TOTY wow, that trailer is so messed up, i got slightly emotional watching that. It is a mixture of disgust and fascination. So well done, yet seeing what happens to that family... I am definitely going to keep my eye on this game, unless i start hearing horrible things, so far looks like something i will want to get.

Awesome, i picked it up and installing it now, sheesh it is getting to the point that i now only buy my games on steam...when they are on sale Thank you all for your comments

Hey, wanted to ask some opinions, Steam now has King Author The Role Playing Wargame on sale now for $2.99 alone and the complete pack for $11.99, have other people played this game? I want to know what people think about it, it looks a little bit like the total war series and I love Rome Total War though i haven't played the games after that. I have been hankering for a game similar to Rome Total War, i am wondering people think this game is worth it?

You can get a quest that will get you inside. ED-E's quest line will get you in, something will happen and you will be given access -
Well i am not mourning my lack of inventory space with my warlock. I pop him on today to redo his talents and i have almost an entire bag free! The only thing i dislike about my warlock now is that due to the change in the talent tree my 64 warlock no longer can get that spell which gives you health in the same amount of it damaging the enemy. I am having a brain fart and cannot remember the name of the spell.

Alright i admit i haven't been keeping up with DA2 and perhaps this has been asked and answered so I apologize....but after watching that video one thing kept on nagging me....why does it seem to be a third person hack and slash game? Not that i dislike hack and slash games, i do enjoy them. But if I want Dynasty Warriors i will buy dynasty warriors. Not that I am writing off DA2, it might end up being great, but i did enjoy the combat from the first game.

Well i am annoyed as a healing druid. My precious tree form is now a 30 second ability! It enhances 5 spells or so and it has a 3 minute cool down. So basically it is a spell you bring out during boss fights when you foresee a need to be able to heal well. Otherwise you have to use your regular form. This is annoying since apparently since balance and feral can keep their forms all they want yet healers got penalized. Besides the massive lag i have had to deal with so far, besides my precious druid being nerfed the patch is nice enough. I will have to get used to the new paladin changes and my girlfriend is hating the patch do to all the changes and that she has to get used to everything being changed on her. She doesn't like rapid change heh heh.

i am excited for the new patch, though i am not sure about the changes to Paladins. I guess i will just have to get used to it. Though i like the new Justice point system.

I am an active player and I am greatly looking forward to cataclysm. I really want maps to the old dungeons like they have for the northrend dungeons. Also the fly anywhere and more flight paths are something i have wanted or a long time

I downloaded it, had massive amounts of trouble find a game to play without being disconnected. Finally got into one game, i was the medic, the officer and heavy weapons guy leaves the tech guy and me behind, and despite my efforts the tech guy gets killed and we lose. Then i disconnected. Maybe another day i will have a functioning group and have more fun.

Crazy people... Allowing to spy on them, because it's convenient? lol... and they are crying loud how communism is depriving another people of their human rights... I am allowing a business to look at the programs on my computer, now if Steam steals my identity then I will come back and join the anti steam crowd and say they were all right. I said that communism deprives people of their human rights? There has never been a real communist state so it is impossible for that statement to be true. Don't include me with fictitious comments

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground
Atom523 replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah you can have several hero based characters and they could die....frequently . I like the book series, so i am curious to see how they get this to work. Who wants to bet that the game comes out before the next book does? -
I will get it for PC, i like Steam. I find it incredibly convenient, there are games that i was able to get on steam that i couldn't play anymore. My game disc of Sacrifice was scratched and wouldn't install anymore, i couldn't find any copies on line that weren't grossly overpriced. I managed to get it on steam for like 6 dollars thanks to a steam sale. Games like Dawn of War 2 and its expansion i would never have gotten at full price at a store but when they were on sale on steam i couldn't resist. I am always worried that with new technology my old games won't work, if i can get them through digital download for a nice price i would snatch them up in a second. Steam wants to browse my computer? Fine let it, i will trade that for the convince it lends, it wants to patch my games? Sure one less thing i have to do, i always hated searching for new patches every once in a while. I always go with steam for my PC games, why pay full price when i can wait a few weeks to months after it comes out and grab it on the steam sale.

