  1. Since the game has an injury system for kith, wouldn't it be more logical that the enemy crew is still on deck but injured?
  2. I totally agree on casters not having enough passives, and it is true for all of them, except cipher if you count them amongst casters. Now on CC: I don't feel like I struggle applying it even on PoTD. My chars have decent/good per though. And with duration increasing with PL, even grazes are good enough most of the time. The real problem is that "hard" CC are very potent compared to debuff. Charm/Dominate, Paralyse and Terrify completely turn battles. Everything else is lacking once you get passed the early game. Maybe the CON afflictions are ok on tougher ennemies due to how much they reduce hp pool and healing. If anything, I would nerf the accuracy of abilities that cause the hard CC. That would give some relevance to other debuffs. A -5 debuff on resolve means that every attack targeting will have 10% more chance to hit/crit/graze, which is irrelevant when you can never miss, but very important when you hard CC misses half the time.
  3. A lot of wrong info here. Sneak attack provides 30% at lvl 1 but scales with PL. For a multiclassed character it ends up at +60% without PL bonus. This is not taking deathblows into account for a potential +110%. Riposte is not very potent even on characters designed for it anyways. Streetfighter is not meant for ranged (unless you use the blunderbuss modal), and anyways his intention is to get Assassin. Ranged cannot indeed flank by themselves, but his companion can flank. And anyways, flanking is very unessecary to trigger sneak attack or even deathblows, given the huge amount of affliction that a rogue can cause. Not even counting the party. Backstab indeed works only when <2 m, but there is absolutely no need to take backstab. The assassin passive will trigger from every ability and attack from stealth, no matter the range. The combo Assassin/Ranger is very potent, and not micro intensive.
  4. It does affect the debuff from blunderbuss modal, similar to Defiant Apparel. Your character will not be distracted, and therefore not flanked (not triggering streetfighter passive).
  5. You need to create one set of action per buff you want to cast, and determine the condition or cooldown for that set. Tell us exactly what you need to cast on who, we might be able to help you more precisely
  6. As the title suggests, in my game, when you use the cipher spell time parasite, the hands of the character keep glowing blue after combat ends, and remain there even if you change zones. Only loading a save removes the effect. How to reproduce: Cast time parasite and finish the combat, then walk around.
  7. Pure ranger is viable in veteran, but it is not optimal (as mentionned, PL 8 and 9 of the ranger are really lacking. Shadowed Hunters is cool for rp purposes but that's about it, and ranger abilities do not benefit that much from the +3 power levels you would get). Assassin will increase your damage output greatly, almost every attack from stealth will be a (enhanced) crit, and sneak attack is super easy to trigger. Not only it is viable, it is way more efficient than single class ranger. Just don't take backstab as you will not have any use for it, but the passive of assassin will trigger without issue from range.
  8. Only Squid's Grasp gives immune to flanking by default (which made my rapier user streetfighter veeery sad). For Kapana Tanga it is an upgrade. Just pick the Unblockable upgrade instead of All Comers.
  9. I struggle to understand what you are trying to say ? There is a big issue to fix with the reload time of guns. There seems to be a minimum reload time under which the game does not want to take you, even though the tooltip indicates a much shorter reload time. It's either: A: (most likely) a bug that needs fixing B: Intended but poorly exlained, in that case it needs urgent balancing all the same because it makes an entire playstyle irrelevant.
  10. Although I understand what you are trying to say, your exaggeration, and the way you distort what has been said discredits your argument. There is no denying that either a lot of stuff is terribly overtuned, or the difficulty in veteran and PotD is too low, and probably both. The topic was about specific items that are indeed broken in certain conditions, and those conditions require min-maxing for the scaling items. It is your character development choice to min/max those. You will indeed gain a lot of defenses, and loose a lot of interaction potential, in a game were combat is far from the only thing to do. Fighters, Chanters, or Monks are not inherently OP. I play Eder as a fighter, and he does not feel broken at all. A handfull of abilities in these classes are OP, and break the game if used repeatedly. Why would you use something else ? Because it looks cooler. Because it is more fun. Find your reasons, it's your experience. Why do I wear a valian froc with low armor and zero bonus instead of a robe that has better stats? Because it looks better and it makes me happy. All i am saying is, if you found a way to break the game, break it, and complain that it is broken, then you did that to yourself. There is no competition, no ranking whatsoever, so nothing stops you from playing it differently if it is more fun for you. Once again, I do agree that Deadfire has serious balancing issues that need to be adressed quickly to increase the fun potential even more. There is no denying that and I am really looking forward to those changes. And in particular to make relevant some mechanics that are gimmicky at best at the moment. What I dislike however, is the general trend of thinking that "this mechanic is broken in my way of playing the game and my way of playing is better than yours". Well in my way of playing, none of my characters really have history knowledge. I think Aloth has 8. And therefore giftbearer cloak is not broken. But that fight you could not avoid due to your low insight that comes with maxed history, I could avoid it. A whole fight won without fighting it, how broken could that be ? Please nerf dialogues. Or don't, because my way of playing is mine alone, and not more nor less valid than another's. Who says that I am exaggerating? Monks can one shot any enemy on the field. Wizards/Druids can wipe the entirety of a battle. Chanters can regenerate every class's resource and give everyone +100% healing. Fighters