Unable to start game while online
Jenceslav replied to seamus's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I second this observation. After deinstalling the game, clearing Google Play Store Cache (no huge allocated memory, so no stored "previous downloads") and restarting the tablet (which usually results in a loss of Pathfinder Adventures application, located on "SD card"), I tried to download and install it again. The 3-times repeated failed login to Google Play Games is still present - I cannot login and connect to the server. An added "benefit": the game no longer recognizes that I have unlocked adventures 1-6 and such (no stored data on tablet) using gold, so I can play tutorial (wheeee) and then have access to the 3 B-deck scenarios only (wheeeee ×2). Joking aside, the bug is still there. Other application can connect to G. P. Games without problems. -

In my case (older tablet), the Google Play Games login appears always 2-3 times in the Pathfinder and then the game signals that it is online (green icon in upper left corner), but is not connected to Google properly. No Store and such. At least the window will not open again and again indefinitely... ) I tried to download different games I have on my account. Nonograms Katana could not connect to G.Play due to 'Internal error, unable to sign in, error#8.' and it works perfectly on my Xperia E4 phone. Atomas connects well. -
In the tabletop version, there is the "original location deck" clause. The card was also apparently errata-ed (based on pdf with erratas), with the new power "When you encounter a monster from a location deck, you may display this card next to that deck; put the monster on top of this card. The monster is neither defeated nor undefeated; it still counts as part of the location deck except for the purpose of exploring. At the end of your turn, return the monster to the top of its location deck and bury this card." I really don't know the wording in the application (and due to Google Play-bug, I haven't run the app for some time)...

SumOfAllForms recommends Asmodee as a backup login in my understanding (I don't use that, so I really don't know). But otherwise the game could be played if you disable wifi / internet connection. However, this could cause synchronization issues, obtained boons accumulate in the Stash and no treasure cards will be added to the location decks. So pure, vanilla game (except for the Stash). Some of my friends stopped playing this game 1) to keep the tabletop version we own "fresh", and 2) because one of them played offline during holidays and once he logged back in, his progress mostly vanished Back to the issue at hand - before the bug first appeared (and it still persists, sadly), I played Pathfinder, then stopped after 1 scenario and run another game on my Android phone. After I stopped playing that game, I forgot to turn off wifi and continued with Pathfinder on tablet (max. 15 minutes later; fresh start of the application, which I always force kill after playing). Then, the Pathfinder app begun to repeat Google Play login prompts Maybe the problem initiated because I was logged in at two devices at the same time with the same login? -
Swipe can be played only on combat checks, which I was informed aren't generally all checks to defeat banes, only those titled Combat . So the Wisdom/Divine is not a combat check and Swipe should not be played for that check. Yet, the card should have been highlighted that it can be used - and when you use it, the check should transform into a combat check with the 11 difficulty (-3 for Swipe). Do you perchance have Sunburst in active party? It works similarly (-3 for check) and could be affected as well. The developers might want to improve this, but by itself it is not a bug, just a possible improvement.

The Next Backstory Adventure
Jenceslav replied to MrScott's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
As an avid collector of information, I know there are much more. 4 base sets (Rise of the Runelords, Skull & Shackles, Wrath of Righteous, Mummy's Mask) with 11 characters each = 44 characters. And then there are Paizo's class decks, including 3-4 characters per deck. There are ~ 20 class decks. Plus there may be some promo cards, maybe even with new characters. So, more than 100 characters are available. Granted, some of them refer to cards not currently available in the application (Gunslinger class and Firearms), so they could be much more limited. -

