Survival but not always mine.

Star Wars Galaxies was great once upon a time for the reasons that EVE is considered great now. The community and its interactions. There was spies and intrigue. Fame and infamy. Politics, griefing, a mass of stories to tell from characters across the galaxy. The kind of thing that turns a game into a world of its own. A world that you could be a part of, that you helped to build in more ways than just dropping down a house. A world with a developing history. Technical flaws aside, it was great for its time. That time is gone.

I haven't. Good luck to them! -
I want to go on record saying thank you, Nartwak. I'm already on Trilby's Notes.

I knew this had to be tied to the woot offer.

Steam is really hitting it off.

Free point and click adventure games? Don't have to beat me over the head. You can and that would be okay, but you don't have to.

Sure, you can. You can blame anyone for anything. War in Iraq? *points at Spider* Let's give it a try. THOSE GS BASTAGES ARE RUINING THE CONCEPT OF RPGS! rabble rabble

And here I had a friend swearing Capcom gave Nintendo RE exclusivity (something which was claimed before but backed out on).

In response to the topic, I'm currently playing. NWN2 Toolset Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption Battlefield 2142 Final Fantasy XII Occasional bouts of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade I'm also reading The Silent Blade by R.A. Salvatore. And watching Firefly. After which I'll probably watch Farscape in its entirety.

Good luck! I've tried, oh god I've tried. I have all of them sitting at my apartment and I've at least played each of them, just never finished. Heck, for 1,3, and 4 I haven't even saved. Really? Why? I've beaten all 4 before, just never in an ordered set like I have with Resident Evil. I don't handle stress very well. I can't play horror games for long stretches of time. When I played 2 I was on a good roll and could have beaten it, but got sidetracked. 1,3, and 4 I only played to "try them out" and was too scared to continue.

Some people found what they've done with the game fun. I know two people who did for a time. Checking out the trial is the only way to really know. Though most people will suggest just staying away from it.

The time a guy created a character with the deceased's name and posted "rez please" was a lot funnier.

So, you're telling me I need friends in order to enjoy a Wii? Crap, another useless accessory. How much do those go for, nowadays? Think of the same experience like a good game of poker with your drinking buddies :D I pre-ordered mine for 269

I don't imagine Traya could bench too much with only one hand. But, she's not a choice.

Initial impression of screenshot = shenanigans. More to follow. After viewing the video, I caught the title as "GTHD Concept Digest." I'm always wary of concept videos.

How many people replay games as often as that? I loved playing Rescue Raiders on my Apple IIe, but I don't particularly long to play it. I did get an option to play it again not too long ago and did. It was fun because of the nostalgia, but I doubt I'd be disappointed if that opportunity never presented itself again. I played through Metal Gear Solid probably about 3 or 4 times. I started to replay it again with a friend on his PS2, but we didn't make it past Raven in his tank before moving on. The unfortunate thing is that these games are not new. The thrill of playing them rarely comes close to the excitement of playing it the first time. Every now and then a kick of nostalgia will build up and my friends and I will play some old NES and stuff, but it's hardly the end of the day if we would not be able to play them. I see backwards compatibility as added fluff. It's not "the end of the day" but it's still far more than nostalgia. Progress is an illusion. A game from several years back can still be as good as any game released today. Replays be damned. Counter-Strike, a 6 year old game, is still the number 1 online action game and stands as a testament to older games lasting value even in the mainstream. Trivialization of the value of old games is an illusion. One we accept for some reason I won't even try to explain here. The IE engine on which Baldur's Gate is built still has a loyal following. You can see many of these people in related forums and even in the signatures of people in this forum. They're not just in it for nostalgia. And even if it is just nostalgia, think of it as never being able to watch Star Wars again. That wouldn't be "the end of the day" but it should never be discarded and considered only fluff. Personally, I think the ideal solution to the problem is rereleasing. Many of these games could be reworked and resold and I firmly believe they would sell well. Though I have no evidence to back that up. While that didn't entirely work for Star Wars, I imagine it can be done with better restraint to changing the core.

It's not even new for Nintendo. Thing seems like a refined powerglove with a built in light gun.

I find it hilarious. But, I'm oft considered a horrible person. I had one associate block me from AIM for my particularly less than creative idea of a solution to her problems. I'm actually a pretty nice guy, but it's never a bad time for a joke. And considering that I'm actually a student of psychology, you might think it odd. However, I have a defense for that, just no desire to present it here.

Backwards compatibility is immensely important to me. My SNES died so I bought one off a friend to play Super Mario RPG. My PS2 died so I bought a new one for that library. I can no longer buy a SNES off my friends. What will I do to play Super Mario RPG when this one dies? What will I do when the PS2 is discontinued and I want to play Final Fantasy VII? I mean, FF VII! As a gamer the idea that I will no longer be able to play VI, VII, Tactics, Super Mario RPG, Metal Gear Solid, Wind Waker frightens me! I would gladly buy a new console for no other reason than to stave off the death of these classics.

It was definitely scary for me. And I found it mostly enjoyable. But, the "overlong" complaint is one that I'm going to have to mirror. There came a point in each of my three playthroughs right around Hell where I would ask "is it over yet?" and then cheat the rest of the way through just so that I would finish. I didn't cheat because it was hard, but because after a point it became monotonous. (and the reason I played it 3 times was because I kept wanting to beat it without cheating!) Maybe a good story could have broken up the monotony. And actually, and I'm kind of looking to Episode I commentary from Valve, I think it was largely "combat fatigue" that really hurt me with playing that game. The game had no overt downtimes were you could just relax.
