Wizard Spells by School
anathanielh replied to gkathellar's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Overpowered! It would have spells from all schools: Banana Peel (slicken) Necrotic Banana Banana Image Bounding Bananas Banana Skin Banana Shower Might be a fun and silly mod to make all spells about bananas. More fun spells: Kalakoth's Minor Bananas Concelhaut's Parasitic Banana Ghost Bananas Curse of Blackened Banana (My personal favorite because this happens in real life) Form of the Helpless Banana Banana of Many Colors I truly hope obsidian adds a 'Form of the Helpless Banana' Spell now.

How buggy is Deadfire compared to other RPGs you've played?
Oh yeah? What was KC: D like upon release? Basically this: To be fair I genuinely liked the game and I've recommended it to friends but it was a horrorshow of bugs. Small studio, first game, so forgiveable. I will admit that the bugs Deadfire had on release stung in a way that doesn't really make intuitive sense. I lost a week-long run of the game in KCD due to quest breaking bugs and just was "well, I'll come back later," but the import history bugs in Deadfire were somehow much more annoying even if they were far less consequential. I'm not sure why. Cutting edge RPG's have always had catastrophic bugs though it just goes with the territory -- Darklands was proverbial for it back in the day and has some bugs that still aren't fixed 20 years later. The real difference is that with modern RPG's and Steam there's ongoing support so you know the bugs will probably be fixed a few months down the road. Then there's Skyrim, where constant bugs and glitches were a "feature". It's a good game, but jesus were there times I wanted to just delete the game and not think about it for a few days because of glitches.

Any One-Handed High Crit Builds Worth It?
Oops i posted twice apparently?

Any One-Handed High Crit Builds Worth It?
I feel like this is a crass joke but I can't figure it out >_> Not everything I say is a joke... I think... To actually provide a build, though, I suggest using rogue/monk with scordeo’s edge (Chance at no recovery for 5 seconds is stronk). You get access to monk’s dance of death for accuracy/wounds and thunderous blows for le extra might and penetration (Swift strikes/flurry too). Rogue provides a fair amount of damage skills along with deep wounds which is super good if you’re constantly critting.

Just use your one-handed fists as a monk and you’ll be good.

Is Aloth Nigh Impossible To Please?
anathanielh replied to Stardusk78's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)what actually happened to that poll? It seems to have been deleted... I don't think Obsidian mods liked it. It's understandable, but still a shame nonetheless.

Mod Requests
anathanielh replied to peardox's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire: Modding (Spoiler Warning!)I don't know if it was already suggested, but how about a mod to add more arbalests/crossbows to the game?

The best tank in the game? Herald vs Crusader
Best tank in the game is Ranger because they have a friend. With friends, anything is possible.

1 hand style
That’s how it works in real life too. That’s why she left me. (This is joke, I am not actually depressed, I think)

Rangers concussive shot question
You can proc weapon abilities and modals, but not skills/spells with driving flight. Driving flight and the Spearcaster or another arbalest+modal= Enemy pinball

Rangers concussive shot question
If you're down to try mods, then Deadfire Tweaks made rangers much more appealing to me. (New skills and they brought back ranger stances)

Game feels more broken after latest DLC
anathanielh replied to Elizer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Every day I feel a little more broken, too. It's okay, though. I just have to accept it and move on...

Rangers concussive shot question
It's not a stun, it is an interrupt, so it will cancel moves that are being channeled and cause a slight bump in recovery. It also doesn't work with driving flight. Only the first target will be hit. This is probably to prevent the situation that you just described. Don't let that dissuade you from the move, though. Its upgrade, concussive tranquilizer, is easily one of the best moves in the game from my experience with it. The ability to cut 30 seconds off of all beneficial effects currently on the target can make some fights much easier to handle. (It works on bosses and those annoying priests that spam minor avatar)

New Community item poll results: Cloak, Mystic, Utility
anathanielh replied to Clawdius_Talonious's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)More Godlike-themed equipment, like the Heartchime Amulet, would be really cool. Though I’ve already uninstalled the game and am waiting for the next DLC (Monster Hunter calls me), so I’ll let people who are still playing decide what they want.

Fighters constant recovery stack with ring regeneration and troll belt?
The duration does increase with intelligence, but on a fighter, int isn’t particularly necessary (unless you’re multiclassing with something that makes it so). 40 seconds is typically long enough and high athletics + potions provide extra on-the-fly healing if necessary.

The morality of taking on bounties?
anathanielh replied to lmao_zedong's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Well, that /this whole conversation opens a can of worms on what's ethical and general philosophy. Like if people were dedicated, this thread could be a big as that BG2 one. If you think snuffing* out a life is wrong, including with or especially with pay involved, then yes, bounties are a huge ethical problem. You're seeking out people and creatures that are inconvenient to powerful groups and people and killing them for cash. *That said,* if you want to avoid doing that, your only option is to completely avoid multiple areas. Because people with bounties aggro immediately, whether or not you know about them. It's not 100% practical to do (though definitely doable). Edit : To more directly answer your question OP, I think you can sometimes ask what they did. That will tell you whether they are or not. But I don't think the game mechanically cares. They're there as side content to flesh out the world a bit and offer extra side coin. You bring up a good point, but I’m cold and lonely, so I say kill em.

Fighters constant recovery stack with ring regeneration and troll belt?
It does. Just remember fighter regen has a duration (40sec base iirc) and can be dispelled.
