  1. I believe all origin stories will be part of the Gray Wardens. I also belive that it contains all races. Edit: Origin stories not groups
  2. Some interesting clarification on the Gray Wardens from DG: I'm still against such story telling devices, but this might relieve certain peoples fears. Also a bit of fun: No, no, no, no, no. Cycles of destruction? What do you think this is, steampunk? We don't have cycles. The much more immediate concern of the game is that crate you looted back in the origin story. It starts stalking you, leaving love letters conspicuously in your camp, and at one point attempts to replace one of your followers, but you discover the ruse when you ask it to cast blizzard on some darkspawn, and it just sits there because it's a crate. Driven to the brink of madness by your refusal to make it part of your group, the crate goes on a killing spree... which nobody notices, because it tries to kill people by not being lootable.
  3. May I suggest that you take a look at the games that those onsoles offer before getting too consoley? I'm not trying to tell you that you shouldn't get a console (as I have an 360 myself), but rather that now isn't really the time to switch because of games1. The real reason to get a console is if it brings something to you through the way it works: Xbox 360: Ease of use(general console trait), Ease of multiplayer, many multiplayer features that the PC can only dream of. PS3: Ease of use(general console trait), it's getting something called home which will apparently be fabulous or something. Wii: Ease of use(general console trait), gimmick controller(not biased ). If any of those traits appeal to you on some level or in some cases then you should think about getting a console, but games in my opinion shouldn't matter. 1See my earlier ranting on "exclusivity".
  4. http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart3.html As you should be able to see from the chart AoC and AO are on entirely different scales, AoC had 700,000 subscribers as of june 30 and AO never had more than 60,000. Has AoC launched in asia? 50% or so of WOW subscribers are from asia.
  5. Which games are you missing that you can't find on the PC?
  6. @CrashGirl Which games are exclusively console that you would want? This whole exclusivity deal is seriously cracked. The only game that I'm considering getting for my failbox, Left4Dead, isn't even an exclusive and I'm only getting that for the 360 because Valve has been unable to give the PC equal or close to as good co-op features. Exclusives are either temporary to make money (GTA 4, Fable 2, Mass Effect), simply bad/boring games or very narrow games that I have zero interest in.
  7. I had an inkling that you preffered mars. There are probably people who prefer Jupiter but I highly doubt that most people do as that is a very personal thing, I'm not too fond of it myself. There are always differences and the differences are always important, but you're new to classical music and should start out small by finding something you like. Flip a coin. fall in love first geek out later. That's how I did it at least.
  8. One button combat is a misnomer used to name/describe Fable II's combat that uses one button and a directional pad (360) to determine what the character does. And yes most of such videos are horribly boring and a much better way of finding games is to find people describing those games as well as screenshots showing off the cool bits, at least in my experience. Well... you'll be surprised if they keep it in. As should be obvious by now I've personally not being able to keep away. Also I'm not surprised that you weren't hyped by those games as the only one I'm thinking of buying myself is Fable II and that is only if it is lauded and arrives on the PC. Niten_Ryu has a good list of the awesome parts of E3.
  9. I guess ChrashGirl isn't a fan of one-button combat. @CrashGirl have you watched anything from STALKER: Clear Sky? I'm fishing for whether you've seen/heard the 'techno' combat music they've put in.
  10. Tchaikovsky as well? What do you even mean by funeral? I personally find most (if not all) of those classical music collections absolutely awful, but I guess that they are in general well suited to finding composers that you like. How much of The Planets did you listen to? Edit: Tchaikovsky can be rather "bombastic" by the way. Edit2: Emphasized can.
  11. This guy would beg to differ with this. You are right in that Pidesco's argument is rather stale, as it would follow that everyone who had bought Mass Effect because of marketing would dislike it, and I haven't met anyone like that nor seen anything that would point to that demographic being of significant numbers. Alos, I don't see the similarity between AP and ME, but I'm not a game reviewer so that might be it.
  12. WoW came out three years after Warcraft 3 and two years after the expansion pack.
  13. I wouldn't know as I'm just going by what gamespot employees (granted, a relatively crappy source) say and what the Bioware site says: Also, I'm personally against any kind of forcing of characters personality even if it doesn't force all that much. And no I didn't consider the Spectres paladin like.
  14. They are? Well then, crap. According to the gamespot thingy that I posted on the last page, yeah. I guess that I should mention That David "-the-Pooh" Gaider has written some words on the subject on the oficial forums: They are an anti-darkspawn organization. And the story will take you where it needs to go, and it will make sense then because it will be in context. Trying to make sense of it when you have no context is just going to be frustrating. I know you guys will do it anyhow, but I simply advise not getting too far ahead of yourselves.
  15. Anyone know if that will be the Atomic edition or just plain D3D?
  16. This isn't 3DRealm's Duke Nukem forever. This is Duke Nukem outsourced to other companies like Manhattan project, which I hear is actually quite good.
  17. Apparently. I'm surprised that it only got 6 or so posts.
  18. I have just been informed that awesome is being ground into a game over at Tilted Mill Entertainment (Children of the Nile, Caesar IV, Simcity Societies). I'll just copy the blurb:
  19. Am I the only one who sees the overland map and thinks Heroes of Might and Magic? I personally think it looks really awesome.
  20. Oh... Does it show that I never cared much for NWN2? Crappy farmgirl was alright in my opinion as she didn't push another character out of the party (or did she? I can't remember) and as such wasn't annoying. She was pretty bland though.
  21. My character joining the wardens implies a lot, much more than him being a Bhaalspawn does. The Gray Wardens are a palladin like group, and I don't think it to be assuming too much that any character joining them will agree with their palladin like demeanor or at least their goals to some degree at some point. This means that my characters personality is already decided to some degree and I find that quite horrible. The whole bhaalspawn thing on the other hand doesn't decide anything but my characters birth and certain inborn traits. You would have more of an argument with the little backstory blurb that BG fitted my character with. The difference between that and DA is that it is backstory and has zero effect in any way. Also I liked Imoen well enough so it was mostly quite acceptable. Am I overeacting? It's possible that I am, Mass Effect makes me doubt it though. Who the hell is Sandra? Have I missed something?
  22. Not so sexy anymore since they started forcing my character into specific roles ruining roleplaying Bioware people are being not so sexy anymore since they started forcing my character into specific roles ruining roleplaying while rambling about themselves in a thread. Hard to read you say?
  23. Sounds cool.
  24. Absolutely the best thing to come out of E3. Also for uncool people not in the know.
