@Enoch You have no idea how insane parts of your presidential elections can look to a european where things are still quite different. The whole cult of personality around the candidates look extremely strange in my eyes since I tend to view politicians as nasty necessary beings. Still, much of what you're saying can easily be found in all campaigns even here in europe where we sometimes scoff at the american way of doing things.

I think the only MMOs that has potential for being different is the Bioware MMO and Funcom's secret world

If you can handle the older graphics and gameplay then you might do best to buy MGS1 first as the series tend to get more overly philosophical in the possibly bad way (see gromnir-xard debate in PS:T thread). MGS1 is the game that is most about gameplay and less about cutscenes (their version of plot it seems) as far as I've understood. I'm sure that Tale or Xard can correct me if I'm totally off the mark.

Not even close to.. BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT3
Moatilliatta replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
Dude don't mess with my elder scrolls! Some of us want what you call repetitive dungeons out of the elder scrolls. I wouldn't exactly call them repetitive as most of them were quite different. @IWTK3 Fallout 3 is neither elder scrolls with guns or Oblivion with guns and that wasn't what I was saying. What I was saying is that to expect Bethesda to make anything close to an interplay fallout is close to plain insanity. -

If you expect anything but an elder scrolls-ish fallout from Bethesda at this point then you're putting yourself up for a dissapointment methinks. -

Some parts of the game look really good and some really bad. I'm gonna play it as an Elder Scrolls game. -
All I did was add STALKER: Clear Sky to the list of games that Mkreku quoted because that game plus the Piranha Byte games are the ones that I care a lot for and would want to welcome you for. Edit: If someone simply says "fixed" in their post it usually means that they have edited the quote that they quoted.

Alpha Protocol at Games Convention 2008

Can we take that as an official endorsement of the devil? -
Not really. Could you explain why you think so? I mostly played the viking invasion campaign because defeating the vikings were a bitch and that increased the fun.

Sure, if you're a singleplayer ingrate. And romances have been confirmed. I mean, what would we do without our romance fix. Yeah single player. The single player story was lacking. Which is why you play multiplayer and have loads of fun. [Ontopic] Bioware will be revealing details about the toolset at PAX in the next couple of days. -
What do you look for in an RPG?
Moatilliatta replied to Wrath of Dagon's topic in Computer and Console
This is extremely hard ot narrow down but: Combat: Must be of a tactically oriented kind where there is little filler and preferably good mechanics. But those mechanics shouldn't overshadow the design and crafting of each encounter to make it fun. Story: Preferably well written for motivation. Should preferably be somewhat personal for the "hero" as the whole save x stuff gets old. World: The world should preferably be interesting so that I can care for what happens in it and to it. The world shouldn't just be expanded through conversation but also through books and similar devices. Characters: Should in a sense mirror what is going on and give context, comments and in general respond to how the "hero" affects the world. I also like party RPGs because the presence of an actual party means increased tactical considerations. Choices and consequences doesn't an RPG make but if used correctly (ME bug queen was a weak example of using it well) it can make the whole thing more engaging and loads more fun. It should preferably contain fun. -
Hard to say. Is it possible to play large battles in the demo? Perhaps even large battles over large castles. The 6600 would graphics card ram-wise be part of the minimum specifications so I'm not sure.
-
Med 2 does eat a lot of resources. I could play it on my old computer 512 MB, 2.x GHz and a decent graphics card untill I met a heavily defended castle which made my computer cry.
-
There is no such thing as a EB of Medieval 2 as it is still too young for that. I do believe though that the EB team (or possibly the realism team) is working on making a version for Med2.

You do have a point. But at the same time Quayle's presidential nominee was a republican in a time where the dems (as far as I remember) wasn't that strong. And Dukakis made some quite horrible blunders. You do have a point in there being very little historical precedence for VPs mattering. Edit: I should say all this happened when I was quite young and my knowledge comes from reading up on it after.

