  1. Wait, wait, this is an actual purchase service? Awesome, then. If they get a good selection. It sounded like Gametap with the "games-on-demand" thing.
  2. I am shocked and appalled.
  3. I'll check tonight. Edit: I just did a quick check online since wiki often has summaries of the DSM definitions and criteria. There is no distinction. The DSM prefers to use the term dependence and doesn't use the word addiction at all.
  4. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS! Where's my gun?
  5. That sounds dangerously like somebody who has narcissism, antisocial personality disorder or generic 'psychopathy'... though I suppose such personality disorders would likely be all but required to score 'evil' on such a test. Somehow, I'm not all that surprised. I'm the one here with a copy of the DSM-IV. Let's not get into a role reversal!
  6. The hardcore comic fans loved Iron Man. Many of them are quite excited by the potential for a future Avengers movie. I expect Captain America and Thor to bust, though.
  7. Dungeon Siege wasn't crap because it was 'streamlined.' It's crap because it has absolutely nothing of value to note within it beyond the similarity to Diablo. Without any of the things that made Diablo exceptional. It's "streamlined" in the way that Uwe Boll films are "streamlined." Consisting largely of portions that either make you want to gag at how stupid it is or that bore you to the point you want to walk out.
  8. I'm waiting for a crpg where the player character never actually has to move from their starting sport for the duration. Instead the entire game just comes right to him and there's no dialogue at all but just some sort of "action substitute". Streamlined. http://www.progressquest.com/ Is good game.
  9. I can't take anything negative away from this. It's pretty much Valve's philosophy. Don't put the player in a situation where he'll want to put the controller/mouse down. It could be done in many ways. Valve will sometimes trap you in a room, but give you lots to do if you don't want to pay close attention. Obviously, this guy doesn't want that route. It also allows for a companion character who would just rattle on while you do your dungeon diving, as opposed to getting locked into a dialogue back-and-forth scheme. Then at some point you're given a choice, but not a social choice, a choice of action. It's not a bad design philosophy. I'd go so far as to say it can be a good one.
  10. Strap rockets on an Ordinatus.
  11. I like the art direction. The platforming was lackluster.
  12. I liked Vancian. On paper. I give it points for originality.

I asked on the official Sam & Max Episodes forums if anyone had a gif featuring Max go through his menacing animation, as I'd spent some time trying to capture it using FRAPS to no avail. One of the developers ripped it out using the Telltale Tool for me.
  14. I bought all three seasons of The Slayers Friday. Watched 1 and 2 over the weekend. Loving them.
  15. Incorrect, you do need to install drivers. It's easy enough to get them from windows update, though. However, there's a tendancy for the PC to start thinking it's an Xbox and changing your sound settings to the Xbox headset. It's kind of funny, places will charge you $10-20 more for the 360 controller for Windows, when all it does is have a CD with that driver you can get over Windows update.
  16. I'm not bitter about Invisible War. Apparently Krezack thinks that Team Fortress 2 and Portal are bad games. Cause, y'know, they were designed to be ported from the get-go.
  17. That was one of the first things replaced when the problem first arose! I'm good on that end. I don't remember specifically what it is, though.
  18. time to get a console huh? Already have a few. It's more time to scream. And talk over options with my system builder. Given the history of this particular problem, it might not be a bad idea to see about going with both a different motherboard and graphics card just to be safe. As the graphics card has been replaced 2 times already (plus a third which didn't have any problems, but was so low spec playing games was not much of an option), and the motherboard and memory have also been changed. The fact that the temp card seemed to work with fewer problems than this makes me think it might be some absurd negative interaction between the board and this make of card. Get rid of them both just to be safe.
  19. My computer forgot that it was fixed, again.
  20. So, I guess I was the only one who got the news that General Hammond died.
  21. And despite seemingly still having the old problem with this computer, I just played a map of Kane's Wrath no problem. I...just... don't know anymore. It froze twice earlier. And the artifacts on the Sam & Max menu are gone.... Did my computer just remember it was supposed to be fixed or something? Edit: I also seem to have lost a resolution. 1440x900. I'm using a widescreen monitor. Its native is 1680x1050. Both are 16:10. But the former? Yeah, can't find it.
  22. I'm not playing anything, apparently. My computer is broke again. If it wasn't under warranty with this guy I'd go somewhere else. 3 months and counting of not being able to game on a PC.
  23. Valve is cool guy.
  24. nVidia drivers lately have been amazingly poor for the past year or so (that I've experienced). I thought it was pretty bad when my widescreen resolutions started scrolling sideways. Then I couldn't access the control panel. Then scaling did not work.
