  1. The Maimed God's Saga for NWN2 (mod by one of the Ossian people). Really, really good from what I've played so far.
  2. The screenshots in the other thread are pretty to look at but I wonder if this will be a game I'll enjoy. The mentions of power meters and orbs which triggers special attacks in the german preview, I dunno... I wonder if it's gonna end up as a mishmash between a Diablo-like and some sort of Devil May Cry-ish (which is a genre I really don't enjoy myself) action game. We'll see.
  3. From the IGN article:
  4. I think he incorporated Lute Hero into the Dark Waters campaign, don't know which chapter though. I found that campaign to be rather amazing on the level of scripting wizardry involved but I was not that impressed otherwise. For NWN1, I really enjoyed the Almraiven mod. Not because it had amazing roleplaying or anything, because it didn't. But the atmosphere was absolutely spot-on, one of the best renditions of a city I've seen. The decision to break the city into many rather small areas worked very well, even more-so now when loading times aren't as big as they were back in the day. For NWN2, my favorite thus far is Trinity. Really enjoyed the gameplay on that one, felt very old-school PnP-ish. There's a few really nice looking mods coming out soon, including a mod that's done by one of the Ossian people (he did the Saleron's Gambit series for NWN1, good mods as far as I can remember).
  5. Maybe some day we will see what makes the previewers so impressed.
  6. False. Most of the mods that received good ratings in the early months are horrendously overrated and clearly results of people being impressed that campaigns can be created overall. Most of it is pure junk. I'd say the good mods didn't start coming until several years after its release and even so, the high quality mods are faaar from being as numerous as some people would claim. It's true about the DA toolset though. Though I guess the boobies are nice?
  7. Seems to be a problem with a lot of modders. Either they're so focused on building awesome areas in toolsets and implementing scripting wizardry that the dialogue is just completely forgotten in the process. Or, it's severely overdone like you say. Few manage to get it right in my opinion. I actually re-installed Oblivion and been playing that. It's pretty much how I remember it. pretty boring overall though some quests (notably Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild) can be pretty fun. Installing tons of mods but it is really not a lengthy source of entertainment. It's great fun to load up a new mod, go in-game and see how it works out. But none of them elevates Oblivion as a whole to a really fun game on its own. It's just too... uninteresting and inoffensive. You'd need a mod to replace all the content in the world for it to become really fun. Some of the mods are quite nice though. I'm trying out the Unique Landscapes mod for example and it does make the world a lot more appealing visually speaking, without breaking the tone so to speak.
  8. Pretty good opening speech, felt a bit long though. But with no slideshow to go along with it... yeah. Certainly sets the stage though. The music sounded a bit different, almost reminded of Arcanum. Though hard to tell with the quality.
  9. Really great job on bringing Marcus' face to this engine. Color me impressed.
  10. Yeah, even though the game has a lot of freedom of choice it's very restricted when it comes to moving around in a gameworld. That said, I'm totally in agreement in that we need more modern day RPGs. Alpha Protocol doesn't have the most amazing story in itself but just the fact that you can *somehow* relate it to today even with its super-villains feels incredibly... fresh I suppose? Also, on violence... I'm far from being "preachy" and all that but sometimes it amazes me how much focus there is on violence in games and how much it's just... taken for granted. It's pretty crazy when you think about it.
  11. No, we all pirated the DLCs, the game and the entire internet.
  12. I think the Pitt was really good in terms of atmosphere, and I mean *really* good. The approach is probably my favorite moment from Fallout 3. With better quests and writing it could've been really excellent. But even so I'd say it's the best thing from Fallout 3.
  13. I'd say that little "article" would've been apt for any Bioware game *except* for Dragon Age and possibly the Baldurs Gates (good games but rather overrated still).
  14. The story isn't anything special. The story wasn't anything special in SC1 either. The story isn't anything special in 99% of all video-games. I'm not sure where people got so hung up on the Starcraft story. It's already happened 3 times that I've told people that I really liked the game and the first response they had was "oh yeah, I watched the cutscenes on youtube and the story sucks!". I think it's good fun to follow, just like the story of the first game. Not much more than that.
  15. Just beat the game, fabulous job from Blizzard. The campaign is uber-solid, one of the best I've played I think. Story isn't amazing but it's great fun to follow and I'm curious to see what'll happen in the next game.
  16. Django Reinhardt - Stockholm
  17. I also had fun with it for a while but my interest just dropped after that. Tried starting it up again a few weeks ago but can't muster the interest. As a Diablo like game, it's not horrendous, but I find the atmosphere is really lacking in Torchlight and the character system doesn't feel deep enough to hold up the game on its own (though I didn't make it to the end either so what do I know). Sorta mediocre I thought.
  18. Yeah, I didn't do any CoP stuff either. I hated the planning aspect of it (pick-up parties for CoP were pretty bad often) and it didn't mesh at all with my realtime job at the time. I ended up playing Beastmaster solo a lot as well as leveling crafts and fishing, things one could do while still keeping in touch with the linkshell. The expansion after CoP (Treasures of Aht Urghan) was more to my liking overall. Half-tempted to check out FF14 when it's released... but not sure.
  19. Nice blast from the past there... FFXI is the only MMORPG that I played (and enjoyed) for a long time. The music always brings me back to the early days of adventure when the game was at its best.
  20. I think one of the most important questions you gotta ask yourself i: Did I enjoy Starcraft 1? Because it is very similar at its core, just with... well, more units, more cutscenes, more stylized visuals.
  21. I don't mind the satirical part of the newscast but it's just not funny at all. I like the humor in the game otherwise but they really overshot it with the news segments I think. Even though it's Starcraft, it could've used a bit more subtlety in the news reports. Enjoying the campaign so far though. They've done an excellent job so far of creating varied missions, a fun to follow storyline and excellent visuals (which doesn't rely on the technical side so much it causes my computer to melt).
  22. I don't think they were particularly successful in NWN2 or KOTOR2 either. I enjoyed them a lot in Alpha Protocol but it's so different in tone, it's hard to see them as romances. More like romantic encounters. That said, I quite liked the romance with Morrigan. Partially I think because even though she got emotionally attached to your character, she didn't really change that much and you couldn't dissuade her from doing what she wanted to do near the ending. I think they hit a pretty good spot with her showcasing some feelings but still not giving up on her own dreams (twisted as they may be). EDIT: I didn't like the romances much in MotB either but one thing I *adored* is that the Safiya romance turned out so wonderfully weird in that... well, maybe she is partly in love with Akachi? That link made it so... morbid in some ways. I have no idea if it was intended or not but even so I loved that.
  23. For me, the site just fails after I press continue on the page where you fill out your name and that. Blah.
  24. I'm gonna eat them all, get fat and then sue Obsidian.
  25. My name is actually Daniel (for realz) but I refuse to be patient.
