I know both sides have done it, but Trump is President and he is Republican (more like RINO), thus the Republicans are the ones who have to do the first move. Still, an actual bipartisan effort to tone it down would be even better, but it's going to have to start at the top, which includes Trump.

*notes the 'and/or fear' part of that poster* Wasn't that a Colbert thing though? Going to also note that 2010 was also the beginning of the Tea Party movement, so, it was only a movement to restore sanity as one side defines it. Any movement to turn things down is going to have to start with Trump and Republicans. The only way that it can actually happen if leaders actually take a lead and crack down on divisive rhetoric. Having incentives to reach out and work with the other side may also help though. Usual NPC/Human/NPC FIFY

Which hamster (or maybe they're guinea pigs) Really though, brown/orange hamster is generally true of both wings.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was regional politics behind that claim, all the easier to claim that a country you don't like is messing with things than fess up that you screwed up (and yes, I see the irony in that statement in regards to Russia).

Registered Republicans? Maybe Gfted1, smjjames, and chilloutman. Right wring caricatures - Sharpie and SonicMage at present, but we've had some great ones over the years. Lol, how even do I come accross as republican? I'm actually registered as independent, with left-wing leanings. Chilloutman is Czech I believe.

These particular targets though? I don’t see how DINO would apply.

While it's strange to us these days, there are plenty of cultures and so many burials (Egyptian Pharoahs among many) that had people (usually rich and/or powerful) buried with things that they used in everyday life. So, it's really not that strange at all. Funny way to raise awareness of organ donation though I guess.

Nearly all domestic terrorism these days is right wing. Also, 'harmless'? Really? Initially I thought you were doing that to bash liberals/progressives, but that guy is just lol... pretty standard anarchist I think, or one of those 'libertarian' strains that think they're libertarian but aren't. Some sort of anarcholibertarian maybe.

And why are you using the laugh smiley? There's also a report of a suspicious package at the congressional mail screening facility in Maryland. No word yet if the ones in San Diego and the one in Maryland are the same or just people being hyperalert. Anyways, I don't know if the timing of all them being today is just amazing coincidence or just the nature of mail delivery or what.

Not getting the '4' bit in there, is that a reference to four-chan? Or maybe it's just the position of '!' on a non-englsh keyboard.
-
You'd have to be an idiot to actually believe that they mailed it to themselves. Also, apparently the one to CNN was meant specifically for John Brennan, the former CIA director. inb4 'drooling maga-hat wearing nutso sent them' and 'conservatives, who's the violent snowflake now?' edit: And one showed up at a Democratic Congresswomans place.

I haven't heard anything about Trump not 'accepting' the results (he has been throwing around 'warnings' of 'voter fraud' though), just that he won't accept the blame if the Republicans lose the House. Looks like the Senate could end up being either status quo or the Republicans win a seat or two, it's a tough one for Democrats. Didn't hear any people saying that Obama would refuse to step down either if Trump won. I wouldn't bet on it.

*notices one of the songs is called 'heartbreaker'* lol...

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/412114-catholics-and-exorcists-pray-for-kavanaugh-to-counteract ROFL Maybe they can excorsize the demons from Trump and Republicans HAR HAR HARDY HAR HAR, Seriously, what are the witches going to do, hex him to die a natural death (the most deadly of all curses!) or hex his hair to fall out (male pattern balding!)? I think the WHOLE thing is bull****.

The ban against using/testing nukes in space though.... Then again, I'd expect most military stuff to be hardened against EMP in some way.

I'm a bit surprised that the fact that it's jam resistant was mentioned, seems like such a detail would be classified.

Yeah, 1/36 to 1/1000 something-th is like what, maybe one ancestor from way back at the early days of European colonization? 6-10 generations from Elizabeth Warren would be something like the later half of the 18th century to somewhere in the 17th. Chances are that she may have a bit of Africa in her DNA, does that make her African-American? Plus, DNA doesn't determine cultural heritage. Also, as an op-ed on CNN noted, Warren has been conspiciously absent from struggles that Native Americans have had in recent years/decades.

