Interplay, for some reason, lost the BG license to Atari and wasn't able to obtain it back. Bunch of idiots I say. Wouldn't that have happened, Jefferson could have made it to the shelves.# And I agree with the size of NV: A third of Fallout 3's map is suffiecient, as long as it serves quality content.

Breaking: Duke Nukem dev 3D Realms closes it's doors!

I wonder how they managed to stay alive that long without outside funding anyway? I mean do these guys even have an accountant? They surely should have seen that coming earlier... -
Velvet Assassin comes out this week.

What a douche. Penalizing a game because it doesn't hold your hands? Wow, so much for the "professionals" out there. Seriously, VA is a lot fun. It's the only fun sneaking game since...uhm Thief 2? It's hard, yes, it's unforgiving, yes, you die a lot, yes, and it requires a lot patience, yes, but that's exactly what makes it better than Splinter Cell & Co. No babysitting there. Planning, thinking, and if you fail, do it again. -

Honestly, why haven't they got a credit? (oh, pun intended). But still, it sounded like the game was approaching completion fast, so it shouldn't be too hard to get a publisher deal. Take2 should throw some money at them so that it can be completed. -

A sudden impuls let me buy that game after I read the Gamestar's review which was overall positive and gave it a decent 73% score. So, just finished it downloading, finished the fisrt mission and so far it seems to be better than the IGN review indicated. Graphics are just superb, almost surreal, and most importantly, the game rewards patience. Patience is key for succeeding, plus limited bullets (7 shots for a mission) is a good thing, it prevents the game to become a rambo-fest. It also doesn't fall into the silly Hollywood trap of being typically mainstream and patriotic. And I don't get what people mean with having issues with the controls. They're slick and easy. -

Click How embarassing. I mean, they "worked" 12 years on it, and now they have to close their doors. L0ligaz! Only hope is that Take2 could give them some funds to get DNF finished. Not that I really care anymore that much... -
That never bothered me... If it happened... then he missed, nobody is perfect, and flukes do occur; If my PC fired all shots but one and they all missed, then the last shot jammed... Its memorable as amazingly bad luck... but I'm not going to curse the game as being broken just because I wanted the shots to hit. ~That's the point of the dice, it reflects an impartial reality, unaffected by personal wants, and feelings about what is "right", and what "should have happened". There's a video on youtube of that guy shooting his lawyer 6 or seven times at near point blank (he did hit the guy, but he mostly missed, and the lawyer walked away from the incident to get medical assistance). I've seen posts from players in shocked disbelief that they missed at point blank ~but it happens. And what if you have no bullets left and no other weapon profiency? That's right --> STUCK! Being stuck is soooooo fun! Then that PC is a casualty... Have you never seen a film where the hero is vilely wronged by the villain, family slaughtered, and him burning with hatred, and spends the whole film in revenge, and at the last moment when he has the villain right where he wants him... he gets hit by a train or something and the villain gets away with it all. *Come to think of it... "The Crow" started out a bit like that ~minus the return from the dead... I find it far more satisfying knowing that I completed the game against very real odds of losing, and not just coasting through it with the illusory risk of failure. Dude, I don't know how you like to play your games, but I know when I've no meaning to advance, then I get pissed and quit. No weapon, dead PC. Have fun!

I didn't like it, it was annoying as hell. I always had to bypass these silly guards every time before I could launch a new mission. I prefer the good old mission-based approach with focus on the story related stuff. I hardly care for all these gimmicky side-quest-stuff anymore, because it hardly has sufficient quality. Focused missions is what makes Thief great imo.

I hope rather not. I prefer diverse missions I can look forward to, rather than some huge boring city that looks all the same and has generic "side missions".

Arcanum had a cool setting and some decent writing, but was utterly destroyed by the horrible gameplay and unbalanced combat. I mean when I'm shooting a gun 6 times at a fat orc in front of me and every shot misses, I'm gonna be pissed.

I also hope Eidos optimizes the controls of the PC version this time. TDS was unplayable without some mods.
-
Cryostasis. Very unpolished and horribly optimized game, but despite these flaws, it's quite interesting. It's also scary, thanks to the superb audio.

I just vomited a little bit, but I was luckily able to swellow it swiftly again.

That got me thinking.... What's Randy Smith up to? Isn't he working with Steven Spielberg on a game? I wanna know!
-
It will probably use the Tomb Raider engine, therefor it's gonna suck for that reason alone anyway.
-
Anyone looking forward to Distric 9? I thought the trailer was kinda neat. It's being directed by Neill Blomkamp, the dude who was supposed to direct the Halo movie.
-
I hope they keep the steampunky-medieval setting, even though it isn't "in".

Coming not from LGS, I fear the worst.

No way I want to play that loser. But I'm open for a new Riddick game anyways. Perhaps something with the Necormongers (?). Some interesting gameplay could be made with those seekers dudes that start screeching when they see you through a wall. And then you ram them a knife in their ugly face. Could be fun.

I can only hope this will also apply to any other future Bioware releases.
-
Seems like Bioware claimed another victory. After all, it's their game, developed and published (!) by Bioware, therefor they have the choice over the copy protection scheme now.

The Thief games didn't tell me the story either, yet they were among the most awesome games ever made.
