  1. Fox news? Pfft, I wouldn't trust a test that they did unless it was doubly verified by other sources. I know Google uses the algorithm, but seriously, do you expect Fox news to be unbiased?
  2. Fake News. https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/08/27/donald-trump-honors-john-mccain-prays-for-shooting-victims-with-evangelical-leaders/ Not at first anyway as he had to be pressured into doing so. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/27/politics/donald-trump-john-mccain-questions/index.html
  3. The governor appoints his replacement who will serve until the special election in 2020, if they win that, they'll serve the rest of McCain's term to 2022. Gov. Ducey has said that he isn't announcing the replacement until after the funeral and burial on Sept. 2nd.
  4. It's not stated that he has mental health issues, just 'significant medical problems'. Also, since Florida is a concealed carry state, one wonders whether any of the other participants had guns or if guns were even allowed in the building in the first place. If guns were allowed and others (besides the security officers you might expect) had guns, clearly the possibility of others having guns didn't have any deterrent, as the NRA likes to think the M.A.D. doctrine applies to guns.
  5. So it seriously was a ragequit? Geeze....
  6. Not sure a new thread is neccesary, but okay, Haven't heard anything yet about why it happened either, though my theory is a nuclear ragequit.
  7. Don't know where else to post this. Theres been a mass shooting at a Jacksonville Madden football gaming tournament, not many details atm, https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/madden-19-jacksonville-shooting/index.html?adkey=bn Talk about ragequitting.....
  8. Not quite celebrity per se, but definetly worth mentioning, Sen. John McCain has passed away... http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/365351-mccain-war-hero-and-senate-giant-dies
  9. Sen. John McCain just passed away...
  10. I don't expect the next Dem candidate to be quite that far out, but yes, limiting their power is a major (which somehow seems like an understatement) step to reform things. There had been proposals to remove the superdelegates entirely, but the proposal they went with seems like a nice middle ground.
  11. It's a complex thing, I don't know the details or the legal specifics, and it's more intent outside of normal and expected campaign expenditures.
  12. And then theres that Weisselberg guy, who is said to know 'where all the financial bodies (as in secrets) are buried', which is a VERY big deal.
  13. I looked around and while I couldn't find actual popularity numbers, he seems to have been a pretty average Governor during his tenure in N<, not awesome, but not terrible either. One source mentioned him as being nicknamed 'Governor No' due to vetoing a lot of stuff. I don't know the specific context of that (like what he veto'd and the makeup of the state legislature at the time), so, I can't really make any inferences from it. For someone who appears to have been an average (or good by some accounts), he's picking up a good chunk of the votes. Other dynamics in the NM Governor race could explain that though. edit: Breaking news while typing up this post, Sen. John McCain is discontinuing his treatment for cancer, http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/403445-mccain-ending-brain-cancer-treatment How long he has left, nobody is saying yet.
  14. Hopefully they're taking sea level rise into account for those floating structures. It'd eventually be a problem for the bridges, but I guess they'll, um, cross that bridge, when it becomes a problem.
  15. That assumes Sharpe and the LP want to change it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LP fully supports protection of property codified into law as well as the "standard laws" against murder, rape, etc. Who do you think will enforce that and what do you think they will do to those violating the law? That was my thinking with the comment earlier, I get the beef that Libertarians have against government overenforcement, but as KaineParker says, if you remove the enforcement of the law, then who is going to enforce the law? It's a real chicken and egg problem because unless you want to abide by the honor system, you need someone to enforce the law, whether it's a village elder, tribal chieftian, shaman, what-have-you, and deputies that the community trusts. As for changing the system, if it were me, I'd start with the Democrats and Republicans who want to change the system and allow for third parties to flourish better, to open the door for what you say. I'd probably start by allowing the major third parties into the debates with the two main parties.
  16. I thought Libertarians generally weren't anti-police (as an institution of enforcing law anyway)?
  17. lol, it looks like Trump's own hubris, contempt for polls (because 2016), and his base's similar contempt for polls and just complacency could come and bite the GOP in the butt in November. It's basically the same kind of mistake that the Democrats did in 2016 with the polls. While I wouldn't blame them for being skeptical of the polls after 2016, only thing is that this time, it's not just the polls that are showing the wave, it's every special election that happened since January 2017 and all of the primary results that are showing it too. The strategists and analysts are the ones screaming "Pay attention dammit!" while Trump is all "Nah, it'll be a GIANT RED TSUNAMIIIII!!!" and making Trump's base complacent.
  18. In the past when there were all kinds of sheneinighans during the Cold War, probably. But now, no. Though as the world hegenemon, we get targeted anyway. Plus we've done things in the past two decades that haven't helped people in the MidEast view the US more favorably, and I'm not only talking about Israel (though that one is a much longer running issue) If Russia steps up it's influence in the MidEeast, it might end up bringing the attention onto themselves rather than the US. Not that I wish it on them. Also, doesn't Iran primarily rely on it's proxies (Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, others) for it's influence abroad rather than expending it's military?
  19. Lol, if you think that 'right' wing media are responsible for Trump you are delusional xD I didn't say that, just that the right has their hand in creating the anti-media atmosphere. He seems to get what I meant.
  20. *points at the bloody war of 2016*. Okay, not literally bloody, but it did kind of crystallize what has been building up for years on the right, fuel lens by the likes of Fox News. I also wonder how many of those are just people agreeing with Trump without giving any thought to it.
  21. Sinclair trying to oust the media for collusion is so ironic when they themselves collude to control many TV stations and be effectively a state TV network.
  22. Yeah, Exodus, to my knowledge, doesn't even say why (which wouldn't have mattered in a religious text) they were in Egypt or when (Rameses is the only clue, but which Rameses), just that they had been there for at least two generations.
  23. What do you mean 'man the rails'? Just sort of going out on deck and standing around? I suppose ya gotta look good for the tourists, but still sounds preferrable to what GD described.
  24. You've mentioned that before too, Basically, they go through all sorts of crap to prepare for something useless just because the President wants a parade (as opposed to, say, a 4th of July parade, but at least you'd get a sense of purpose out of that) on a whim when the time could be used for far more useful things. You guys that were (or still are) military can describe it in better detail far better than I, a civvie, ever could though. Trump doesn't, obviously. He obviously just wants a parade better than the one France got, so he can **** measure.
  25. Yeah, Atenism was just one guys attempt to unilaterally and massively upset the status quo within a single generation and there aren't any indications of Egyptian cultural influence in Judaism as a religion (outside of being in Egypt for a time and Jesus's family going there for refuge) that I know of.
