I have a i7 quadcore + 6970. I know someone with almost identical rig and while the game ran perfectly smooth it was downright unplayable due to horrible texture pop-in-pop-out issues. And from what I know that's common with ATI cards. It was a big mess on launch for many people.

Well that sucks. If a solution is thrown in your face it kinda breaks immersion and sense of discovery. The way I play this kind of games is I do what comes naturally. Now I'll be in the mindset of not wanting to do this obvious thing spoon-fed for the benefit of idiots... But it's so obvious and natural... Ughh... God I want to punch those people in the teeth...

How does the writing and story compare to other Bioware stuff? Have no real interest in MMOs but for free I might play through the story.

Then it seems that this is what needs to be pushed. More power and choice for the player to fine-tune their individual experience. Always a good thing, unlike regulation.
