For both Doom 3 and Quake 4 you can alter an ini setting so your character casts a shadow. Being that you have no body, however, it doesn't quite look right when you can see that your shadow isn't attached to anything. As for my performance in FEAR, I play it with a 6800 GT, 1.5 GB of RAM, and my crusty old AMD 2000, and it runs great at 1024x768 with no AA (aa turns off the pretty soft shadow effect) and all the other settings maxed out.

For the hardcore Fallout fan/Troika fanboy, yes. A crappy Bethesda Fallout 3 would be accused of destroying Fallout and, while the flaws in a crappy Troika Fallout 3 would be overlooked.

I currently have a PC, PS2 and GC, and will likely get a PS3. Why? Because the PS3 has games I want to play, which is the same reason I have the other two consoles. I use the PC for more than just games, so I'll continue to be a PC user even if I stop being a PC gamer (not gonna happen). I have these systems because they meet both my needs (PC - work) and wants (PC + Consoles - games). The needs and wants of anyone else are completely irrelevant to me. And that's all it comes down to, an individuals needs and wants. If all someone wants to do is play games and all the games they want to play are on console, it's stupid to claim that they would be better off with a PC because "PCs can do so much more!!" if they aren't interested in any of those things. It's like telling someone who only wants to watch DVDs and has no interest in gaming to buy a console because "OMG consoles can play DVDs AND games!!" Would someone like ShadowPaladin, who seems to play every system, be better off getting rid of all the console systems because Kaftan says "everyone with half a brain prefer a PC"? Of course he bloody well wouldn't, as the only thing he'd be doing is limiting the games he could play. This attitude of "you are wrong/inferior/stupid if your needs and wants do match mine" is so damn juvenile.

I think one of their main devs was quoted saying that they don't make Fallout style games because that's "not what they do" " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I remember correctly, it was Pete Hines, the PR guy, said something about "we aren't going to suddenly do iso" or some such. "We probably won't make an isometric game" is a loooooooooong way from "We don't make Fallout style games".

Clearly this means the next Obsidian game will be a Wemic Dating Simulator.

I found the same thing. A couple times I was hit with no damage. I was still going without anything in the armour bar, but I didn't survive the next hit.

Those things don't matter much if the gameplay doesn't interest you.

I played the demo of Psychonauts, and although I enjoyed the characters and all, the mission in that guys warzone filled head didn't interest me much, pretty standard platform stuff.

I enjoyed them both. The basic idea may be the same, but they are very different films. Anyway, the last film I saw was Wolf Creek. Anybody planning to backpack around Australia should watch it first.

I have no interest in any sports, which is terribly un-Australian of me. I could whine about how sport is like sooooo overrated, but I'd much prefer to let my fellow Aussies enjoy the things they are interested in rather than claiming their interests are inferior to mine.

Heh, the regenerating bar is the reload time. The tank armour doesn't regen. Edit: I had to go and check, the big red bar is, as is stated in big letters when the mission starts, the tank armour. Next to that is a bullet icon, which shows reload time. Underneath both of these is the green player health bar, which isn't at all used during the tanks missions, so I've no idea what SP is one about with this regenerating bar business. As for the constant flow of men in CoD2, it's needed for the illusion of being just one man amongst many. If their is a set limit of men, you'll eventually run out and the game will turn into the one man army stuff typically found in FPS - illusion destroyed.

What are people referring to when they complain about Japanese games being "anime"? I mean it's like complaining that western games are too Hollywood. Take the Metal Gear Solid games (not RPGs). The only think about these games that has ever been described as "anime" is the strange assortment of boss characters. So if the only problem you have with "anime" games is cartoon characters with big eyes, you wouldn't have a problem with this game, but if you dislike Japanese oddity, then you'd probably be annoyed with parts of the game. Japanese RPGs and Western RPGs really are to very different beasts (and I'm ignoring the variations within them, afterall, ToEE is a totally different game to Bloodlines), but just because you like RPGs doesn't mean you'll like both. Ultimately I think if a particular type of game isn't your think, you shouldn't feel the need to keep trying them. So for Dhurin, I wouldn't recommend any JRPGs, as they simply don't seem to be your thing.

I'm using the latest patch, and the only problem I know that it adds is if you go to the character screen twice in a row it freezes my game.
