  1. Are you talking passive skills or the passive and magic skill tree? Valkyrie is in the skill tree. Even if you stick solely to passive skills you will still have critical strike. Edit: Whatever you're talking about it doesn't really matter as with evade, dodge and avoid the enemies won't be able to hit you. Edit2: A solely passive amazon sounds pretty boring.
  2. Why shouldn't it be feasible? Passive and magic tree has some of the most important amazon skills.
  3. So I've installed D2 and expansion, let's see how long it take till I start a character.
  4. @Tale Did you play as a gnome or one of the lesser races? I too was a warlock.
  5. Surely a human male would be a better comparison? Sure. But it was hard to find a human male with low amounts of armour on him and I got lazy. I then choose a gnome because they have a speciel place with me since I played gnomes in WoW and they are the only worth that cartoony-art-style has in my eyes.
  6. If you can't see the difference between those pictures then I don't know what to say. Are you sure that you don't mean stylish? Blizzard want the game to be stylish as you can see from the Barb wearing an armour that looks cool more than it protects. I agree that this could easily work, though I must admit that I would rather that Blizzard cut down on the number of skills and spent more time on actually making them good throughout the entire game.
  7. Are 'real gamers' accepted as existing now? I don't see why I'm any less of a gamer than anyone else just because I prefer my PC. On the other hand I must admit to be a bit bigoted towards people who call themselves gamers because they play Wii sports. Relevant: Blizzard: Microsoft Could Do More To Support PC Gaming
  8. Re-specing is when you get all your skill points back so that you can redistribute them again in a different way.
  9. I guess this is worth a double post: Angry Diablo fans starts petition for less WoW-look. Some people must have played it so much that they have WoW permanently ingrained on their retina.
  10. I doubt that that would work very well as one of the reasons people would want to respec is so that they can be superior in high-level PVP where a skill point wasted could mean a lot. At least that is what everyone besides the OCD maniacs would most likely use it for. Edit: I guess that I should mention that I'm talking out of my ass and don't really know why people would want to re-spec as I don't do so myself. It could be interesting if they made a non-respec mode where you would get a speciel title similar to the one you get from completing the game in hardcore mode.
  11. I found a tome that gave me one free skill point in Diablo 2 last night. That was pretty sweet. Quest based right? In Diablo you could find shrines that would give you a vague eerie message and some effect that was actually interesting, such as removing a level of one spell and adding one to every other, imbalanced as all hell but also quite fun. Quest-poem that Mus? mentioned: If they can bring stuff like that back and possibly balance it a bit then the game will be the better for it.
  12. Well... I actually think I could do that. Firewall is standard issue for any rogues who want to do well. You've got the edge on teleport, bloodstar and all the less usefull spells. Diablo's biggest problem was that Fireball and chainlightning was more or less the highest you needed to go in spells and sorceres were simply trying too hard. Yep. It is also the only bow worth a damn, unless you count the random ones of course. I was actually contemplating going melee as I had zero luck in bows and then I get the Warlord of Blood quest and get a ring with insane amounts of resistance all and strenght as well as Windforce. The only "mage armour" I can think of is the thinking cap with +2 spell level and 1 durability. And the goblin wanted a sign, Ogdens sign to be exact. Are you saying you don't own it, treasure it and keep it under your pillow at night to make you feel safe? How queer.
  13. So your girlfriend has a broken limb or something? The test is supposed to buff the stats by 2 and that would leave her with a normal of 7, pretty pitiful. Why don't you and your pointy ears just go sing in a Meadow. Edit: Also how did you guys become bards? I wanted to be a bard.
  14. I can't remember specifically when it is reasonably possible to get what spells, but keep a lookout for mana shield, it is freakishly good. You need to max your stenght (45 I believe) at some point for the armour wearing ability and besides that you should mostly get a lot of mana as that will become your new healthpool when you get mana shield. Weakling! You do know about shift-clicking right? Rogues are the best anyway (I'm not biased at all, honestly ), they can tank almost as well as a warrior if not better than them after you've shaped them a little and spellcasting isn't exactly limited to the sorcerer. I planned on fireballing Diablo but dropped it when I accidentially stunlocked him with my bow WindForce. I was actually kinda let down when I saw that his hit recovery was that low.