And now it seems this bug found me as well. After some playing today, I switched to browser to report some bugs and when the app was run again, it required Google play signing-in, and then again and again. Restart didn't help, starting app in offline and then enabling wifi did not establish any connection to internet with a 'please wait' prompt... TS-M803D tablet, Android 4.2.2, no updates today. Goodbye, the today's challenge and maybe the weekly challenge. -
Store - Enhancements
Jenceslav posted a question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Minor visual bug when viewing the 'enhancements' tab, specific card purchases. Only the Mountain Pattern is lit up even though I have 6900 gold and all cards except Blessing of Akaechek or whatever should be purchasable, that is: they shoul be green-lit. All can be bought, they just are not green but blue as 'you cannot buy this'. -
Sandpoint under attack (1-1), Legendary, wildcards: shuffle 1 more barrier, 5 less blessings in the blessing deck Seoni was at the Rusty Dragon location and encountered nasty Goblin Raider. It fell to her spell and Seoni closed the location. When the prompt for the location power appeared, she used it to recharge the Reveller from the discard pile. Then she used Mending that she obtained earlier, but decided not to discard anything. After pressing the 'back' X on the left, the on-closing icon appeared again and another ally was recharged from the discard pile. It should be already marked as used, but was not. Cancelling Mending reverted the state to before the Mending was activated, but it could not de-recharge the Reveller. )

Programming bugs
Jenceslav replied to retupmoc258's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Hello, I have the same issue with logging-on using Google play (Android). The game says I am connected, logged in, but store, challenges and collection all behave like I am not logged in. I.e. store and challenges window are inaccessible, collection shows only the non-treasure cards. However, when I force the application closed and run it again, it connects with no problems and everything works fine. Other issues you reported are connected to this - you may not banish cardss from Stash for gold unless you are online (a very bad thing for gameplay rules-wise, but ir should no longer cause your machine to run out of memory, I hope). Regarding the completion issues, send your PFID to the developers on this forum or through support and they will be able to fix this. But you have to be successfully connected before to synchronize everything, just to be sure. And note that by connecting through different account, your PFID may in rare cases change and you can have 'two accounts' with different IDs. -
After some time of sitting on the bench, Ezren joined his friends on a legendary adventure in Attack on Sandpoint. Some of his powers are still miraculous: When recharging a spell (Recharge power +3, Inteligence +4), the Spell collector bonus (+4) still applies, making the base bonus 2 (Arcane) + 4 + 3 + 4 = +13 instead of the +9. Force specialization power (+2 to checks with Force traits) works well unless you cancel the spell played (Sign of Wrath, Force Bolt tested). Then, the check reverts to original state, but the +2 modifier remains. I don't know if it is a remaining Force trait (card error) or if it is a bug in Force specialization power itself. Fortunately, the bonus does not increase by casting and cancelling repeatedly. Other Specialization feats deserve looking into as well (my Ezren doesn't have them).
-
Maybe the game is programmed to solve this ability so that the game thinks that Merisiel is obtaining it anew? I observed the same with Ezren's Spell collector ability a long time ago (but not in a galaxy far far away). When Ezren with such power tried to recharge spells, the bonus from spell collector applied, increasing the check bonus by 2 or 4. I don't know if it has been fixed since. Edit: Does it work on Wand of Enervation, too? If so, it might be a possible cause for duplicating wands. If the game thinks the owner is obtaining the card anew and in some very rare program branch it does not delete the second wand... Who knows?

And correct you are, apparently. I did not notice the 'shuffle after search' sentence in the rulebook. My point was the omission of the word choose (choose a boon), which seemed strange. But one of your links pointed to a new wording by Paizo, which is essentially the same as in application. So, the Dominate works as per older wording (with exception of not allowing any boon to be drawn) and has a new wording. Thank you very much for enlightening me in that regard.
-
I have compared the text for tabletop and computer version of Dominate and they are somewhat different. Tabletop card specifically says you choose a boon, searching through the whole deck. Maybe this different behaviour in computer version is to combat farming? Holy Candle was changed to Banish, after all. Per rules, it should reveal the whole deck. However, the rest of the card works as intended (based on tabletop text). First, you search the deck, take the boon you like, but do not shuffle. Then, the evasion occurs and you shuffle the monster back. Ezren's mind trick should replace the evasion as a whole with putting the monster on bottom, I think. So, draw a boon, put the monster on bottom, do not shuffle anything. If that is not the observed behaviour, it is a bug.

