Hmm. Okay, it's not absolutely necessary to have TotL to finish the game, but it sure is a fun expansion. Maybe try a download manager like GetRight, that will resume a download where it left off if your connection is broken?

Yes. Yes it is.

Torment, by far, despite its flaws, for its characters and its story. No other game I've played made me care about the characters so much. No other game left me sitting at the PC, speechless, when I finished it. Would love to see it re-made to support higher resolutions, better inventory management ...blah blah blah... all the technical stuff they learned to do better for the IE games that came after. IWD + HOW + TotL. Best dungeon-crawl I've played. Severed Hand and those damnable ghost orcs and goblins. Around. Every. Turn. Grrr. Argh. Dragon's Eye and Dorn's Deep. Kresselack's Tomb! I used to think clerics were only good for carrying healing potions! Makes me want to install the game again. BG2 + ToB. Second only to Torment in terms of number of times played. It's cheesy in a lot of places, but damn its fun. IWD2. First experience with 3E rules. Could almost place this above BG2 for the character customization alone. Almost. Actually think I spent more time building parties than I did playing BG2! Beginning of the game was awesome. I got totally immersed in stopping the goblin raids and busting that damn dam, and the fight on the bridge. BG + TotSC. Always will remember it fondly, but couldn't complete it a second time without Tutu. Never really understood why people liked the city of Baldur's Gate so well. I rushed through the rest of the game after I got to that point so I could play Torment. Shrug.

You are assuming that the MAXIMUM estimate of the developers is the correct one. However normally even the minimum estimate is normally an overexaggeration. This is from my experience, at least. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ... it had to happen sooner or later... roshan managed to be making a genuine point. anybody 'round here live near the ocean? has the seas turned to blood yet? while Gromnir would be perfectly satisfied with a 40 hour game, developer estimates is typical ridiculous. vol points to ps:t as being 40 hours... but estimated hours were 60+. anybody recall HoW? that game were so short and so underwhelming that to salvage some of their dwindling reputation with fans, fergie had bis develop a free add-on to HoW. get josh on the board and get him to tell you what were bis announced estimates of the 10-15 hour HoW. even if you is one of the folks that does every possible quest and dialogue in a crpg, a safe bet is to cut bottom end of developer guestimate by 1/3. 30-40 hours becomes 20. *shrug* regardless, the important thing to 'member is that roshan had a real point. so please excuse us while we go get started on our bomb shelter. HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone who's played Torment knows that there is missing content. Curst in particular was scarred. It's been almost 6 years to the day since I first completed the game, and at least 5 years since it was a "main" topic back on the old IPlay boards, so my memory is kinda fuzzy on whether this was covered anywhere... say, on the old Developer's Cage boards, but I'm wondering whether that 60+ hours of gametime was estimated before or after the final product shipped?

I dunno, You can take all the time you like thinking of how you're gonna roleplay a given in-game situation... for that we have a pause button. But you're given choices right? You pick the choice that most closely matches your roleplaying preference. Taking the time to choose is real-time, though, not game-time... if you follow me, and so not included specifically in the "30-40 hours". Also, for Arkan: I think, going from that quote, perhaps the role-playing bit can come under plot-twisting and dungeon-romping?

Hmmm, wasn't the level cap for BG, with TotSC, 8-9 (10 for a thief)? ... Also, kinda wondering how many of those 60 hours were spent tromping through (mostly) empty maps. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed BG as well, and I can't remember how many hours it took me to complete. It was quite a few, cuz I tromped through all those empty areas myself.

Has there been any word on what the expected average level will be at the end of the single-player game? For example, I seem to remember something like this for IWD2, where someone stated a full party of 6 characters could expect to be around 15th to 17th level by the end of the game on normal difficulty. Maybe I'm wrong, it was quite awhile ago. But I do remember my party was right around that. What I'm saying is, no point in getting all bent out of shape about being a level 20 uber-whatever 30 minutes into the game if it's not gonna happen.... right?

Picked up KOTOR (playing that at the moment) and KOTOR II over the holidays, also the Halflife anthology and Halflife 2, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, and NHL 06, and am considering getting the NWN Diamond Pack if I can find it, so I'm gonna be busy leading up to NWN2. Also still have to install and play Morrowind GOTY edition, and *cough* Lionheart *cough at some point, I guess.

Have to agree with Volourn. Took roughly 40 hours to complete Torment the first time I played it... missed a few things in the first third of the game... and despite being quite linear and fast-paced in the second half, that was the most enjoyable game I've ever played. If NWN2 is a quality game, 40 hours for the single-player portion is plenty.

Perhaps it's "Human Stupidity: 1" because she plans to jump again a couple of months after her baby is born.

92% scored higher (more nerdy), and 8% scored lower (less nerdy). What does this mean? Your nerdiness is: Definitely not nerdy, you are probably cool.

Myth: The Fallen Lords, and Myth II: Soulblighter. Never played Myth III, so can't comment on it, and these aren't RPGs, but they're fantasy and great fun.

I don't mind the shootouts, in the regular season when only a point is at stake.

World Series- Who do you think should win?

Wow thanks for that link... passed the minimums on everything but the video card. I think it said I don't have a pixel shader. It's a fairly old card anyway.

Red Sox are gone, Braves are gone, Yankees can follow 'em. Go 'Stros!

Had a lot of fun playing Quake II years ago. I'd be stoked about this if I had a PC that could run the game.
