There are many ways how to play each character and no style is 'the best'. Kyra with full deck of B. of Sarenrae (and possibly one to two Favor of Sarenrae) can have e.g. one good weapon and many blessings in the hand, allowing her to play formidable support. So, Valeros needs a blessing? Here you are, I will gladly put it on the top of my deck to draw it again at the end of next turn. Or imagine the exploration boost (assuming Kyra is able to survive the banes encountered). Two more explores (repeatably, indefinitely) each turn? Throw an Augury or two during this and the location will be (I imagine) cleared very fast. I prefer to loas Seoni with maximum amount of high-recharge-check high-damage spells (Wrath of Force, Disintegrate, ...) and use her auto-recharge. Once the spells are on the bottom, you can always use her InstaFireball. Interestingly, if you have Improved Mending and lots of items with Seoni, it could almost be considered a heal spell (recharging automatically).
-
Usually, it is an extremely convenient upgrade from my opinion. As EthicsGradient said, it enables you to draw the same cards quickly. Imagine Seoni with very few spells (3) - if she were able to shuffle them instead of recharging, she would be much more deadly than she already is. As it is, each of her spells ends (after automatic recharge) at the bottom of her deck (= health) and unless she is almost dead or capable of recharging all other cards, she will not draw such spells. Similar with Valeros (weapons) or "shuffle blessings" - an even stronger ability is to put the used card on the top of your deck. Sadly, I have chosen other powers for my Exorcist Kyra instead of her "put blessing of Sarenrae on the top". Additionally, there seems/seemed to be very rare instances when the game maybe shuffled instead of recharging some cards, but this is very hard to identify and it might be already corrected for the guilty cards/powers. Who knows? But that 'bug' is usually beneficial to you - unless you recharged that rusty Shortsword you never ever wanted to use...

Serious oversight

There is almost nothing true in this post. One would not expect the AI to take care of everything. If the AI took care of everything, who would play the game? ... Regardless, Obsidian is not going to add a STOP--COMBAT IS COMING NOW box, because that would annoy the 99% of players who don't want their game slowed down any more than it already is. So perhaps it is time to move on to another useless complaint? Precisely. AI should do everything? No way. This is a game intended for you to think about and combine, not to 'roll and feel good'. Multiple rolls can be boring, but they are at most 5s each (well, if you do not intend NOT to lose any of them). Half a minute is around the maximum for 6 heroes. And the possible sign 'Combat incoming!' would truly be more irritating than the state that the game is in now. Maaaaaybe some flashing icon or vividly coloured card / check-to-defeat box on the card would be tolerable, but other things would slow gameplay even more. And that is totally against your complaint that rolls are taking too much time... Quite a contrary point of view, I think.

Scarlet Walker / Lang Fender
Jenceslav replied to Vinceicarus's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Vinceicarus, when someone fights a monster, other heroes cannot play most Attack spells, so this is as-intended. The main exception is Swipe (helping spell -3 difficulty) and Sunburst (the same). I do not have Gozreh's trident, so I cannot attest to that -
I would disagree that the 1-card-of-one-type rule is responsible. First, the damage is done before the combat check, so it is a different time. Other thing would be if you tried to prevent damage from failing combat check. Then the rule would kick in. Secondly, the ring has a clause of "you may use another item on this check"... Seems like a proper bug.