Well, Barl was never a problem for me. Check 17 was generally fine for Seoni or Ezren (especially when he is a Villain - boss) and when I use the Amulet (Kyra has it, I think), it is generally to obtain armors. Ad Crown - I used to think that it could not be used to defeat Iesha (looking for Aldern). So I never even bothered to have it ready for Iesha as the +1 die Diplomacy is of very limited use for anyone except Valeros and Seoni in this case. Now, I might try it
-
Huh, it seems that I incorrectly assumed that any check to defeat a monster is combat check by definition. But you are right - I have found an appropriate rules discussion regarding this. http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1109466/siren-and-non-combat-checks-monsters So the lamia sisters are working correctly, huh. Any check to defeat a monster that does not have 'Combat' as a header is a non-combat check. Thank you very much for pointing that out. As a result, the Crown of Charisma and Sepia Ellipsoid rise in importance to me. The Crown is thus a reliable way to not only survive, but also to defeat Iesha Foxglove (if you are not Kyra / Seelah with specific power feat). Interesting. I do not think that Fire Bolt was returned to Lem's hand and the check changed to Divine (base die was still 1d10). I will check that again later, but for now it is 'solved' - not a bug probably.
-
While playing scenario 4-4 Under Jorgenfist on Normal (Lieutenant Lem, Seelah, Forest Harsk, Sajan), the Divine checks to defeat both Villains were probably not flagged as combat checks. Or maybe there is problem with Lt. (JG) Lem. The situation was as follows: All locations except Warrens closed (Forest Harsk was holding position there), our heroic lieutenant all alone on Desecrated Vault (2 cards remaining, the top was Zaelsar revealed by Harsk earlier). Lem encountered Zaelsar (Harsk closed his location with help of epic +1 dexterity armor) and could play the Djezet Skin (+2 to non-combat charisma check) into the Divine Check, which should be combat check, right? However, Lem used Fire Bolt (or Force Bolt) and some outside help to defeat her. That help included Seelah's Blessing of Iomedae, which somehow added 2 dice instead of one. And this check definitely was combat check (or should be) - and of course, Lem being Lem, the check was Arcane-Charisma-based, so the B. of Iomedae recognized the ability correctly, only its non-combat trait was not there. Additional minor bug: failing the check to recharge Orb of Storms (Forest Harsk with Divine skill) or Orb of Magic (Seelah) placed the corresponding card into the discard pile instead of burying it. It may be character-related or it might be incorrectly programmed to be discarded instead (and this could apply to other Orbs as well).

It seems like a bug. Any card obtained through treasure chest should add to your Collection. Might be some connection issue or something. Keep the dogslicer in the Stash, check your Collection again after restart of the app (make sure other cards have numbers - when not connected to the server, the treasure items should all be ?). If the issue still persists, write to obsidian support and add your PFID (hexadecimal code in Settings) or maybe just your User number.