What's Happening at The Silver Lining Website?
Atom523 replied to Graham of Daventry's topic in Computer and Console
Even if you get it to work, it is the Mask of Eternity, that should be a red flag already. I personally hated that game. Maybe it was because it was called Kings Quest and the only thing it had in common with the previous games was that it was set in the same world. I was bitter about the game play changes and the fact that you are playing a tanner. -
I did a quick search and couldn't find a topic like this, i am sure it has been talked about but the search function didn't show me any. I recently downloaded the Knights of the Old Republic 2 Content Restoration mod, and you know it has been loads of fun. The new stuff is interesting and a lot of it really adds to the game. Now the game does freeze up occasionally and crash occasionally but i have learned to use the quick save option a lot and usually don't lose more then a few minutes. As a consequence of this all my saves are relatively close together, with only one save being a few hours behind the rest. Here lies my problem, I have finished Dantooine, and just finished Nar Shadda, i was going to head to Onderon next, grab Mandalore have a good time. However, the game decided that i don't need to continue playing. It decided that it needed to trigger the Red Eclipse cut scene again, and whenever I enter the Ebon Hawk it loads up the Red Eclipse sequence minus the actual enemies. So I cannot leave Nar Shadda as I cannot do anything on my ship. There is a solution to this problem! There is a patch i can download specifically for this problem, all i need to do is download it an then load a save that takes place before I got to Nar Shadda! Except the fact that the game crashes so much all my saves are close together thus all are while I was on Nar Shadda. Then when i try to download the patch the site tells me that i am over my limit for downloads even though i haven't downloaded anything from the site. Good times huh? So i have to give up my 16+ hours of game time (actually longer considering the parts i had to replay when the game would crash 8 times in a row) and I have very little motivation to pick up the game for the next few days. (it would make it easier if i could cheat a bit to speed through the earlier parts but the cheats don't work for me so oh well) I guess i will wait a week or two before trying again. Replaying the game is one thing, replaying a game that frequently crashes and freezes is another. So anyone else want to vent about game bugs that have driven you up the wall?

For the new DLC are you refering to the Darkspawn Chronicles? I picked it up, for the novelty, It was kinda nice for one pay through but i doubt i will play it again. Not sure it was worth the 5 bucks but i don't feel totally ripped off. Rather short but i didn't really expect too much more after playing through other DLCs like Warden's keep.

A game influenced by the ideas of Nietzsche
Atom523 replied to Meshugger's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah Xenosaga is an acquired taste All this talk has inspired me to play Xenogears again, as I cannot find my copy of Final Fantasy Tactics. Console games aren't that complicated, though, i do prefer the older console games, like original Nintendo, super nintendo, up to the first playstation. The newest consoles don't inspire the same amount of excitement as the old ones did for me. -

Yeah, sorry for not mentioning it, Playstation 2 exclusive games. Yeah, emulators is a way to go though i am not familiar with the availabilty of the games through emulators. If you cannot find any to be honest finding a used PS2 can be very cheap. It has been a while since i played the games, i know you can pause the cutscenes and yes for a few of the super long ones aka the 40 to 60 minute ones they will give you the option of saving the game. They use the same characters each game, though they do add one character during the second game. Each game has a specific quest and plot line but they are all interwoven together for an ultimate climax at the end. The games are all pretty linear with minimal side quests. A few here and there to get a few special equipment, i believe in the first game you can unlock a power rangers type robot. I was quite saddened by how the third game took the religious symbolism and changed it to a hammer smashing it into your head, the first two games were thick with it but compared to the third game they are very subtle. If you have some knowledge of judeo christian mysticism you will enjoy the game more as you will recognize more of the terms they use. There is a system database where they explain the terms but generally that is after they are used in conversation and cutscenes so if you don't know anything about the subject you will be quite confused until you go on a database hunt to find out what the hell they were talking about. I love the games (except the second one) though i cannot deny that there are a lot of flaws which make it harder for strangers to the genre to enjoy it. I am very much part of the target audience, i love JRPGs, i like slightly convoluted storylines and sometimes cheesey dialog. I am a big fan of mysticism and find it interesting, plus i am a big sci fi fan. Oh, and the first game goes with a very animeish animation, while the second and third game alter it to be a bit more realistically proportions, personally i liked the first animation style better but that is just me. I do greatly agree with Irrelevant, Xenogears is one of the best JRPGs ever made. Even in its unfinished state its combat system, mecha combat, characters and storyline are amazing in my opinion. If you play them both you will understand why so many people believe they are part of the same series, the team of Xenosaga took great pains to cater to the Xenogears fans. Though in my humble opinion Xenogears is better. (heh heh after writing this i am not sure if gave a very positive message about the game heh heh, i do love the games that were good and do recommend it but i feel it is my responsibility to warn you about potential things you might not like so if you do pay anything for it you don't feel like i tricked you if you do not like it) -