Maybe it was summarized elsewhere much better, but I will try to clarify things to you if I am able . First off, some definitions to understand each other. You play the application, in which you start a new game. This new game (party, instance of an adventure path) can contain 1-6 heroes. You may exchange any number of characters in the party / game / instance. Whenever you finish a scenario (e.g. Brigandoom), you will achieve: 'app completion' for that difficulty (to signify that you already completed the scenario at least once) - once gained, you will never ever ever gain gold coins for the completion of that scenario at that difficulty unless it is Legendary. This is account specific. So one play on Normal and any subsequent replays on Normal, even with another party (game), will yield you 0 gold. 'game completion' for that difficulty - that is to say that your heroes in this instance of adventure path finished this scenario. This is also to check if you can play higher difficulties in this game (instance). And also to unlock the scenario right above the current one. 'hero completion' for each hero in that party that is still alive at its end - thus each hero gains an OK mark in its completion tab and receives Scenario rewards such as some boons, powers, skills, card feats. No hero completion reward can be gained more than once by any character. This is fully according to RPG flavour and tabletop rules. All these completions behave independently, so you can finish a scenario with one dead character and continue playing. Once any of your heroes has a full hero completion in an adventure, he/she/it (for goblins) gains Adventure reward. If it also was Game completion of the Legendary difficulty and you have completed all scenarios in that adventure on Legendary, you will obtain Card Reward for that adventure (Samisen for adventure B). This card will be 'unlocked' and become a part of your Collection to be encountered later. Now, the question about Loot is complex. Loot is a special type of boon that cannot be encountered during the play, but is awarded as Scenario reward. However, I do not know if the game checks Scenario completion (less probable) or Hero completion for all/most characters in your party (much more probable). There was some talk about the possibility of 'gaming' the application to obtain e.g. Sihedron amulets for all characters and multiple times. It might be that all your characters must be 'new' (no Hero completion of this scenario) or even one of them. I really don't know, sorry. If you want to be absolutely, completely and undisputedly sure that you can obtain loot, you might delete the current party (after e.g. removing any characters from it to avoid any possible bugs) and start a completely new game / instance. You may have more than one game / instance at the same time, but they must not share characters. So I retain one game with full Legendary game completion in all adventures and have a second one to 'level up' another group of characters.
-
Thank you for the clarification - I asked because I do not remember everything from the game without consulting the app or tabletop cards. And second because I often write a slightly different word than I intended and thus wanted to be sure. As you specified Loot cards (and after consultation of the app), I suppose you are talking about Loot cards as a scenario reward for 2-5 Angel in the Tower, right? And playing at Normal difficulty, right? To be absolutely sure that you obtain the loot from scenario rewards, you might have to start a new game and add brand-new characters. That is why I asked about the brand-new game and brand-new characters. If you have already finished the game with another party and playing again, you may not gain the loot cards. Even if you think you provided every information, it is better to write them again for the 'slow-witted' people such as me that want to help you. BTW: I'm a scientist. EDIT: See http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/93782-trying-to-reset-the-adventure-completion-without-resetting-the-whole-thing/ This may help you to speak in a language / definitions that I might be able to understand you.
-
There are many things that work in this app. There are more than a few strange bugs, but many many more things that work perfectly. In order to improve the application, it is necessary to provide all the data needed to fix the bug. Please refer to: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/86274-reporting-issues-useful-information-to-provide/ So, was the group/game brand-new or a replay with new characters? Which loot cards didn't you get? Scenario rewards, adventure rewards, anything other? If you provide no details, it cannot be identified and corrected and then becomes just an 'angry cry into the dark'.
-
I am afraid you are stuck with adventure completion for the rewards (only Legendary scenarios will give you gold from now on). But if you talk just about character completion - you may start a new adventure with completely new party, even on Normal, and the characters will get their scenario & adventure completion rewards as usuall. That way you may rebuild any character (by playing 3+6*5 = 33 scenarios) to your liking.

Strange - Warden of Thunder deals electricity damage before the encounter. If, however, you used an item during the Dex./Acrob. check, you might not be able to use another item (potion) to eliminate the damage as Ethics Gradient said. I often curse myself for using Snakeskin Tunic (+1 Dex.) against a monster when I need any armor to save my hide (pun intended) after I fail the check.

Scarlet Walker / Lang Fender
Jenceslav replied to Vinceicarus's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Did you mean that you encountered Scarlet Walker and some other character could not play Toxic Cloud on its check? That is as it should be - read the Scarlet Walker and it says "Immune to Poison". Toxic Cloud adds Poison trait, so it may not be used on this monster (and all undead). Likewise, if you encounter the Leng Spider and the 1d6 rolls a low number, you may not play Attack spells. That includes even Web, Toxic Cloud and other supporting non-Aid spells. -
Are the Dice Rigged?
Jenceslav replied to LaSpeakeasi's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
The dice that you roll for checks seem to be approximately random, only a very large set of observed rolls can prove or disprove it. However, some automatic rolls are very often extremely suspect. Once upon a time, in several of my Legendary plays (in Thistletop), the goblin monster difficulty increase was always rolled 5-8 on 2d4. Similarly, there was a later scenario where every automatic throw of 2d4 (don't know what for, either damage or difficulty increase) was almost always 7 or 8 during my play. Both these things are in Legendary difficulty, so a slightly harder experience is expected. On the card-drawing barriers (Large chest and such), 1 comes surprisingly often, but that is also OK if it is a way to limit farming. And lastly, my Seoni very often gets 3 on 1d4 when rolling for Wand of Enervation's 1d4+4 difficulty reduction. Everything may be just my perception of course, not based in reality, but in my skewed opinion -
The "end your turn when you acquire a blessing (or ally)" is a very common wildcard when playing on Heroic or Legendary. Normally, this does never happen, but the random BadScenarioEffectsThatRuinYourDay may change the behaviour of the game radically. If you play on Normal, you should not observe such behaviour. When you start the scenario and Villain with Henchmen (or Henchwomen or even Henchthings, heheh) cards are shown to you, the active wildcards are at the top of the screen. Sometimes, scenario power does similar (or the same) thing. I almost never use Toxic Cloud, 1d6 is aquite small bonus and many enemies are immune to poison (Undead mainly), but that you cannot use it is very strange. Does it have the "lock" icon? Maybe it is because the monster is immune to poison? Blessings and other cards should not interact unless you are in that ugly Thassilonian location that allows you to play only one card of ANY type when you are there. That is the only explanation that does not involve bugs.