Problem using Archer Ally
Jenceslav replied to MrScott's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Some reading of the tabletop rules: it seems that the ranged trait should count for Archer... http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2r9dh?Ranged-vs-Dexterity-Combat-Checks http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1056695/playing-cards-affect-check -
Problem using Archer Ally
Jenceslav replied to MrScott's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I would disagree that this works as intended. Bullwinkle may be right what happens - in one sense. Could you check if the type of combat check changes? (I.e. the drop-down menu beside the difficulty) At start, it is Combat (strength) 1d8, then you play a ranged weapon, changing to Combat (Dexterity) 1d12 + die_from_weapon + Dex.bonus. Then try to play Archer. If I suspect right, the type of check would be incorrectly changed, e.g. into Melee/Ranged (which Merisiel does not have, thus 1d4). But you may still change the type of check manually through the drop-down menu, selecting Combat (Dexterity). Well, you may object that the Ranged combat mentioned in the Archer Ally is referring to Ranged skill check. But the ranged weapons have the Ranged trait, which should transfer to the whole check. So the Combat Dexterity check has the 'ranged trait', but is not the Ranged skill check. Must check Paizo's forums Edit: Correcting factual error. -
While I am being a little bit sad about the price changes (not for me as I have everything I want :-D, but for new players), I would never had the temerity to belittle the hard work of others (as you often do), especially when the end product is so good. Yes, there are many bugs, we all agree on that. Developers are working on finding and correcting the bugs we discover. If you had some experience with programming, you would understand that the requirements of such complex interactions, with no less than 5-6 different keywords or triggers and interplay of N different sub-programs, are extreme. We, as humans with somewhat creative mind and non-linear thinking, can mostly interpret interactions of specific cards correctly. But in computer, you have to think of every interaction between each possible pair (or even more) of cards/powers/checks and (which is the most daunting task) to force the 'stupid' computer program to behave in correct way in every single one of them. I don't know the Unity or what-its-name system, but even in the most simple languages, any such programming is time-consuming. And when you forget one command in the 100000-line program, its function in one specific instance (discovered by 1 in e.g. 10000 players after 10 hours of playing - conservative estimate) is 'bugged'. Yes, that gives you the right and high moral ground to crticize the programmer in question. </sarcasm> Every one of us is human (sorry for our alien, animal or mythological friends) and we do mistakes. A constructive remark: if the developers included some logging of the gameplay (and even that is a hard task as you should add PrintToLog('Something happened') into each and every one of the cards and powers, the bug-hunting would be much easier. But it would also prevent them from adding new content.

Scouting cards bugged
Jenceslav replied to nomadicc's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I played only ~four games since the ValerosUpdate, mostly on 1-1 (Legendary), two at 4-2 and 4-3 (Normal) and Revelation Quill functioned normally for me. Spyglass worked OK. Maybe it is related to adventure or scenario? I don't know, sorry. Didn't test Augury or Scrying, but noticed that someone encountered something similar with Scrying... Strange indeed - especially bad because Augury and Scrying are almost required spells for some scenarios . -
Patch 1.2.8 A Fighter's Tale!
Jenceslav replied to Aarik D's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: Announcements & News
As a fan of the card game, I already collected enough gold to buy everything possible (characters & non-goblin alternates and adventures). However, if the current pricing policy were implemented at the time I downloaded the game, I would probably play a few games, run into the RealMoneyNeeded situation and then regretfully quit and uninstalled. 3 scenarios + Tutorial are almost not enough to even learn to play the game. I understand and respect the publisher's financial policy, but the need to pay for everything is probably the worst choice with regard to new(ish) players. The original scheme with two adventures 'on discount' was perfect - it was not hard to earn gold to unlock them. And when one played through these very diverse and interesting scenarios, he/she/it realized this is a very good game and considered playing more, most probably even paying RealMoney. This game was very refreshing among the Pay2Win games in enabling the player to earn most things by their own accomplishment. This new pricing transforms this game into a Pay2Play application. The optimum solution would be to have ~ 2 adventures available for purchase through gold in addition to RealMoney. That would entice the new players and hook them, guiding them to buy the rest of the game. Consider e.g. Frozen Puzzle Quest model - you can play through a lot of sometimes-hard levels to unlock something (Frozen Fever levels) or you can pay outright to play it right away. -
Can't find the shop?!
Jenceslav replied to CrimsonBlazer's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
The shop icon is hard to overlook (it is a veeeery big treasure chest on the left). However, to show this chest, you must be logged in through your favoured gaming network. Well, in Android app it is Google Play Games or some similar name (I have Czech names ) and in iOS it is called Game center, I think. In order to be able to use the shop (and possibly encounter some special treasure boons during play (and earn some gold useable in the shop itself)), you must be logged in. The state of your game is then synchronized with the server. It could be other problem, but I seriously doubt it.