Cleaving stance is silly. High level Paladins can't die. So on and so forth. This is all on PotD. Asking us to not use the stuff that is overtuned is the equivalent of asking us to not use a good portion of items/abilities in the game, most of the classes in the game, and some of the skills in the game. I was for sure being facetious, but I wasn't exaggerating. These items are but a single example of this issue. They give no satisfaction to anyone who wants to have any type of challenge. If it were one or two things that would be one thing. It isn't. The game is replete with stuff like this. The other people on this forum that are the power builders will be here in 6 months making builds. They will answer questions for those that come late to the Deadfire party. They will keep this forum alive for a few years, but only if they find a challenge in order to justify those builds. The PoE forums stayed pretty active for such a small title. It is all on the shoulders of those folks, and it is good for new players to have a place to look for advice. It is wise to ensure they still have that challenge in Deadfire. As that is why they will be here in 6 months, or a year, or 5 years. PoE1 was a small but active community, and Deadfire needs to be the same. Now, I am glad you are finding enjoyment in the game. I am also glad that you feel that you are getting an appropriate challenge in the game. However, this isn't an either or scenario. These items can be reduced in potency, and still be incredibly powerful and borderline broken in lower difficulty settings. At their current power level, however, they trivialize the hardest difficulty. So much so that they make Triple Crown Solo runs breezy. Now, some of that can be alleviated by ramping up PotD, and we know that Obsidian didn't tune it completely. However, there are for sure things that PotD won't fix. Ok where did you miss the part where I said I agreed with those balance issue and I am really looking forward to the change ? I agree with most of what you say here. When I talked about you exaggerating, I was not talking about the statement on some abilities of some classes, that are, indeed, overtuned to the stars. I was talking about "well run around naked and don't use any of the stuff in the game to get your challenge from playing the game" . Call it being facetious if you like, I call it make me look like I said what I didn't say (sorry for broken expression, that's a translation from my native language and I can't find better in english for now to express the idea). I am only criticising the global trend on this forum that tends to make of powerbuilding THE holy-sanctified way to play the game. It is one way to play the game. And since you bring up giving advice on the forum, this is actually where my rant comes from. The powerbuild mentality translates into what is in my opinion biased advice. To pick the latest example I have in mind, to the question: Is Priest of Berath viable and how should I build it? The answer should be: Yes, not op but can be really strong even on PotD, do it like this and this and this for good efficiency. The answer that is often given: Omg no, priest suxx, play Bleak Walker/Troubadour. See the problem ? Now I realize that I probably poorly expressed my idea, since we agree on most of the things and still look like we don't. The point is: Deadfire is clearly designed to let people play. And I feel a wind of self-righteous repression towards players that would dare to play a non-optimized build. Maybe (probably) not from you. I was pointing out the trend.

  12. They are going to be inferior to legendaries because of the lack of effects. (Some uniques weapons have insane effects). They will however deal great damage thanks to the 50% lash. It is not the optimal min-max way of playing your characters, but it will be more than sufficient to take on what the game throws at you, while looking badass and having a ton of fun. And playing a single class priest is exactly the same: there will be some suboptimal stuff, however you gain access to the awesome incarnate spell, and that alone justifies the class in my opinion. For Berath, you summon the Pallid Knight and the Usher. aka a decent frontliner and a priest that can cast all the good spells of berath with as many casts as you. Which means you can have 4 symbols of Berath out at the same time. I assume Magran's incarnate is at least as cool, didn't test it. This forum is full of powerbuilders trying to talk people out of playing fun options, you don't have to listen to them. To answer your question: A priest of Magran or a Priest of Berath will complete the game without issue in Veteran and PotD if you play it properly. It will not steamroll as much as some classes, but will do great and provide a fun experience.
  13. That's artificial difficulty. Likewise the people who want an easy time should just play on the easy difficulties. Path of the Damned was designed for a challenge and is incapable of providing one at the moment. It does indeed not provide a great challenge to characters that are fully min/maxed and using scaling gear with min maxed skills to match these items. It does, however, provide an interesting challenge to characters that are built with a minimum of roleplay where choices are motivated by more than mere stats (like companions and sidekicks are, btw, and there is no denying that they are a massive part of the experience intended by the devs). Still not enough challenge imo, and we all know it has been acknowledged by the devs, and will be tuned, but interesting challenge nonetheless. The conception that PotD should be designed to accomodate powerbuilders is subjective, and quite frankly, not really fitting a game like POE2:Deadfire that focuses on writing, environement, and roleplaying. Also, why putting restrictions on yourself would be artificial difficulty ? Isn't it the essence of a RPG to make choices that your character would make ? Or to reflect his actual skills in the stats ? Is your 4 resolve watcher really a coward ? Does he really know all the history of Eora, but can't even slightly bluff, has zero interest in metaphysics despite being a watcher ? And more importantly: What difference does it make to your personal single player gameplay experience if you: A - don't use an option because you think you will have more fun like this, or B- the option is simply removed from the game ?
