  1. *cough*runabout*cough* Star Trek has lots of inconsistency. And how can it avoid it, it has lots of material, lots of writers of varying skill and backgrounds, to be inconsistent with. Anything said about it as a generality will have several exceptions. And it also made concessions for various reasons, narrative effect, drama, not wanting to deal with the special effects of landing the ship every episode. The entire point is that Mass Effect does not have good science and never did. It has lots of technobabble, but not good science. Pointing out Star Trek's science fopaux does not defend Mass Effect against that claim. Spaceships don't become submarines just because it happened in Balance of Terror and Wrath of Khan, either. It's not a bad thing that Mass Effect has bad science. I just find it silly to pick out beam weapons being weak as somehow worse than the stealth and window problem.
  2. Anything you can see with the naked eye in space, you would be so close to it, you'd be incapable of hiding from it. Unless it's a planet. You'd be radiating detectable radiation through that window enough to ruin the stealth, as well. Why, it made perfect sense when they did it on Star Trek. And Star Wars and Stargate. Star Trek didn't pilot by windows. Star Wars did, Stargate does on occasion, but only the most diehard of fans ever gave them brownie points for their science.
  3. You can't have two permanent high level zombies. The permanent zombie spell only allows lower level (human) zombies than the highest level temporary (just about anything) zombie spell. Dremora, which don't get a permanent version, are going to be your most reliable.
  4. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Pretty good. The title sequence seemed more fitting for a Bond film than a thriller/murder mystery. The denouement was overlong, even having omitted parts of the book, but I won't say it was bad extra length. Just uncommon. I won't rush to buy the Blu-Ray when it comes out, but it's enough to make me interested in the book again.
  5. They also did TRON 2.0, which was considered a good game and a suitable sequel to the franchise before Legacy.
  6. The game is pretty liberal with flirt options. I'm not speaking of their political spectrum, it's simply everywhere. But that one is pretty hilarious.
  7. I went to see MI on Saturday. $15.50 for a ticket! And decided to wait for it to leave IMAX.
  8. Having a pilot at the front and a floor to ceiling window at his station is probably significantly worse than beam weapons not being up to expectation. The Normandy isn't a battlecruiser. It's not suppose to engage in combat. Plus since it is designed for stealth, it would have limited sensors as well. Are you trying to tell me that it's a ship designed to be piloted by looking out the window?
  9. It seemed to swing from happy and lighthearted to grim way too quickly. I don't know how to feel! My emotions are a jumble! Am I scared or giddy? But it does give a great sense of adventure and wonder.

I bought both Secret Files games and all three Still Life games (if you count Post Mortem). I will likely never make time to play these games. Oh dear... I'm an addict of adventure games.
  11. They actually called it dark heroic fantasy. I just attribute it to the fact that the phrase is itself entirely made up. But of two real genres that they derive things from. Heroic fantasy, better known as Conan, which Dragon Age was heavily inspired by in at least one stage of development, though it later turned away from that design. And dark fantasy, which has the Cthulhu mythos as the most popular example. The darkspawn do seem to fit as dark fantasy elements, but they don't quite dominate Dragon Age enough to define it.
  12. Survival rates for falls can get silly for light weight animals. The inverse of square cube can surprise. I believe I've heard that feline survival of heights like that is precisely one of the causes for the 9-lives concept, moreso than landing on their feet. I wouldn't throw a puppy off a bridge or anything to test it. But I'd be glad to assume the best for that gif. While cringing every time it repeats.

  14. Tattooine and Nar Shaddaa are the only ones I actually got. Are you say they're the trickiest?

Or DNF. Some people did like that game. But I can't find it in me to risk it.
  16. Interview with Scott So, he's confirming that Prometheus is about the space jockeys. But most people I've talked to don't seem to be picking up on it. Most response I've seen to this is complaints about the confirmation that aliens won't appear. So, we may have some sort of gigantic suit-based alien with biotech as the monster of the film. Or whatever the specifics of his interpretation of them is.
  17. Yeah, the greatest threat to the world NK poses, and has posed for a little while now, is that of a humanitarian crisis. Which is not a thing to be taken lightly.
  18. Might check with the Maesters, I believe that's where it comes from.
  19. Would you mind elaborating that opinion?
  20. Mass Effect never had strong science. It was always space opera, for the drama.
  21. Finished Halo: Anniversary. Now to focus on Mysteries of Westgate. No opinion on MoW yet. It seems a promising start. Start off at level 7, have some adventurer backstory, and get told to engage with one of three factions in the city. All I've done aside from that little bit of background is a quest where all roads seem to lead to failure... which is odd, but I think it's setting up for later. And it definitely seems more talky than fighty so far. Only one fight in the first handful of minutes instead of throwing you to a bunch of them.
  22. Because Krezack is a representative sample.

I hope you don't regret it. I love that game. Absolutely love it. Got Spellforce Universe and Unreal II.