Alright, i have played through all three games. Alright first and foremost you have to like JRPGs to enjoy these games, they are all designed as old school JRPGs with the slight difference (not really slight) of having massively long cut scenes where the storyline is progressed. Some cut scenes last a minute or two, some can clock in at 45 minutes to an hour. You need plenty of free time if you plan on playing these games. The characters are interesting many characters are well written and the voice work is i believe above average, not the best but you won't want to stick a knife through your ears when it comes to most of the characters. The plot can be a bit convoluted at times (more and more as the series goes on) but has enough twists and turns to make things interesting. Characters drive the storyline, and the game has a well made group of antagonists that shouldn't bore you. If you can take the massive amount of cut scenes there is a interesting story with like i mentioned well made characters. Xenosaga is the spiritual successor to Xenogears. It isn't the same universe nor is it part of the same series. Copyright to Xenogears is with Square Enix so Monolith tried to make it as similar as possible without breaking the law (Xenosaga was made by former Squaresoft employees who had made Xenogears) Now on to the gameplay, turn based combat, several attacks per character with various special moves...in the first game i mean. The First game has a fluid on foot combat system which personally i found to be a joy to play. Combat is fast paced enough to be interesting while still giving you the time needed to make decisions and enough choices to keep things from becoming boring. If there is any fault in the combat system i believe is that later on in the game when you have massive special moves which all have little sequences there is no way t skip them but that is minor. There are times when you control a giant mecha in combat, though those battles feel tacked on and not that impressive. The second game.....the combat system is pure crap, they took everything that made the combat good in the first game and tossed it out and replaced it with a system where you build up AP for several turns before you can do anything even remotely effective. Battles take forever to finish and the random battles feel more like a chore then anything else. Storyline and characters are still very interesting and the exploration into the past of several characters is very interesting. It is almost worth the bad gameplay but not quite. This game is the poster child for things like Action Replay or Gameshark, cheating to make the combat simple so you can see the storyline is something i encourage. The one thing that this game does well is the mecha combat which is far superior to how it was done in the first game. The machines feel necessary and powerful as opposed to how weak and pathetic they were in the first game. The third game reintroduces several elements of the first game's combat back into the game. It creates a hybrid of both combat systems which not as good as the first game is still far better then the second one. The issue with the third game is the plot. You see Xenosaga was suppose to be a 6 game series, the second game was so bad that they had to cancel several of the games and condense the rest of the plot into one game. So you will be bum rushed with info and the plot will make several massive jumps which seem confusing and ill placed. Character design is still good, and the characters are still the driving force but things seem very rushed in this game. The plot becomes very convoluted and downright silly near the end. Mecha combat is similar to number 2 so it is still well done. Religious symbolism is rampant in each game (first and third having the most) it can get tiring unless you do have some interest in judeo christian mysticism. I overall would recommend this series, though the second game is a chore to get through, but if you can plow through that one you might find a good fun game/movie :-P Now if you hate the idea of frequent 20-30 minute cut scenes then the game isn't for you. If you don't mind it then there is a very good game series here. -
I am currently playing the Starcraft 2 beta. I preordered the game and got access, i didn't play for a few days as I was never all that good at multiplayer starcraft 1. I finally start it and to my surprise they start you off in a practice league and don't let you face good players in the beginning. So i was actually able to win more matches then i lose. I am really enjoying the beta, though on 1v1 i am actually now into the competative matches (the lowest rung one) and i am starting to meet people who are better then me. I am doing as many unranked matches as possible, so i actually have a chance of winning heh heh. I am now really looking forward to the single player, i am quite excited for july.

I can definitely understand the frustration of things like that. But like RPGMasterBoo said there are many system that are much simpler then D&D that don't involve as many charts and graphs and frequent calculations. Heck my first posts on this forum was talking about the game system I play Dark Refuge which is designed for people who have gotten sick and tired of all the overly complex rules of P&P type games. There is a single page of rules, and in relatively large print heh heh. If you are willing to give P&P another chance and look around, I am sure there are a few games that can renew your faith in them. However if you need a vacation from them i can totally understand.

I don't like that at all. If it is the director of 13 then when yo play the remake of 7 you will only control Cloud and everyone else will have to fulfill MMO roles That is the problem with remaking older games, people want to be creative and they are going to screw with what made the games popular in the first place. Leave classic games where they are....except FF4....i keep pumping out money for every incarnation of that game.

Yeah it is quite annoying. I picked up the game yesterday and every time I want to play the game i need to log in. It is ridiculous and a constant annoyance.
