  1. I can't wait for the workday to end. I want to go home and set up my PC as a media server for my PS3, which can then send videos to my TV or even my PSP. I feel like a bloody guerilla marketer. Maybe I am and I just don't know it. Maybe I'm a Manchurian marketer.
  2. Only if you're a bad scenario writer. My understanding has long been otherwise. The novels that help define the setting say the gods can refuse spells. What's the exact quote that makes you claim otherwise? Your scenario is nothing but poor design. It's like trying to make an interesting detective story using a 20+ year experienced homicide detective vs. a redneck lacking a high school education. Redneck: "Well, I dun poored beer on him to make him look drunk. So it would look like some sort of axeseedent." Detective: "But you left the beer bottle with your fingerprints next to the corpse."
  3. Wouldn't misdirection work against that, as well? And you'd still need the Cleric to prepare his spells, which includes getting permission from his god to use them. The god could easily have said "no, figure it out the hard way. Your mayor got murdered, tough."
  4. That would have gone a lot better if the evil guy had been smart enough to cast Misdirection.
  5. I gave Resistance: Fall of Man and The Darkness (demo) a whirl last night. I remember why I don't play FPS games on a console. I died so many times in Resistance. just because I'm a ridiculously poor aim compred to the AI. Aiming overshoots the position too much or else it just aims too slow.
  6. Ironically, if eye witnesses (including a US reporter/photographer on site) are to be believed, none of the suggested measures would have made any difference. Apparantly she was shot when she stood up in her car, waving at the crowds. A bullet proof vest under her clothes would have gone a long way to prolong her political career. The gunman blew himself up after the assassination. Now it's reported that shrapnel killed her and there probably was no gunfire.
  7. Not playing it now, but I just went out and adopted a PS3 and four games. Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Resistance, and Ratchet & Clank Future. Expect to see them on my now playing posts soon.
  8. Let's not confuse the genre fantasy with the common setting fantasy is in. But the "for the purpose of the thread" point stands.
  9. Do they have subs?
  10. I was asking because I'm highly interested in seeing some genuine sci-fi games. If it was sci-fi and not fantasy sci-fi or simply futuristic fantasy like Star Wars, it could be the argument I've been looking for to prevent me from buying a PS3 this weekend. Probably not, but it's possible!
  11. Explaining away your magic with technical terms does not constitute science fiction. Generally, if characters are playing around with super powers at all, then they're breaching into fantasy. But, that's only one theme. Star Wars had multiple fantasy themes it played with. KOTOR had even more. The whole good/evil conflict is another theme of fantasy that they play with.
  12. I was under the impression that Mass Effect is fantasy. I've seen several people liken it to KOTOR.
  13. You start getting silver points at later levels.
  14. I never bothered putting points into any sign except Aard and Igni until I ran out of places to put bronze points elsewhere. And Aard I never put any silver points into.
  15. Igni is most of the damage I dealt in the later stages of the game.
  16. Isn't sense motive a wisdom based class-skill for clerics?
  17. I'm fluent in English, bad English, fake English, 1337, and babelfish English. I can understand him.
  18. - Alvin can time travel - Both are a source. - They both have a Dimeritium amulet. Aldersburg's is familiar, but older. - They both are plagued by visions of the same thing. - Aldersburg regurgitates the things you told Alvin. "You always said..." - Aldersburg claims he owed you the very first time you meet him. - You never see Aldersburg until after Alvin has disappeared. - Alvin plays a game of "kill the elf" with his friends. He gets to play the Grand Master. And he always wins. Some things are less obvious. Such as Aldursburg's opinions changing based upon dialogue. If you encouraged Alvin to become a Witcher, you find out Aldersburg was creating the mutants to be new perfected Witchers. Mostly I think it is quite clearly signposted once the player accepts two things. 1) Alvin can time travel. 2) Blonde children aren't always blonde when they're older. These are the two things people miss the most. However, once Aldersburg's amulet is so prominently displayed at the end, it's an obvious tell in case they missed all the other clues.
  19. I don't believe there are DVDs of Monster.
  20. I don't think it's signposted so clearly as to leave no room for doubt, I see that you chose Shani. Do I need to make a list?

    Leave him alone! He's adorable!
  22. Silly? It's awesome! A reasonable introduction that eliminates a previously believed weakness.
  23. My stupid cat won't let me play Daxter. I wish he'd get a job.
  24. Hopefully you have some upgrades to Aard which make it stun. You can kill in one-hit a stunned enemy.