Deniers gonna deny and Trump doesn't give a damn.

Shouldn't that be in the 'wierd, random, interesting' thread?

How do you get the idea I'm saying that they aren't capable? Seems like you're willingly misinterpreting what I'm saying. It's not the concept of the voter ID in itself that's the problem, the problem is how the whole thing gets implemented. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_ID_laws_in_the_United_States

You'd think there would be some kind of safety on it, or at least remove the bullets or something while it's under maintainence.

Yeah, the 19th century was notorious for those kinds of voting sheneinigans. It's true that voter fraud would be a bigger problem for local elections just because of the smaller pool, but, again, those crying voter fraud haven't provided proof that it's happening on a large scale now.
-
Conservatives: Voter ID is needed because voter fraud. That is literally their reason, I haven't heard any reason given (other than outright admissions of voter supprression) besides that. On the surface, voter ID sounds reasonable, but the problem is that it tends to disadvantage the poor and minorities and on top of that, voter suppression has been used in the past. So, really, the problem is a lack of trust on the part of activists, liberals, and minorities due to the past history and the fact that studies haven't proven the 'widespread fraud in the thousands or hundreds of thousands' that Republicans claim but have yet to provide concrete proof of. Remember the voting fraud commission that Trump made and disbanded? They couldn't even find the proof they were looking for and were actually planning on cherrypicking or possibly even manufacturing their own data to back Trumps claims.

One thing that was pointed out was hyphens. If your name was printed as Johnson-Smythe on your birth certificate but entered as Johnson Smythe (or vice versa) in the voter database, then you're not an exact match. Sometimes its a case a person's middle name was placed as the first name because the official entered the name backwards on the birth certificate. Or as an example of a extreme case, I have a good friend who was named one thing by her parents (a common diminutive) and the hospital put the common full name on the birth certificate against the intent of the parents. Since no one cared about exact match documents until after 9/11, a lot of people still have valid government issued IDs with the 'wrong' name on it, including mismatches with voter rolls. Also given the lack of hospitals in large parts of Georgia, there was probably a lot more live at home births that were recorded well after the fact, particularly in rural and poor areas which can also lead to miscommunication about names on documents. There very well could be legit reasons for the 53k mismatches, but the thing is that 70% of those on the list are African-American and Georgia is about 30% African-American. Brian Kemp is blaming it on a voter registration drive being messy with the paperwork, but still highlights the ways that Republicans suppress votes or make voting harder.

most democratic governments aren't limited to two parties. which may be why 40% of US citizens never vote, they're eager for option C or D but it doesn't really exists. That way, 'correction' wouldn't have to be so drastic every time. You hit the nail square on the head. They saddest part is there ARE other options. The problem with "third parties" (even though most races field 4 candidates of more) is that people are always told "they can't win" That is only true if people think it is. If people voted for third party candidates they WOULD win. And one win helps another and another and another. One thing the Democrats and Republicans agree on (one on many, many things) is to deny ballot access and debate invitations to Libertarians, Greens, etc. The message you hear over and over is "Voting 3rd party is throwing you vote away" and is the same as voting for the party you are supposed to hate. The two parties are well invested in their fostered hatreds. One of the biggest motivations for voting these days is to defeat the alternative rather than vote FOR anyone. It got Trump elected. So they compel people to choose the "lesser evil". But all you get is evil that way. Sauron or Saurman? Pick one! That Aragorn guy? He's third party, he can't win! Don't throw your vote away! Actually the problem isn't that people are told that the third parties can't win, its that somehow or another people in the democratic process believe that you have to vote for the winner, for some reason. Are they handing out $20s to everyone who backed the winning candidate? If not then back the candidate you believe in. If you don't believe in any of them, given them a vote of no confidence by voting for a fictional character. The only wasted vote is the one not made. Or a blank ballot even. It'd be interesting if blank ballots were legitly counted like they were in Brazils recent Presidential election. Anyhow, the real reason Warren is doing all of this is because she is so obviously running for President: https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/15/politics/elizabeth-warren-2020-dna-test/index.html