  15. I'm pretty sure that some D3 guy mentioned that he liked the idea of re-specing but didn't know if it would be in or how they would do it. I'm personally very much against the idea as it removes the entire idea of the game. Also re-specing becomes mostly irrelevant if the game maintains a relatively strong status quo unlike MMos like WoW, D3 doesn't need it. @LadyCrimson Making re-specing depend on quests sorta removes the idea of re-specing itself as re-specing is about not spending time on building a new character. Same thing if it was a rare item. Edit: Also, the only person in this thread who complained about cartoonish art was Starwars and even he didn't do it too much. The complaints center on D3 taking only or mostly the bright coloured parts of D2 without the dim or washed out parts. It is hard to tell yet so the discussion is sorta on hold. At least on my part.
  16. How about both? You Are A: True Neutral Human Wizard (3rd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 13 Dexterity- 14 Constitution- 14 Intelligence- 14 Wisdom- 14 Charisma- 11 Alignment: True Neutral- A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Class: Wizards- Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells. 17. I'm close to finishing Diablo with only Lazarus and the Lord of Terror himself standing between me and the ending. I was surprised how well D1 still holds up and is quite fun if you can get past the minor annoyances that people, who have played the mostly improved D2, will find in it. I'm probably gonna take a look at Darklands and see if it can hold my attention, if it can't then I'll be starting a game of D2 with an Assassin.
  18. Is it just me or does Bok's character lack nipples?
  19. There is good atmosphere sure, that wasn't what I meant though. Awesome places from memory: Act 1: cathedral Act 2: Lut Gholein city, Lut Gholein palace harem, The place where the summoner were (can't remember the name). Act 3: Kurast docks (city being overtaken by jungle = yay), Kurast, Durance of hate Act 4: Sorta in between as much of it felt sorta hellish but it also felt lesh polished somehow. Act 5: Mostly awesome all around, but it is an expansion pack and (from memoru) seemed to use a lot more props to convey the 'corrupted frozen wasteland' vibe. Now I'm not saying that D2 too was unatmospheric as all hell, it just didn't really feel like the corruption had touched anything but the monsters. Act 2 is a good example of this, in act 2 you mostly fought corrupted versions of the native animal life and native sand dwellers, that's good. The error is when you do so in something that looks like a normal uncorrupted desert as the landscape as much as the native life should have been affected by the wanderes passing. As far as I remember, there was some props like impailed guardsmen and black-water oasis that hinted at corruption but that just wasn't really enough to convince me. I'm not sure, but some of this might be related to preferences in how the 'look' should be as I see other people agreeing with me that the current D3 look (from what we've seen) doesn't satisfy and yet I see people who get "an impending sense of doom", leaving me wondering what they've been drinking as I can't see it. I guess another part of it is that atmosphere is very important to me and it saddens me that people don't make it like I would. If I were to have made it, then I would have done something that emphasised D2 as being a warrior (or several warriors) fight to save the world from the madness of corruption as he (they) slowly descend into the corruption that the world has become or something like that. Anyway most of this is moot until we actually know something more tangible about the relation between the areas and the story as well as seing more of the world.
  20. I imagine your interest, or lack of, in Windows 7 could be a factor when making this decision?
  21. Quoted from memory: I thought the rogues in D1 was supposed to be from the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye? I'm pretty sure that Kashya mentions Blood Raven as being a commander or something of the Rogues that went to Tristram. Anyone that remembers anything from that? Edit: Lorebooks? Thank you Boyarsky, that was another thing that was mostly missing from D2.
  22. Hell, just a portal multiplayer FPS would be mindbending.
  23. Replaying Diablo, it has ocured to me that one thing that truly got worse in D2 is the amount of interesting shrines. D1 had all sorts of shrines that was truly mystical in nature, and while it can be said that some of them being harmfull was a bad idea, you have to be quite strange in my opinion to say that D2 shrines were more interesting.
