Patch 1.2 Paladins
no1fanboy replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
they fixed the balancing for POTD about 2 weeks ago you cant run around with a robe and tank anymore -
No you couldn't do it without. You can't have 15 Mechanics and enough Stealth at lvl 6 right after Port Maje. Other question: What if you take Berath's Blessing for 50.000 gold, sail to Crockspur after Port Maje (even below lvl 6) and just buy both items? Or any other legendary item at a vendor? Do all those items need to be level-locked? you dont need to have both high stealth and mech with the same player you can split them up yes it can be done, you also use picks and party assist if needed and you sure its 15 i dont think that high?

Patch 1.2 Paladins
no1fanboy replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Neither do a ranger and a pet if we're going by classic CRPG/D&D standards (eh, there was the beastmaster subclass, but pet+ranged was hardly class-defining). Paladins have been able to alternate between off-tanking and solid DPS since PoE1. I would have thought that currently in terms of DPS in Deadfire: 1. Rogue. 2. Monk 3. Wizard 4.Druid 5. Barbarian 6. Cipher 7. Ranger fighter 8. Priest 9 . Paladin I putting priest above paladin becasue they get holy fire, shining beacon -

Patch 1.2 Paladins

This isnt true at all. Fighters get a very cheap resource cost ability that instantly adds plus 20 to all defenses for a decent duration. There is no point in rolling a paladin. In there current state they have three broken ability skill trees including all there upgrades including: - Hastening exortation is a complete joke. A high level buff that adds +5 Dex?? This is no where near worth using - Reviving exhortation killls the person you revive nearly 100% of the time after 15 seconds. I cant keep them alive longer then that and ive tried numerous times - Self immolation is a complete no brainer to avoid at all costs. Even is you do stack reflex high enough to avoid full hits with it why would you want to do that? A wizard casting a fireball doesnt do himslef damage when he does it WTF is a paladin doing copping such huge damage to himself? All these skill trees involving these three active abilities are currently broken. Flames of devotion is also pretty crappy after they nerfed it 20 times. I stay away from Paladins they suck bigtime -
What Obsidian did for Deadfire in reality is introduce more restrictions. I was gobfounded when i saw what they did. They removed the Rest restrictions and introduced a whole heap of other restrictions that are even more restrictive then what there was in the first place. I personally think not the smartest move in the world

If Deadfire combat is more simplistic than BG Then you must have been playing a completely different game. I dunno what to tell you. Deadfire combat is more simplistic. How can it be more simplistic when in BG2 most classes rarely did anything other than auto-attack? Yeah but in BG2 the game was more immersive because it had a better plot and story

If anyone wants me to make any changes to the poll description just post it below and i will change if necessary. Or if i missed something I personally liked POE1 system better becasue i found it far more flexible and had far more options not being restricted to 2 casts only per level. It was very easy to rest and i really enjoyed unleashing hell on my opponents by throwing a whole casters asenal at them. You cant really do that in Deadfire I really liked POE1 active ability system better because you could use all your abilities that where per encounter every encounter. In Deadfire Im finding there is no point in selecting high level abilities because they just all compete for resource and I never end up using them.

This is a really interesting and important Poll. It was big news when OBS made all the changes from Pillars of Eternity 1 to what we are seeing now on Deadfire. Lets see what the community thinks after now having played both games. Just to refresh everyone's memory: POE1 - active abilities where either per rest or per encounter. You could use any ability in any encounter as long as you had it available for use. You had to rest to replenish per rest abilities - Spells for casters where you could cast a certain amount of spells per level per rest. The amount of spells you could cast per level increased as you gained levels. You had to rest to replenish spells Deadfire: - Active abilities now compete for resource cost. You can only use abilities until you run out of resource. Resource increases per level. You dont have to rest to replenish resource. - Spells have been restricted to only two casts per level in every combat encounter. You dont have to rest to replenish spells. - Empower has been added to increase spells/ abilities effectiveness. You need to rest to replenish empower fully and it can only once per encounter

You dont need hardly any of there active abilities to make the best rogue you just need to take there best passives. I find nearly all of there med-high level active abilities ok but you definately dont need them. The low level ones pretty much do the excact same thing anyway. The high level rogue ability withering strike is just a joke with a 3 guile cost All you need is: - crippling strike upgraded to artierel (costs 1 guile gives +2 pen +25% damage and hobbles) is essential - Smoke cloud - and its optional to even take confounding blind Its not hard to set up deathblows and sneak attacks because you have four other party members who can do that anyway No wonder everyone loves rogues

is PotD tuned yet?
no1fanboy replied to shadow85's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
As far as i know they are still working on balancing issues for the first game. 3 years after it was released I wish i was joking -
Wizard doesn't give a **** about PEN-AR unless he's just spamming missiles. A single-class Wizard has a rough early game, but the moment you get Noxious Burst you can clear waves of enemies in two casts at most. I don't know what you consider "strong", but in my POTD playthrough the only weakness of my Wizard was that I had to be careful about not destroying my own team members by accident. On casual lol The level 11 Wizard in the vid I posted earlier has this stats for Noxious Burst: PEN 8.8, 55-74 damage ACC 58 vs Fortitude, ok applies Sickened for a better chance on the second cast. How come Wizard doesn't give stars about PEN-AR? Oh on casual, I see. Show me the vid where you are clearing waves of enemies on PotD* as soon as you get Noxious Burst, else I call it bull stars. --- edit: with Level Scaling on You can have two pull of eora at the same time? Really ? That is stupid OP delete your post before obsidian see it and add it to the nerf list in the next patch