  14. In terms of pure healing, druid is considered the class with the strongest heals (Pick Lifegiver). However, from a roleplay perspective, a Priest of Eothas might be the most appropriate. You would have access to a lot of heals that are also very potent, and a lot of protection/buffs as well.
  15. The thing is, if you multiclass you won't get access to the incarnate spell (pl9). And this spell rocks, it's by far the coolest priest spell, no matter your deity. I did not really play it yet, just experimented with it, but I don't see why it would not work, even in PotD, in a party of 5. Only problem is the slow recovery of plate armor combined with the already very long recovery of priest spells. Definitely not op, but playable and roleplayable. And anything op in this game defeats the purpose of PotD at the moment, I tend to avoid those.
  16. Can you still buy from Arkemyr's shop once you leave with Fassina? An imp replaces her at the shop.
  17. To offer a different view, you could go single class Priest of Berath and wear a heavy plate. Berath gives a lot of decay/plague/terrifying spells, summons a greatsword that would perfectly fit a dark knight. And when you reach level 19 and you unlock the incarnate, Berath aspects are the Pallid Knight + the Usher So you have a freaky looking giant evil knight servant, and another entity (I don't know what it looks like because it is invisible in my game due to a bug...) that can cast more Berath spells. You can fill the battleground with symbols of Berath.
  18. I am currently playing a pure cipher (although not ascendant, but it shouldn't matter), and I found that the fastest way to generate focus after level 16 is to dual wield melee and gun. Shoot once with the gun at the lowest deflection ennemy. Unless something goes really wrong, you get 80 focus. Cast time parasite immediately (no recovery from gun), generally gets you at least +100% action speed, sometimes up to +200%. Run in melee range, hack with the melee weapon with insanely high speed. You get ascended, still have the speed bonus from time parasite. Start casting like crazy. I know it feels counter intuitive to spend focus to get ascended but see that as a very short term investment. I'm using Scordeo's trophy and Modwyr, but really any good gun+melee would do the trick.
  19. So I was playing aroud with a priest of Berath, and had two annoying issues: - When you cast the spells minor avatar and spiritual weapon together, both the character and the conjured sword model become invisible. Only the light effects on the model stay visible. - When you use the incarnate spell, you summon a Pallid Knight incarnate, and a Usher incarnate. Except the usher is invisible in my game, I just see a shield and a scepter floating. Does this happen to anyone else ?
  20. After one playthrough on veteran, and another one on PoTD almost wrapped up, I came to the realization that, because classes are overall well designed (not necesseraly balanced, but well designed), they were pretty much self-sufficient in their roles, and the need to use scrolls and items with per rest abilities was almost non-existent unless I forced myself to do it for fun. I used my watcher abilities for RP purposes, and summon figurines because I love this, but that was about it. Now, with the new rest system, per rest can basically become per encounter, as long as you make the effort to do a click. So I started to put some thought into a character that would rely mostly on actives from items and other per rest abilities, and top it off with super high arcanna scrolls. I think this playstyle could provide a lot of fun and variety, and I will probably be looking to do this on my next playthrough (or the one after that as I have currently two characters I want to roleplay, but this is a differnent story) Although I realize this might be doable with basically anyone, the objective is to find a way to somehow optimize it, this is why I am posting this topic: It really is an open discussion to provide ideas, synergies, even stats recommendations etc. You can also discuss the items that have interesting per rest (or per encounter) effects and that would be great for this build. Given how short battles can be, even on PotD, we must make sure to find a build that does not really make use of the class active abilities, as our action time will be taken by using our items. This left me with three ideas: - Ghost Heart ranger: Marked for the hunt and summon pet takes no time. A lot of points can be used to take passives for the pet. Bond can be used by the pet to cast takedown. I went with ghost heart because it is underused, it justifies the use of one bond point to summon the pet, and the ranger doesn't have to worry if something bad happens to the summoned ghost. - Troubadour: Half the interesting stuff for Chanters are passive chant abilities, which obviously don't take action time. Troubadour lets us stack two chants permanently with decent int. Since we will not be casting invocations, the increase cost does not affect us. The stack of phrases is not completely lost either as you can pickup Sasha's very early for extra action speed while holding those phrases. - Black Jacket: Fighters have great passives, and instant self buff that we can cast at the start of combat, and weave in uses of items without affecting our efficiency with those. Black jacket is an obvious choice as a lot of weapons have active spells. The ability to hold for sets, so up to 8 weapons and swap between them without penalty. I could also include wizard, since there are so many instant buff spells that could be cast in three seconds at the beginning of the fight, but I mean, playing a wizard already offers great variety with spells, and it kind of defeats the purpose. I guess it would be very strong though. So, here are my ideas to start the conversation. I think the best combination might be a multiclass Black Jacket/Troubadour, but as I said, this is really open for discussion.
  21. You can wear any hat to instantly become bald. Jokes asides, I do not think the looks of any character can be edited after character creation. You can change posture, voice and portrait though.
