  2. The thing is that there is, sometimes, more than one "right" dialogue. The guy in the precinct has at least two outcomes that lead to him letting you roam the station. But you might not know about the other without the aug. Also, the convince option doesn't come up at all without the aug. And that can yield new information and outcomes.

  12. I don't see how it'd make you a powerhouse. I'm not saying unlimited energy or fast recharging. The last battery is simply far superior to all other batteries. Meaning there's no reason to buy more batteries. You can just chow on power bars instead if you absolutely can't wait for the recharge. Which is a corner case, most of the time. The most common ability to use battery on is the takedown. But using takedown when you have more than one battery full is a waste of a battery, since it kills that battery, that would have been better used on another power that might still allow regen. It either needs all batteries to regen, but to take longer, much longer, or to allow takedowns to not kill the entire battery, so it can recover from infrequent use.

  14. That is the absolute definition of raping an established game setting. I think I lost few brain cells just watching that demo. Agreed. Incidentally, it's just occurred to me that we've had the 'staring over the top of a gun' interface paradigm for as long as I've been PC gaming. That is a looooong ****ing time. There must surely be other, better, paradigms. Dark Messiah mixed it up. I think he's more wanting to stare under the bottom of the gun. Unless I misunderstand him.
  15. The one downside to the resource mechanic is that it feels penalizing to have more than one battery. This devalues all battery upgrades except faster regen, as a result. I know I'm not the only one, but I've not had more than a single battery charged since the first enemy in the first mission. Takedowns become too expensive when they get rid of a limited resource. Same for punch-through-walls. And then once that resource becomes unlimited, you're not really wanting to go back. I might eat an energy bar later if I really really need to use cloak for more than 4 seconds. But that's the only reason I can see for it. I'm thinking that all bars need to recharge, even if depleted. Just slowly. That way there's some actual value there for more regular use.

  17. You don't get a penalty, but you don't get the merciful soul bonus. And takedowns get you an expedient bonus. Stun gun is pretty quiet for me.
  18. The difficulty is in the approach. It's not like it's hard to shoot a guy in the head from across the room with a silenced pistol or stun gun. Why should it be so much more difficult to take them down once you've snuck across the room to him?

  22. I draw a pretty significant line between the beginning being a little easier and "highly game breaking." I accept and agree that it makes the game a little easier in the beginning. Never disputed that. I won't even quibble if you disagree with how much easier. But to say it's game breaking seems hyperbolic.
  23. Because you can only wear one armor at a time. Having the tribal armor and the reinforced vault suit isn't exactly going to be any better than one or the other.
  24. That doesn't really sound gamebreaking, since they don't exactly stack. And none of them are useful for late game. And ammo and repairs for some can start off pretty sparse. I say this having used one of the armors and the 10mm pistol myself. The 10mm was so hard to find stuff for, I kept it for the odd radscorp that I couldn't avoid. And the armor gets traded for reinforced or regular leather on the way Nipton.