Forced to Banish Cards
Jenceslav replied to LaSpeakeasi's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Funny you should say that. Because these posts are the only posts that are even being made around here other than the endless bug complaints. The forum is pretty much a ghost town otherwise. Don't pretend you have anything better to waste your time on. Well, the bug reports (not really complaints unless it's a game-breaking thing) have the redeeming quality of helping to SOLVE something. In some of your posts, you state your opinions on this game that may be slightly biased (that is OK, everyone has bias), but then demand change of the rules of the game itself. That is not in Obsidian's or developers' hands. That is governed by Paizo (original RPG card game) and they won't change rules just because it is convenient to someone. So, in effect, such posts won't achieve anything - and that is what I think Bullwinkle meant. Just imagine how long it took me to write these sentences -
Daily Challenge Burying
Jenceslav replied to deny_conformity's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Yes but spells played from the emerald codex are supposedly banished after being used regardless if you have divine skill or not. Invoke is buried instead of being discarded after use and that's why it isn't banished. It's obviously a bug. OK, maybe I did not understand correctly what you were saying - I thought about these cards as separate entities. Do you rather mean that you used Emerald Codex (bury +1), one of the three spells drawn was Invoke, then you used this Invoke (bury +1 ??), and the Invoke card ended in your bury pile? If that is so, it is a bug all right -
Daily Challenge Burying
Jenceslav replied to deny_conformity's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Both Invoke and Emerald Codex have Bury as their primary keyword, not banish - and they properly count toward the challenge. They return back into your deck when the scenario ends. However, if you used Invoke without Divine skill, it would be banished as other spells. I never even conteplated to test it, as I only have one (on Kyra). Wand of Enervation (on Seoni with auto-recharge for Arcane items) does not count toward the objective even if you choose Bury instead of Recharge once the check is resolved. Similarly, Orbs of <something> that can be buried instead of a check to discard/recharge, do not count even if you choose not to do the check and let them go directly into bury deck. So it seems the game checks only the primary Bury actions that we are not able to revert through a check to a 'better' keyword. Similar situation is with the 'help other characters with a blessings' and Kyra's power to recharge Sarenrae - whatever you choose (Discard, Recharge...), the blessing does not count toward that objective. -
Blessing of Thassalonian Virtues
Jenceslav replied to Tempted's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
You beat me to testing it! I just transferred Lini with this blessing to my main party, tried it and voilà, it worked. So my completely unsubstantiated hunch based on random idea proved to be right. But your graphic tutorial how to make B. of Thass. Sins work is much better than anything I would have done... I will greet ナウシカ in your name, but she usually hears only Kreeeeee when I speak to her, so do not be sad if she does not write you back . -
Blessing of Thassalonian Virtues
Jenceslav replied to Tempted's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, I have never used that blessing (it is in my secondary group that I do not use much, while my primary and tertiary groups did not encounter it) but I have an idea - there was a post regarding Favor of the Gods not working as intended (the "favor" part enabling the use of another blessing). http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91047-favor-of-gods-didnt-let-me-add-a-second-blessing/ Could this be similar? There is the clause that B. of Thass. Sins can copy the top card of the blessings discard deck. So maybe it considers itself as a B. of Sarenrae in your picture and the other options including Bury power are thus disabled similarly to the "favor" power... If that is so, disabling the copying function through blessings discard could "magically" solve the problem. Even then, it is extremely counter-intuitive and should be somehow corrected. -
Trust those of us who HAVE played the card game when we say it is not a collectible card game (CCG) as itself. Or you can look at the BGG identificators and compare Magic with Pathfinder card game. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/133038/pathfinder-adventure-card-game-rise-runelords-base https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/463/magic-gathering If the tabletop game is advertised as CCG, then that advertising is completely incorrect. The idea is completely different from CCG. Of course you can build your characters with whatever cards you own and thus, by buying additional adventure paths or class decks (or promos) you can enable a sort-of-CCG. But it is against the rules and intents of the game. Imagine you would start e.g. Skyrim with overpowered enchanted armor, weapons and items - at level 1. Or starting Fallout 3 with Mini-Nuke launcher. Even the class decks have very sophisticated rules regarding what can be in your deck at current "level".

