  1. I hope this is untrue. I really did not want Blu-ray to win, since unlike HD-DVD, Blu-ray has region coding and I travel a lot... If Blu-ray wins I will probably just skip this 'generation' of media and stay with DVDs, where region coding can be circumvented with relative ease.
  2. Yes, clerics in PnP are definitely overpowered (along with druids). So much so, that I have sometimes been known to refer to Wizards of the Coast as Clerics of the Coast (or Druids of the Coast). Clerics have 5 spells per day per level plus a 6th spell (the domain spell), when Wizards get 4 (yes, you see correctly, Clerics can cast 50% more spells per day than Wizards Clerics have full access to their entire spell list, whereas Wizards have to learn spells Clerics can spontaneous cast (healing spells) and Wizards cannot Clerics have d8 hit dice, while Wizards have d4 hit dice Clerics get medium BAB, althought Wizards get poor BAB Clerics get two good saves, even though Wizards get only one good save Clerics can cast in armor, but Wizards suffer chance of spell failure if they try to do the same Clerics are proficient with better weapons & armor than Wizards I rest my case.
  3. Thanks for posting this. It is very bad news indeed, but at least we know where things stand.
  4. Perhaps I will use Mass Effect to hone my skills, now that it is coming to the PC. Still, at least some sort of pause function would be desirable. For KOTOR 3, I think the best compromise would be real time combat with a pause button, but a success mechanic(s) based on character abilities rather than player's reactions. This is in fact what we had in KOTOR 1 & 2.
  5. W..wasn't that what I was saying?! Yes, but you were saying it without the source material.
  6. well IWD2 is pretty new cuase i've only rented it for a couple days and thought it was well made. IWD and HOW are the ones i started on. i'm most likely gonna buy balders gate when i get a chance though. now NWN, i'm still debating on, cause idk if it would pertain to some of my tastes or not. but maybe i'll give it a try and rent it for a couple weeks and see how i like it. i could use seme screen shots if anybody's got any. another thing i've been wanting to try is get on the multiplayer online. maybe we all could see if like 6 of us could start an RPG together on multiplayer online for lets say IWD-HOW or something. i've wanted to play this game with other people to see if i'm as good as i hope i am. its just a thought though. I would recommend you to skip NWN and but go for NWN 2 and its expansion pack the Mask of the Betrayer. But yes, definitely try out the Baldur's Gate series and other Infinity Engine games.
  7. Bad news guys: This is what the rumor used as source material: http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/...Riccitiello.pdf Look at page 16 to see the table. As you can see, this does not necessarily indicate games in production... which does not mean the rumor is automatically false, but it does put a damper on one's enthusiasm.
  8. AND I have tried Jedi Knight II some years back. It was clearly a good game and I did enjoy it, but beyond a certain point, I simply could not proceed further and I tend to be determined in these things. The game simply required too quick reactions and too much coordination. I suspect it was getting close to the end of the game (somewhere on Yavin IV), but I don't know for sure, as I was unable to finish it.
  9. Not really: Bioware's entries don't include stuff like Jade Empire - only things they are working on plus KOTOR, which they also may be working on.
  10. That's great news if true! It seems to have some validity, so my hopes are definitely up!
  11. The theme of betrayal. To me, it's downright retarded to turn your back on people who've been helping and supporting you, to side with people who've been trying to harm/capture you. If you were Bastila, would you side with the Sith in spite of all the **** they've done to you? It's a complete lack of willpower and absolute weakness. If you can't prevail over the allure of power with common sense, then you're weak and you suck. But it's Star Wars. It isn't supposed to make sense, right? I agree that it does not make much sense, but it nevertheless happens in real life too. Have you heard of the Stockholm Syndrome? Basically, it was discovered that terrorist kidnap victims often identify themselves and start sympathizing with the terrorists. I don't see why similar psychological effects could not be at work in a Star Wars story such as KOTOR.
  12. A propensity for mischief is one of my major dislikes of gnomes. I was referring to halflings, actually. No matter, although to a lesser degree than gnomes, nevertheless, I dislike halflings too.
  13. Thanks! From that link, however, Darth Caedus does not sound as weak as people here make him out to be.
  14. No, but you came to the board to ask about our opinions and people have varied opinions on the issue. Most seem to think that a game according to your specifications exists and are recommending it to you. I agree that a well made game of any genre can win awards and become a cult game.
  15. You Sir are a danger to mental health on these boards!
  16. A propensity for mischief is one of my major dislikes of gnomes.
  17. Who the heck is Cadeus? I have never heard of him before.
  18. There have been statements by Atari that they will be producing new expansions for NWN2 for as long as there is interest (read: as long as they sell well). It is my impression that the Mask of the Betrayer sold well...
  19. Eagerness for KOTOR 3? Yes! Eagerness for KOTOR MMO? No!
  20. I agree with Joseph Bulock on the gnome issue. This is my categorization of the common types of gnomes: 1) Goofy Gnome: Two sub-categories: Chaotic/Chaos Gnome and Prankster/Trickster Gnome 1.a) Chaotic/Chaos Gnome: The character is eccentric in a chaotic, unpredictable and illogical manner 1.b) Prankster/Trickster Gnome: The character has a deliberately annoying demeanor Problem: I really dislike goofy characters of this type in the games I DM 2) Tinker Gnome: The gnome is an inventor, technologist and scientist Problem: I don't like steampunk and this type character evokes/makes sense primarily in the steampunk genre 3) Motley Gnome: The gnome consists of a mix of features of humans, elves, dwarves... Problem: Does not have a real niche in my worlds populated by humans, elves, dwarves... Of course, these archetypes often mix and match together in various ways, which does not really help the case of gnomes in my games. Do my problems with gnomes mean they should be removed from the 4E PHB? Not necessarily if enough other people like them, but their removal is certainly not something I will lose sleep over (except while typing this post!).
  21. It's not that I don't enjoy real-time combat at all, but games with such a system have a tendency to become too difficult for me at some point before the end, so that I am unable to complete them.
