  1. He's right, Bloodlines was amazing, just make sure you download the fan patch as Troika went out of business before they could fix some of the more game breaking glitches. The game costs
  2. Sorry if this is too obvious but if you liked the dialog and shooting but aren't too concerned about the stealth then you'd probably love the Mass Effect games. They are probably the most similar thing to AP in terms of how the game actually works, but they're all about fighting (which ME does better) and talking, with the occasional mini-game for hacking and lockpicking. There's no stealth what-so-ever or gadgets, although you basically get magic powers instead. I'm sure you've heard of them so I'll just say one last thing and be done. Both Mass Effect games are much more linear and cinematic experiences, Alpha Protol on the other hand had less hollywood moments but the characters and the world were much more reactive to your actions. Like a lot of other people I also think that would be a good fit for you, it's not new but it's one of the all time classics that games are still being compared to to this day. It's a compelling conspiracy story set in the near future and has multiple ways of dealing with every mission, a lot of interesting gadgets, area-specific damage (so for example if you get shot in both legs you will be crawling until you heal them) ect. It will only cost you
  3. You could rent a pair of night vision goggles and some surveillance equipment and get to know your fellow forum members better .
  4. EMP's are only around $1000 a peice. That seems like a lot but you'll almost always get more than what you paid for by unlocking a few safes and downloading intel from mission to mission. No doubt it eats away at your savings but it's doable.
  5. On the other hand it must be very useful for things like potions and quest items.
  6. Which catagory do steam users fall under?
  7. I don't know if anyone would be interested but there is a fan-made mutliplayer x-com game that lets two players fight tactical missions against each other (still in beta). You don't need the old games to run it, but if you do still have a copy of UFO:Enemy Unkown or Terror from the Deep then you can use the old sprites and maps in high res. It works perfectly well in the latest versions of windows (At least up to Vista which is what I'm using, not sure about Win7) and you don't need to mess about with patches or drivers to get it working.
  8. You can't blame them too much I guess, DLC is still a new thing and obviously it's expensive and difficult to get all the voice actors in to do lines for each one. With any luck they'll take this into account with future games and have a lot of the dialog pre-written so it can be recorded while working on the main game.
  9. I'm surprised you aren't too busy frothing at the mouth for Starcraft to be honest. Isn't the clan going to reassemble for that? I didn't play War3's vanilla multiplayer but I agree that some of the mods were spectacular. I used to love 'The Seven Blademasters' and 'Hero Arena'.
  10. I don't know if these videos would be any use to you I'm in no way knowledgeable about this but after watching several videos it's obvious that most people are lifting it onto it's side with their legs then just pushing it over. Back strap is probably very advisable if you intend to do this as I imagine there's a good chance of throwing it out (even if you'll be doing this in a group). I'm looking through the strongman competition videos on youtube hoping that one of them will have commentary with useful information, I'll post if I find anything out.
  11. Great. Just the man. What went wrong? I was 8 and not a super hero.
  12. When I little. Didn't manage it though.
  13. I've just realised that I used to post on this forum (although not much), my old account is in that thread.
  14. Sorry, I should have read through the whole thread . I'm not sure either comment was directed at you personally though.
  15. The example that always comes to mind for me is Civilization 4, built on Gamebryo. You know, that engine that Bethesda used for Oblivion? Really? Wow. And to think we all settled for a house when we should have been demanding a nation.
  16. Damn. Caught out! Hang on... EDIT: RIGHT YOU BASTARD I've just reread all the previews. The only thing I can see to contradict me is that you get to choose missions elerium vs 'animal attacks'. You may or may not be able to go to multiple locations in the time available. So basically, a slight decrement in the strength of criticism 6. Everything else stands. According to the PC GAMER UK write-up, it doesn't look to have strayed too far from the old games actually. Missions aren't entirely pre-defined, and aborting them, grabbing research materials and legging it back to the interceptor is a perfectly valid and sometimes necessary course of action. The blobs for example, you can't actually kill them until you research equipment that will electrocute or burn the things, so when you first encounter them you may think it's going to be a pushover but the thing is they will keep reassembling itself and coming after you. Apparently 2k decided not to use the old aliens because a bit part of the game was seeing all of this weird things and then working out how to combat them, so I think that's a big plus. Apparently the home base can be expanded over time as well but no details seem to have been given on how that will work yet. I don't know if there will be any political subversion to the game, there's been no mention of it as far as I know. And apparently your fellow agents will be more than generic redshirts, I think they're either a limited pool of characters with personalities or they'll level up like the squaddies in UFO, either way it's intended that you will feel their loss if anything happens to them. It probably won't be the x-com sequel we've all wanted but it sounds like it will be a good game and that 2k are trying.
  17. Edit: Nevermind, I was beaten to it.
  18. At some point I made top material armor and weapons for all of my characters, then added stat bonuses, damage resistances and multiple layers of elemental damage to all of it. It was way too much and probably an abuse of the crafting system, so that's all I meant by holding back.
  19. You're welcome . I found the crafting to be game-breaking by the end though so you might want to hold back if you enjoy a challenge.
  20. It can and has worked, just not in the movies unfortunatly.
  21. Try this; http://www.thieves-guild.net/index.php?pid=462
  22. How the hell did they manage to make two bad AvP movies anyway? It shouldn't have been difficult to make an Aliens movie and add Predators into the mix , I mean hell they must have had around a hundred passable novels and Dark Horse comics they could they have based the movies around.
  23. Looks fun, I hope it does well for you guys.
