  1. How could I forget Myth:TFL ... 1. Planescape: Torment 2. Myth: The Fallen Lords 3. Icewind Dale (with expansions)
  2. Planescape: Torment Icewind Dale (with expansions) Ultima V
  3. Well, the downside for us so called "veterans" is that, posting messages like these, we are suddenly starting to feel very old even if we are still in the mid-twenties or so <{POST_SNAPBACK}> mid-twenties is old? *Trips over beard going down the hall of the Old Gamers' Home. Breaks hip.*
  4. "Questron" on the C64. Never played a console RPG
  5. Hmm... played Torment too many times to ever look at it through rose-coloured glasses, and have to agree with Arkan. First time I played it, after being just blown away by the ending, I thought, "Well...what exactly did he do?" Then I played it again and learned some things I hadn't discovered the first time, and then played it a third and fourth time, and learned a few more things... realized I didn't really want the details of the Nameless One's crimes. Didn't even want his name.
  6. Whenever I installed PS:T (4 CD version) the only disc used during installation was the first; the other three are only used in-game, unless you manually do a full install. You haven't by any chance applied the official patch have you? The 2 CD version is already patched and re-patching causes problems.
  7. Been awhile since I tried to play Lionheart, but didn't some ex-BISers have a hand in developing Lionheart? Thought I'd seen some familiar names in the credits.
  8. Wow...another fan. I was blown away by Tigana. I still haven't read the Tapestry...even tho I bought it years ago. I mostly read sci-fi like Asimov or Jack Chalker, or fantasy...with a little horror and historical fiction thrown in (particularly the US Civil War period). But I became tired of never ending series syndrome and stopped reading, mostly, several years ago. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Loved Tigana! You definitely have to read the Tapestry. As they were his first books, its interesting to see how he's grown as an author
  9. Thought Torn was cancelled for a few reasons, not just PS:T sales figures. IIRC, BIS Folks were having trouble getting the game mechanics and story together as well, until finally it became counterproductive to keep working on it.
  10. Can't believe I forgot System Shock 2 ... *bumps IWD2 down to honourable mention on my list*
  11. Anything by Guy Gavriel Kay, but most especially the Fionavar Tapestry trilogy.
  12. If you like story and well done NPCs then I'll repeat my initial recommendation.
  13. Lot of reading to do in PS:T, no question, but that's no reason why it can't be enjoyed by anyone. I wouldn't say it's any more confusing than any other game... it's just different.
  14. Get Planescape: Torment, if you're gonna play an IE game.
  15. Planescape: Torment Myth: The Fallen Lords Icewind Dale (+HoW +TotL) Fallout Ultima IV Ultima V Fallout 2 Command & Conquer: Red Alert Baldur's Gate (+TotSC) Icewind Dale 2 Honourable Mention: BG2
  16. Both Fallout manuals were right on the CDs with my copies... alternately, used to be able to download them on the Ashford City website and fora. Haven't been there in a while, so I dunno if they're still up.
  17. Sure. Drop him from the party before entering the Lower Ward for the first time, then pick him up again afterwards.
  18. ^ makes me want to play Torment again.
  19. ^ Same here, although I was doing the not eating/sleeping/shutting off the pc thing throughout the whole game, first time I played it. The fit of rage only happened that one time.
  20. ^ Went through the same kinda feeling when I replayed Torment for the first time. Took almost a month to really get into it again, but once I did all was good. Also, this was before I discovered Infinity Explorer, so I was still learning new things all on my own (or from the forum discussions) up until the fourth or fifth time I replayed it. The subsequent 15 times were just for fun... really.
  21. Torment was once described by a friend as, "a gem among pebbles." For me, this statement still holds true today.
  22. ^ What a surprising reply Never tried Soulbringer, but the others are all good, so... how about order of release? FO1, 2, PS:T.
  23. Complex RPG gamer, that's me
  24. Planescape: Torment> all. "
