Yep, after watching how San Jose got past Detroit, I was starting to think maybe this was their year to at least get to the finals. Too bad for the Sharks, their offseason could be very interesting.

Ouch. Jeez, I was gonna pick Philly to win too, now I dunno. Of course, my success rate isn't much better.

I dunno, Chicago looks awfully tough as well.
  4. No MP option really took away from the success of both those games too Never implied it did. Because, the surprising thing is, most complainers actually both the games. Looks also like Alpha Protocol will end up in the mid-to-high eighties on Alpha Protocol going by these early reviews. Not bad imho. Yep, sorry, was in edit mode while you were replying.
  5. No MP option really took away from the success of both those games too EDIT: to add: So any reviewer who laments this is pandering to the complainers. Fair enough if it sells mags, but that's all it's worth.
  6. Not on the x360 & squad ammo. I see. The only time I ever seemed to run into that problem on the PC was with Grunt and auto levelup turned on. He'd max out incendiary ammo asap and pick squad ammo by default.
  7. That new 360 patch is supposed to be coming out for the PC sometime soon as well. The squad ammo fix will be nice, although turning off auto levelup for the squad and not assigning the 4th rank in ammo also worked. The planet scanning never bothered me after the first time I played the game, thanks to the save editor. With this new story driven DLC, and the Kasumi DLC, and the Hammerhead DLC, I really hope Bio raises the level cap and gives us an extra bonus power or something. It's way too easy to hit level 30 well before the Omega 4 relay as it is. I'd also like to be able to have EDI amass a crapload of data on the Although maybe that's one of the first things we get to do in ME3, after the
  8. Sniper rifles and a good cover system. Hot damn. content?? how about delighted? thrilled? Thanks for the info Oner, great stuff
  9. So the minuses are all in the graphic side of things. I can live with that, and I gotta say the kungfu animations I've seen in various trailers look just fine. The pluses sound like great pluses, especially the "story that humbles books and movies". Wonder what the 'no physics' thing means exactly. Did the reviewer elaborate on that?
  10. Some time ago, a couple years at least, I came across an article about a group of astronauts spending over 500 days in a locked module to simulate the effects of a journey to Mars. IIRC, at the time anyone could submit an application to undergo the simulation, and that's what made the article really interesting...well, to me anyway. I didn't apply, but still it meant that, besides space stations, we're one step closer to living beyond the Earth. Cool stuff. Anyway, it appears they are now going forward with the simulation. Six men get ready for 520-day simulated Mars trip.

San Jose over Chicago in 6. The Sharks shrugged off that one embarrassing loss in the last round easily enough, and the Hawks handled Vancouver's diminished defense easily too. Tough call. Philly over Montreal in 6. Gotta give it to the Habs. they're playing really well, and anyone who knocks off Washington and Pittsburgh deserves respect, but they're in the Northeast division, so the Flyers are my lesser-of-two-evils pick.

1-3 for me, but it's tough to be overly disappointed. Although I picked Boston to beat the Flyers, I'm not unhappy they lost.
  13. And Garrus is The Conflicted Ex-Cop, and Liara is The Bookworm, and Ashley is The Racist Marine, and Kaidan is... well, in my games Kaidan is always The Short Straw On Virmire. Any of them can be characterized (caricaturized?) in such a way. Big deal. I would say that for you it's not about the quality of the writing, but about personal preference. You didn't feel that all the things Tali and Wrex tell you about themselves and their people give them depth beyond "The Quarian Chick" and "The Frog Guy"... and that's perfectly okay. I disagree with you, but I'm not going to try and convince you your opinions are wrong.
  14. It's gonna be difficult choosing which skills to upgrade. I usually ignore melee combat when given an option, but here it looks like so much fun.

Apologies to Deraldin, but same here. Too bad about the 'nucks, but not really surprising.

I shouldn't be surprised by Vancouver's less-than-spectacular play in this round. They did the same thing last year, although they don't have the excuse of a ten day layoff between rounds this time.
  17. That list is flawed. How the heck does The Tuxedo - a jackie chan kungfu spy comedy - qualify as sci-fi?

Aaaaaaaaaaaand Detroit lets everyone know they're not done yet. ouch.
  19. It'll be enough to know you've already been playing the game for a week .
  20. Me too, I'll be waiting for the game to arrive in the mail, and avoiding this sub-forum like the plague.
  21. Hmm, my take on it is that a suspect must be affiliated with a known terrorist organization in order to be stripped of citizenship and thus denied miranda rights. the article doesn't mention any definition or breadth of scope to determine how deep one's affiliation with such an organization must go in order to be subject to lieberman's law... if it should ever become a law, that is.
  22. Watched Avatar on Blu-ray the other day. As my first Blu-ray experience, all I can say is holy crap that was impressive. Characters not so deep, but good casting made them entertaining. Plot not so deep, but the action sequences were stunning and I thought the pacing was very good throughout.
  23. Haven't we known for awhile now that AP would use this Uniloc DRM scheme? There's another thread about it here somewhere.
