  1. I refuse to be anything but bitter towards this game until after release. That way I don't get my hopes up.
  2. Rifts. The first game was alright. I'd rolled a Crazy because I wanted to be random and wacky, but the rest of the group was being random enough that I didn't have the heart in me to add to it. The first session was fine. It was around the 3rd or 4th session that I got sick of it. Our DM started getting a little too creepy for my tastes. "You're fighting a vampire, roll for sanity. Critical failure, you just bleep and bleep all over yourself." "Oh, you critical failed too, so now you're fleeing, right through that guy's bleep and bleep, you slip on it and now you're..." you get the drift. That wasn't even the first time that stuff started coming up. The previous session had ended up with people basically abusing one of the AFK player's characters in manners unspeakable. I had asked if we could cut back on that, but the next session was just as bad.
  3. Possible ARG in Half-Life 2. There was an update with localization files, but it ended up turning everyone's game into the Korean language. And there's reports that Breen has been replaced by Kim Jong Un in some capacities. Steam support's twitter is playing with this, claiming it was an error, but also saying "Prepare for unintended consequences" in Korean. Edit: The reports about Kim Jong Un seem to be too few, however. So it's probably a bugged update.
  4. In my opinion if you can label it evil, then it's already a bit juvenile. Selfish choices are juvenile choices. Maybe killing a guy for coin isn't as juvenile as killing a guy because you don't like his hat, it is a spectrum after all. But it's still not as mature as killing him because his death would prevent a greater tragedy. Choices that force players to think beyond good and evil are the mature ones. The choices that might encourage a player looking to do good to instead do something traditionally considered evil, these are the more interesting. They become a challenge in a sense, as they can make the player pause and give it deeper thought. Though, and I have to cut people off here that may misread what I'm saying, I don't support trick choices either. A player intending to do good that chooses the seemingly good choice, should still have a good result. It should just be a different good than that of the guy who thought about it and chose the more ambiguous good. The outcome should reflect what is put into it. Simplistic choices should have simplistic outcomes. Complex choices should have complex outcomes.
  5. Trying to play Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition or Shadow Hearts 2. Both are way too slow for my mood at the moment.
  6. Atari just turned out to be a very bad partner for it in the long term.
  7. No I do not. Because I did not have enough memory to run sound drivers and DOOM at the same time. I played that game completely deaf, nonstop, for 2 years.
  8. And a good part of what people enjoy about Dark Souls is the idea he might be there. People are really just trying to figure out what to do with multiplayer now other than arena combat. Sadly, this won't fix the problem of feature bloat and design by checklist. But hopefully it won't make it worse.
  9. That one was really good, too.
  10. I would recommend the Wadjet Eye games like the Blackwell games, Gemini Rue, and Resonance if old school style p&c mystery adventure is what you're looking for. Gray Matter, while not Jane Jensen's best game, is a good mystery p&c too. I'm playing through the Blackwell games really enjoying them. Gemini Rue and Resonance were pretty good, too. Gray Matter I did not like.
  11. Just finished The Last of US. It's still going through the credits. It was superb and I highly recommend it to anyone interested.
  12. Has anyone seen these fan mockups of colored PS4s? http://i.imgur.com/6F2vzMV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oGgVowl.jpg This is going to be a missed opportunity if Sony doesn't pay attention.
  13. Oh, I see. I thought "remove" as opposed to "steal/borrow."
  14. Is this something actually happening? Either way I think I need more context.
  15. I'm sad that SRIV is requiring DX 11, despite III working fine with XP. Guess I'll be buying it on a console.
  16. It's fake. He does run FAKKU, but that twitter post never happened.
  17. I don't think they'd appreciate you sacrificing children or posting nude pictures on their forum, either.
  18. It stands to reason that the people most adversely affected by microtransactions are those who lack impulse control and buy into them. Followed by those who have the ideological opposition to microtrans. But "stands to reason" is kind of like "sounds good on paper."
  19. That's what Jesse Schell said at DICE 2013. Skip to 10 minutes if you just want that.
  20. Full game trials are something PS+ has. However with the problem of demos reducing sales more often than improving them I'm skeptical of them keeping it. But if implemented, I disagree with limiting it based on friends and family. I'm kind of in a position where I would be okay with losing resale if publishers stopped pushing impulse buys, pre-orders, and hype, and started giving out better demos. If we're going to move into "games as a service" era, we kind of have to get into a spot where bad service means the customer doesn't pay as much, if at all. The good and the bad.
  21. An unsubstantiated leak is saying it never worked that way. It was just a 30-45 minute full game trial. A comment from cboat (a poster notorious for accurate leaks on neogaf) implies it was a 60 minute trial.
  22. I'll agree and disagree. The changes they made to party and character control were clearly concessions to improve the console experience. The changes to character creation and dialogue were about following the same philosophy that guides Mass Effect.
  23. Yup, I grabbed it on Steam just in case. It seems like Atari might be having a tiff with Beamdog. It's possible it's Hasbro. Developers confirmed it wasn't EA.
  24. It's like a bad breakup. It's an emotional base, not a rational one.
  25. In BSN? I can understand it here or in Witcher forums or RPGCodex, but Bioware's own forum isn't supposed to be Bioware fans? Who do you think would be most disappointed with Bioware's recent titles if not their fans? The ones with the greatest hope are often those hit the hardest by bitter disappointment.
