I see. What a shame and a missed opportunity (yet again). I honestly don't know of any other games than the Mass Effect trilogy that did the consequence thing right. I remember making important there decisions actually had significant ramifications in the following games. "I agree that your choice with regards to the souls could have had a bigger impact, but perhaps that shows us how small our matters are in the eyes of the gods." That to me sounds like a convenient cop out, to be frank. Not on your part, but on Obsidian's. Oh well. Nagy kár.

Apart from which god you chose in Teir Evron in Twin Elms, what other substantial consequences of your PoE decisions can be found in Deadfire? Maybe I wasn't thorough enough, although I completed most everything. This seems to be the same problem that's in the Dragon Age series. Your choices' consequences didn't have any gravity. What I mean by that is I make a kind of big decision in the original game, and the best I get out of it is having a few short sentences from an NPC that was in the previous installment. Did I miss something..?

Not too impressed, unfortunately. The game is still missing many things they've promised us, and there's again the illusion of both choice and consequence. Granted, it's still an upgrade from PoE, but...I was expecting more for this money. Combat definitely got dumbed down, big negative for me there. Imo they generally sacrificed story elements for pretty visuals. And I do appreciate those pretty visuals, but what PoE had was good enough for me. The lore is kinda confusing and the change of voice actors is bad, although understandable. Pronunciation of words also changed. So many retcons.

I wasn't too impressed with it tbh. I was expecting some tough fights...but it turned out to be nothing but a walk-and-talk for the most part. The guardian was meh, as were all dragons. Just a cake run, was a joke lol. And you *can* influence Eothas. At least if you tell him about Rymrgand's idea, he will eventually do it.

So...yeah. After 20 hours in Deadfire, from my experience the naval battles are not only extremely tedious, but also unnecessarily way too long. Why should I bother with cannons, four on each side, when they take such a long time to fire and they miss 60% of the time anyway? Or why bother with any option other than full sail spam till I can board and it's quick fight above deck? I found myself struggling against lesser ships with my fully packed 100% upgraded galleon...so why bother at all? By far the most efficient tactic is just to spam 1. full sail and then board. Using cannons and stuff takes very long and not even effective. Plus, it's not even real time like in AC: Black Flag, so why bother either way? What are your experiences?

Idk. I'm running Shattered Pillar/Devoted and it's pretty good. I never felt like I needed the monk skills early. Having the fighter side supplement the monk class with dps and accuracy, even as early as level 1, was a big boost. At level 20 I can do 70-100 crits with fists that also prone very often and have high attack speed with it. I'm only running with Xoti right now. A priest is all I need tbh.

I'm running a Brawler (Shattered Pillar + Devoted), and with so many stride bonuses from my passives, items + Pallegina, Concelhaut lasted about 4 seconds. I can rush anywhere super fast and land 50-80 dmg crits very fast while passively knocking them prone thanks to the gauntlets bought from a Neketakan merchant that I forgot the name of. Don't even need any mobility talent, like Flagellant's Path, I'm just super fast. And if that's not enough, my MC can stand their ground easily on the frontline with a little backline support, so not even squishy.

I rolled a Brawler (Shattered Pillar + Devoted). Not much to say, it's pretty damn strong..as long as you can somehow avoid Arcane Dampener. That's nasty. I don't even need to do much in fights, just pop my instant buffs, cast the buff refresher with Xoti, and I'm a fairly tough frontline with lots of cc and dps. Seriously, the damage can be ridiculous sometimes. I was in your shoes 100%, but I decided to stick and roll with this one. Pretty fun and powerful.

Imo it should be nerfed to 20% dmg 50% focus or something. But either way, you can go ascendant as 2ndary class to any dps focused class and that gives you more dmg + you can spam freely when you reach max if your dex is high enough. Having 10% more dmg also means that's a bit more focus, too.

Woedica would've gained a lot of power and took her "rightful place" back, subduing the other gods and everybody who has ever trespassed against her will. She has very backwards, archaic rules. You can even give it to her at the end and become her new champion. I really wonder if that will have any significance in PoE 2.

What to do, where to go?
Vaneglorious replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Not sure where you're lost. Just do the side quests, they're worth it. I usually skip only a very few. The general rule is that if an encounter is impossible, just come back to it later. Simple. Leave Siege of Crägholdt for like level 11+ or so, maybe even 12, unless you're a masochist. Btw, what the heck is that in your bottom left corner? Is that a big headed character?
