  1. @firkraag: You don't have to solo if you don't want to, you're not forced to. Some people do it for challenge reasons, some for RP reasons. All you would really get out of it is bragging rights anyway.
  2. Plus the way that Niah (the quest giver) describes the reactions is practically that of a rock star. The quest will likely have minimal impact, if any at all, because she keeps the relationship to her mother extremely private.
  3. Well, I meant 'indengenous to the Deadfire Archipelago', even if the home civilization is equivalent to Rome in that they think they are the pinnacle of civilization and everybody else are barbarians. I had another idea last night, allied with Huana, but being a pirate at the same time. Honestly though, faction affiliation shouldn't stop you from being a pirate, it just changes who you can and can't attack. Edit: Actually, I looked at the wiki and it looks like Rauatai isn't actually in the Deadfire Archipelago? I thought it was in the Deadfire Archipelago. So, misunderstanding/misinterpretation on my part. Though Kana's family is from the Deadfire archipelago.
  4. I've read March 2018, so, around a year from now, give or take a month or two.
  5. What hotkey action is being triggered? I'd probably also check to see if the problem also happens elsewhere.
  6. I was doing the wailing banshee quest and I saw the bit about the Red Dream and that it has prowled the Deadfire for decades, and I had a thought. Since it spends most of it's time in the archipelago and the ship and her captian are practically legend, she seems like she'd be a powerful ally or enemy (depending on your reputation of course) and an excellent tie in to PoE1.
  7. So, basically, the Huana are the natives, the Principi are organized pirates the two trading corps are an indengenous civilizations trading company while the other is an outsider trying to invade into the others territory. The closest equivalent of those two companies are pretty much any major European trading company during the Age of Sail. Though the Royal Deadfire Company would be more like if Indonesia (or at least other SE Asian nations) was on par technologically with Europe. Anyways, being a pirate sounds like fun, so, I dunno, Principi maybe? or dissident?
  8. I'm sure it'll be awesome (and perhaps innovative), but lets not get TOO hyped up.
  9. On the Eotens, I believe there's at least one item named after them, 'belt of Eoten constitution' or strength or something like that. Never seen or heard of any references to imps, though they may be more purely mythological than any actual creature. I suppose we'll definetly see 'normal' wildlife that matches the environment of the islands, the Eastern Reach is pretty much all forest with mixed grasslands, with the eastern edge being jungle. Since these are islands, realistically, we'd have unique wildife for every single island, but given that the devs and art team definetly don't have millions of years of radiative evolution to work with (lol), the variation will probably be regional and it helps that we'd only ever see a small slice of the huge deadfire archipelago in one game, let alone a lifetime as someone said in another thread. Anyhoo, yeah, I'd definetly see more sea based creatures. I wonder if we'd see some island variant ogres? The archipelago is definetly big enough for them to have some safe enclaves, and the ogres certainly seem capable of building ships if they wished to.
  10. Isn't PoE2 not slated for release until March 2018 or so? You'd have a while to wait regardless. Not discouraging making a main, just saying that it'll be a while.
  11. Okay, thanks. Don't know what those posts about a new race or races were about. *shrug*
  12. Quit the sarcasm , I'm just trying to ask for information.
  13. I don't know about barbarians being at the bottom of the pack, Maneha can really hold her own, especially in tough situations. Granted, I am playing on easy....
  14. This probably needs to be updated, been a few months. The real reason I came to this thread though, is to ask about new races. I've seen in a few places about new races in PoE2:DF, but I haven't seen any actual info on that. Other than a few threads about new godlike subraces, but that's it.
  15. Well, her wiki page says she is from Naasitaq, which is part of the Deadfire Archipelago. Although a very southern part of the archipelago. She even says that she is from the Deadfire Archipelago when you ask her about her homeland. So, she could still return, just not as a companion.
  16. Oh, only a couple years or less than a decade, okay.... heh. Just long enough for the returning companions stories to play out and not long enough for the other events to really matter. Which ones are the returning companions? I think I saw Eder, maybe Sagani (her homeland is in the archipelago after all), and someone else. Edit: Oh yeah. Pallegina.
  17. I'm just wondering out of curiosity because it's been said that if you start from a saved PoE1 game, the endgame results (though you'd have to actually end the game for the history to trigger) will transfer in some way to the new PoE2:Deadfire game, and the thing is that many of the endgame history takes place over decades, perhaps a century or two. So, any idea how long after the events of PoE1 this game will take place?
  18. Oh I see, the writer of that guide seemed to be saying that they wouldn't be at your level, or maybe something about xp. Though given the date when that was made, it was likely before the ability to turn off autolevel was available.
  19. I DID say that I was going for the two handed weapon, and it was a temporary situation until I could get to it. It's been a long while since that level (level 14 now) and I've had the Tall Grass since I had the first opportunity to buy it.
  20. I fully expect the merchants to be level 16 fighters or whatever. lol.
  21. I guess for balance reasons? Though it does seem slightly counterintuitive, yeah, since wands, scepters, and rods, are all things you shoot magic out of. Though Durance prefers to hit things with his (yeah, I know, it's a staff, not a wand/scepter/rod).
  22. Actually, I've found that knockdown to be pretty useful. Takes the mob out of the fight temporarily.
  23. I only see it an issue when it's early on, though you can kind of get by with loot and quest rewards. I find that the main money sink early on is the Stronghold
  24. The only reason I was resting a lot early on was because the casters were low level and didn't have that many uses per rest (or spells). Now, at higher levels, pretty much the only times I rest is to recover from a bad fight (that I survived) or one character gets hurt badly, or I want to reset uses before a fight that I know will be tough. Also, what's a Vancian caster?