Stuck on discard screen
Jenceslav replied to killerKoala's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Hello, I am afraid your problem is that you ran into a long-known but still not corrected bug. If you use any action of card (Cape of Movement, Haste, Stride) to move a character to the Temple location (forcing you to discard card/s when moving there), the game will become stuck. I usually do not use such spells to move characters, so I never observed it myself. If you can forfeit the scenario (Click on the cog/wheel on the bottom left and choose forfeit - i.e. give up the scenario with the possibility to try it again from the beginning), do so. If you cannot forfeit, contact the game support and tell them this problem + your PFID number (long hexadecimal number found in the settings of the game) - your id is not enough, unfortunately. -
Amiri
Jenceslav replied to PinkRose's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: Characters Builds & Strategies (Spoiler Warning!)
The great thing on this game (card/computer) version is its versatility. You can choose whatever you like and thus have a different playstyle (or the need to think of a new playstyle). Amiri's second move fast power may be great but I never needed to use it - different playstyle. The blessing power (Lord in Iron) is awesome if you have the blessings in her deck or her group. Any power of such type (unless it improves only your check) is great - Lem encountered Siren: 1d4 for wisdom? Huh. Fortunately, Amiri adds 1d12 instead of 1d4. Yay! Seoni does the same with B. of Pharasma and Lem will not be tempted by the Siren wiles (musical, of course). I went with Weapon collecting powers (+4) as the high-end weapons are rather difficult to obtain. But Berserk may be the best choice. 6 cards is very good for Amiri as some wildcards in later adventures say "your hand size is 2 cards less". And 3 cards are much too few for Amiri. Automatic decrease of damage is not as good, because you have many armors and may have ring of protection or better (Sihedron). -
Hello, some of your ideas are worth considering, but some of them are probably no-go 1) Banish => Destroy change is probably impossible, as the keyword is directly from the card game, so Obsidian may not even have rights to change the core keywords. Maybe it would be great if the Banish buttons were coloured slightly differently, e.g. reddish. But changing name? No way, sorry. 2) Yes, the animation is a bit slow, but I think it is slow because you may be hoping that there is no Villain in that location you just closed. And if it is cleared right away, you may click fast and not notice that there is a Villain. And because it will not mark the deck as examined, you do not have the option to look at that card again. Maybe there could be a new option in settings to enable "fast-shuffle, fast-closing". 3) I often curse a little in such situations (such as Merisiel forgetting to use her SuperBeltOfAlmostUniversalBonuses+2 - Belt of Physical Might), but it is my fault. There ARE some occasions at which I do not want to succeed (Vault of Greed, wildcard: Ally/Blessing > End turn), so auto-revealing is not a good idea. It would create many more bugs to "de-reveal" cards that you do not want to use... It may get a lot repetitive with Lini 4) I had to open the game to check if it is different from the card game, where her power is "At the start of your turn, you may banish an ally to draw 3 cards." (Abyssal Sorcerer) which is very self-explaining. But the wording is the same in computer version. You banish one ally and draw 3 cards - from your deck, obviously. 5) That truly could be improved. Never tried it, but I think the runes should be reinforcing themselves in the time dimension (rune +X for 4 hours used 3 times => 12 hours in duration). 6) Chests become somewhat redundant once you get all cards (I still don't have some uncommon cards ), but unless you have bought Steam version and already have all of them, every chest may supply you with new cards. It also increases the numbers in your Collection, meaning increasing the chances to encounter the cards in play (up to a limit). The Unclaimed section is somewhat counter to the idea of the chest improving your collection. I may not like the feature much as it seems like you are "buying" cards for your heroes and increases the incentive to be "lazy", but I understand and respect this feature. However, 6-th deck weapon in the hands of B-deck hero is brutal. And if you look at chests as buying cards outright, then it may seem to be completely redundant to you. But remember, they also get options for your following play, not a bonus outright and nothing more...

Hello, I don't have an iPad and never worked with one, but your purchased things, saves and characters are stored on a server and not on your device. The problem is probably that your game cannot connect and synchronize with the server. Try opening Game Central or whatever it is called (Google Games on Android) and connect through your gaming account. If that does not help, try restarting your iPad, connect to your gaming account and run Pathfinder. If even that does not help, maybe somebody with iPad will offer a solution This is the best I can do...

I do not dispute otherwise, it's a bug. I have never encountered him with two characters at that location (as I usually have characters operating solo to cover more ground). If you could provide details, it would be best. According to its current (bugged) description, each character should encounter him (instead of each other character) and the current player should encounter the non-summoned version (lack of Summoned label above the card). If it works otherwise (and please add precise specifics to help in reproducing it), it's a bugged bug
