop playing videogames alltogether. I'm playing as Llyranor as nick btw.
  2. Well, it's the usual : --- DRM doesn't really work, there are still pirate versions out there --- the most awful DRM, namely the ones with a limited set of installation and a must-have internet connection scare the consumers and push them to piracy. Basically, I call it "incitation to steal" No. Most consumers still pay, while those that have always been inclined to steal will continue to pirate, and only hide behind words like DRM so that they think they can justify their thievery. Nobody forces you to buy a game, and nobody provokes you to go pirate a game, except your own moral decay. Heck, I've been lately bought two games from Atari (Riddick, MoW) that use these infamous DRM systems, yet I have had no problem to install or play these games. If that is supposed to be the worst the industry can come up with, then I consider myself appeased. But it's the same like saying, i just bought a car and because i never had issue with it, you guys who have to go into service with it must just be full of fail... Bollocks. If the game has issues, there will be a patch released, or new drivers, or whatever. That's also service. I've yet to understand why DRM would cause a failure to run the game. you'll see when you upgrade to Win 7 Which I won't for a year or two. Until then, all known issues will be a thing of the past then.

  5. More likely Kafty is "convincing" his room mates to buy all that garbage.
  6. First releasing Witcher 2, then the first one. Makes total sense.
  7. Luckily enough, I never really cared much about the D&D rules, being it 2, 3, 3.5 or 4, it doesn't matter. It will never really fit into a computer RPG.
  8. Well, perhaps it was just some concept art of a lilliputian version of Michael Thorton.
  9. Finished Assault on Dark Athena today. Really great game. I'm thinking of importing Demon's Souls from Hong Kong, but then again I don't really know.... Anybody by any chance already playing this PS3 exclusive?
  10. Yeah I also think the Fallout 3 Intro was well done. I wonder what Obsidian has in mind for Vegas' intro. Ghoul Strippers?
  11. Bioshock anyone?
  12. I don't buy many games anymore, and I thought The WItcher was a pretty good game, so I decided to go buy the EE as new copy. Treat it as new game, as it were. It was worth it. Havent played it, but was looking at it in the store. So you recommend it? What did you like the most? The least? It's a well structured and well paced RPG that, however, lacks good writing and likeable characters. It's still recommandable providing you're starving for a solid RPG.
  13. I'm about to finish Dark Athena and will hook up on Myteries of Westgate next.
  14. According to IGN it sucks donkey balls. IGN Review 5/10 No wonder really, being a German game and all...
  15. 1 million isn't much either considering they worked 4-5 years on it. I'm sure it costed a lot more to produce TW.
  16. Hmm, sounds interesting enough. I think I'm gonna get it once I'm finished with my current plate of games.
  17. Tried to get into DD put was totally put off by it's generic look and gameplay. Divinity 2 looks more like an Oblivion clone. Hopefully though, it will have some roleplaying value this time.
  18. I'd say the Wii is very unfriendly to every game that doesn't come from Nintendo or Capcom. Seriously, third-party developers can totally forget about the Wii.
  19. I bought the regular edition and the EE a year later. So, from me they got paid twice for the game. Well, your fault, as the upgrade to the EE was actually for free. But some people just like to pay twice...for some (stupid) reason.
  20. Well, there's Arkane and Irrational that have slight similarities to LG type games, but seriously: Nobody will ever come close to the genuis that was Looking Glass.
  21. Yeah I'm not so worried about the DRm or install limit myself as I only intend to play it once, but what about the actual quality of the module? Any reviews somewhere?
  22. Don't be such hypocrites. If a bomb blows up in Bagdhad or some warlords manage to destabilize some regions in Afghanistan, nobody, except the people involved, really care. I'm just surprised by the reactions people showed by sending 700 new British soldiers into Afghanistan would make feel them any better.
  23. I really hate time limits in RPGs, so I am definitely with you on this one. If there are time limits, I feel time-pressure and I have enough of that in real life and have no desire to feel it in games too. Agreed. Time pressure = artificial stress = anti-purpose of games. Please make no time pressure related quests Obsidian!
  24. Has there been any indication that they might? I really doubt they will reuse much from Van Buren - time has moved on since that project. Time may have moved on, but there's still a chance they're using some stories/quests and characters from VB. Nothing wrong with that, as long as they're integrated in a sensible manner. I suppose that's true, but they might not even have the old design documents any more and probably have a lot of other stories to tell. A little bit of Van Buren might appear in Fallout: New Vegas, but I wouldn't expect it to be significant. Well the issue isn't about the availability of the VB docs, as basically everyone can download it from the net (or Bethesda provides them). The point is just whether Obsidian wants to reuse VB stuff. Whatever makes sense for them, I'm not worried about the final result.