The quality of combat in Bloodlines and other games

@WoD If you're gonna include all that in finding the crashpod (I didn't because my memory of Kotor is several years old by now) then try to put it up against the "Find Saren" part of the main quest in ME and take a look at how many different things you do there and how many of those things that you don't even find in your Bastilla quest like Wrex being angry at Shepard for saying they should destroy the anti-virus to the genophage. My main point isn't that I'm right and you're wrong (though I sometimes come off that way) but instead that you should be carefull with throwing out words like masterpiece as it is an incredibly loaded word that means a lot. To be honest it's hard to even argue that video games has anything worthy of being valled a masterpiece as most of them has incredilby visible flaws and doesn't compare in any way to what an actual masterpiece is. Anyway, since Xard has already started waxing on the whole you'll learn when you get older/more experienced debate I can tell you that KOTOR was also an incredibly important game for me because before that I had only played Baldurs Gate 1/2 and as such had very little to compare to. Since then I've played every WRPG since the second-coming that BG started and can easily say that my original faith in KOTOR was misguided. Also, why haven't you played the classics like Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 yet? I think you might be among those who will like them. [Ontopic] Bloodlines combat was good because it made more sense in context and had more of a feel of positional combat than the recent games where you're attacked by a blob of Githyanki/Goblins/other generic badguys. NWN2 had a bit of this in the style of IWD2 with the whole barrels as fortification idea, but it wasn't enough for me to get through. -
I do realize that my opinion may be incorrect but I do believe that I have a point. Hillary clinton will be important if she chooses to go out against Palin because a lot of people who want a woman in office are the same people (in my admittedly limited experience) who likes Hillary and drawin in Hillary goons is the only important bonus to Palin as far as I can see. Hillary could stay completely quiet but she doesn't seem like that person to me. Also wasn't Reagans VP (G. H. W. Bush right?) significantly more experienced than a 2 year governor of a state that is relatively atypical fro America? She will look the lesser VP at least unless Biden screws up. I guess we'll see how it goes. So do you think Palin can do more than try to sway some women-in-white-house voters? I doubt that she will get any cross Hillary voters after Hillary's Denver speech.

Let me guess, you were the chairman of your schools debate club? Debate to you means poo-poing someone else's points while making none of your own. Please tell me where I poo-pooed on your point while making none of my own? -

So you don't think he is dismantling his main argument against Obama - lack of experience? Also what will happen when she doesn't know enough about domestic issues because she has spend her time in Alaska spending all the state's money and apparently playing though against the old guard? I could be wrong but she doesn't seem like a good choice to me. I'm not an expert on America or anything but won't there be VP debates where Biden will rip Palin apart? Also how do you think Hillary will respond to another Woman getting that close to the white house before her while acting like she finishes what Hillary started? I have no reason to belive that this will help McCain in any way. Edit: Also won't the VP get more important since McCain is an antediluvian and has health issues?

I don't care how low your personal standards are, you called KOTOR a masterpiece now either defend that statement or realize that you were wrong. See above. I don't hate any Bio games as they all succeed on being average and just interesting enough for me to buy them. Also I have already adressed that quote. All games have technical limitations that they deal with even KOTOR, there is nothing new here. I also find it hillarious that a random boardmember believe they know better than Bioware, who has been in the buisness for a decade, how to design RPGs. -

@WoD Did you even read what I wrote? Break down any Bioware quest and it will show itself for how boring it is. Also I didn't like ME much so stop pretending to be superiour because you "know" that graphics "make games worse" or something like that. -

To find Bastila, you had to find the crashed pod, go through the sewers, hook up with Mission and Zaalbar, get involved with the two gangs, side with one, fight the Rancor, go through the gang compound, steal the prototype engine, win the race, win the fight at the end, and be subjected to Bastila's snooty dialog, in addition to a bunch of other stuff I don't remember at the moment. If that kind of gameplay is equivalent for you to a 2 second dog killing spree, then we exist in two different universes and there's not point in discussing anything. I never said it was equivalent I just said taht it was an essentially uninteresting quest: To find Bastila, you had to find the crashed pod Oh my, walking sure is fun. And you even get to kill monsters while walking! go through the sewers, See above. hook up with Mission and Zaalbar Hooking up with people is incredibly boring as party members only pay off later. Also see Pidesco's main quest comment. get involved with the two gangs Which has no real effect on anything except who you get to kill. side with one, fight the Rancor, go through the gang compound, steal the prototype engine, win the race, win the fight at the end, and be subjected to Bastila's snooty dialog Fight, mindless sneaking, fight, you don't so much steal as get treated to a cutscene as I remember, racing which was incredibly hard to loose. Snoore! Bastila wasn't exactly a stellar companion. All of this except the racing part is a part of the find Liara mission. Have I won yet? -
