  1. There is a misogynist horde at the gates. Have you not heard!?
  2. You wouldn't be lost. The story and the setting work on its own. You just might not get a few easter eggs and thematic similarities.
  3. And that's what you do narrative wise. You are escorting a vulnerable character. Elizabeth supports you but she needs you to do the fighting at least for a large part of the story. She doesn't have to be useless for it to be an escort mission. But yes mechanically speaking they've simply removed the typically annoying aspects of an escort mission thus strictly from gameplay perspective it's not really that and in many ways the other way around.
  4. I really liked the whole ending sequence, the visuals and just the atmosphere. I also like that they went for a long ending sequence and not just end in one cutscene. Not however a fan of I'm also impressed that the entire game is basically an escort mission and yet it works so well. The companion AI is not really revolutionary but the choices they've made basically remove any annoyance. Elizabeth doesn't get shot at so it's not a chore to defend her and I'm pretty sure she sometimes teleports right behind you... pretty sure but not 100%... which is saying it's done well and doesn't break you out of the experience.
  5. Anyone tried the 1999 mode yet? How does it compare to Hard?
  6. Just finished Bioshock: Infinite 5 minutes. That... and there was a lot of it... I didn't see coming. Idon't know if there are plot holes, for now I don't care since it manages to pull all the strings anyway. Just wish the ending was So glad I didn't have it spoiled. And to think I was in a forum thread where people got spoiled and my eyes just barely skipped past it.
  7. Brand name = $$ If someone took Sleeping Dogs and called it GTA: Hong Kong instead it would probably sell obscene numbers and not the modest ones that it did.
  8. Who gives a damn. Looking forward to multiplayer.
  9. Those are high heels in her context.
  10. They can have all the sporty ass they want as long as they drop those ridiculous high heel.
  11. It's not like EA will change.
  12. Ok. That kind of hair-trigger to irritability isn't something I can understand though.
  13. Never experienced those problems. Cutscene QTEs 8-12 I would say. A very long jump may result in one hand grab which will leave you hanging until you hit 'E' to grab with your second hand. Door opening is a little like Batman Arkham City vents.
  14. -There are 3-4 wolves in one forest, they are easy to not let grab you. I was grabbed only once. Nowhere else in the game do they exist. -The counter is a single button prompt that you have to initiate on your own and know the button in advance, not really a QTE. Not to mention it's a skill you never have to choose to unlock to start with. -Melee finishers are prompts which you never have to follow up on. It doesn't cut into any cutscene you run up and initiate it or just shoot. -Boss finisher prompts are what? 2? 3? That aggrivating to push the melee button twice to see a finisher?
  15. Surely you mean cutscenes? I count 8 QTEs of the top of my head. Sure I'm missing some so lets say 16. Lets say 20 seconds of actual QTE on average. That's less than five and a half minutes. I find really hard to wrap my head around anyone being so easily aggrivated.
  16. It is accurate. I've seen it said in relation to video games. There is like 360 brands of feminism obviously some are more sane than others. "But it's our lot in life to serve our men and to not get involved in the things men take part in" That's a little excessive. The Twilight comparison is more like: "But I just want to be a house wife and let my man take care of the rest" Which is, unambitious as it is, a personal choice. Just like the fantasy of being rescued by an emo looking vampire dude. Which I get that it's a bad role model maybe. But again, they should go make their own instead of trying to shame others into some kind of 'right' way of behaviour.
  17. You are not the judge of that.
  18. Every QTE added together make like a few minutes of total gameplay. But if that's enough to piss you off you should get that issue checked out. Levels are not narrow at all. But the main path is linear if you have tunnel vision. There is plenty more gameplay. But yes it's a 'cinematic' game. You might not personally like that but keep that inflated opinion of your own tastes to yourself. Have you played it?
  19. I think it's bad to presume to decide for other women how they should or should not be perceived.
  20. And Twilight is a massive best seller. After that feminists tell us these stereotypes turn women off.
  21. And they take priority over the men that do like it why? *I* don't want to see most of those stereotypes. I don't want to see many things. I'm not going to call people names for making it.
  22. That's actually what it basically is.
  23. I'd rather she be promoting the things women want to see. Instead of trying to censor (through public shaming) what men like seeing.
  24. It's all kinda nonsense. I mean I get that if you are a girl in a predominantly male hobby it sucks that most things aren't made for you. But that doesn't mean that things made to portray male fantasies are wrong or hateful towards women. A lot of games' writing isn't sexists it's shallow and lacking nuance. It uses the simplest tricks like saving the girl which appeals to boys strongly on a very basic level. Once they realize they can make just as much money from women as men you'll see more female centric games. I'm just not sure what most women want is what Anita thinks they want. I doubt she'll appreciate Twilight in video game form. Also her story of the origins of the damsel in distress trope doesn't seem to even acknowledge the most basic thing from which a lot of these roles stem. Which is biology. Like it or not men are better suited for physical confrontation. The role of protector wasn't created by patriarchy, it was created by evolution. That is a huge influence on the way people think and stories they make.
