Regrets - games/console/hardware you have sold
SonicMage117 replied to Katphood's topic in Computer and Console
Sega Dreamcast with about 80 games, Original Xbox (2001 model) with 20 games, PS1 (very first year model), Silver Gamecube woth 5 games. Ironically, those were my favorite consoles of all time. Forget Atari and NES/Snes, these systems were where it's at! A few years back, I got another 2001 Xbox but only a few games for it. It's such a good console and I'm happy I found one brand new (box never opened) for $50.00 USD. In a way, I do regret selling all of those consoles but not a full 100% regret because I don't like collecting alotta junk lol Still got a PS2, PS3 that I never use. I'll never sell the PS3 because cell tech is too legit to part with I mostly just game on pc's and I never sell my pc's so I have 4 total bit only use 2. My PS4 mostly collects dust but I really like the PS4 as a system so I'll probably never sell it because of that. I'm always buying amd getting rid of handhelds sych as 3DS and Vita, necer once regretted selling them. I always think there will be a handheld which I'll use more than my phone for gaming... Theyalways disappoint me and to phone I go. Meh, that's about it really. -
So many variables when talking about such a topic because different genres move them in so many different ways. We have games like Infinity Engine games which feature some of the most horrible a.i in existence, we can see it in examples such as pathfinding (probably why combat is limited to limited format) and then we have great a.i in games like Alien: Isolation which take the a.i to anothe level in greatness. Where literally everyone a different experience as the Alien learns from players on an individual basis. Some of the highest quality and most technical a.i though, can be found in high speed fighting games such as anime 2D fighters or anything like Tekken 7. Ex. You can take a turn and cast a spell, the enemy on his turn will counter it with a remefied toxin which is faster reaction time than most players will ever have - I suppose that's exactly why Evo has some of today's most competetive matches, players are so used to top-tier a.i that fighting humans on the sam level or higher is just second nature at that point. A.I that learns isn't really that much of a financial investment but it's time consuming and takes so much playtesting to round out. If a company cares enough, it will show and as we consumers are often smart, we are able to tell which games show light on this. I just wish that Crpg's had good or decent a.i for once instead of being like The Sims and using other things to give difficulty to players in cheap ways. Other examples of bad a.i are often found in twin-stick shooters, games like Serious Sam series, and the like. These games heavily rely on swarms at the expense of a.i, when enemies are programmed to run at you with no second thought, I find it takes away from the overall fun factor as immerseness is taken away. I have alot more to say but not enough time so I'll just leave that for now. My point being that you'd figure you'd see the best a.i in rpg's which encourage strategy but it's really just the opposite.

It's not as good as the original Let It Go but relevant to the current convo so why not.. And I seem to faintly remember a group of carolers dressed up as carolers singing.... Hmmm... Any objections? No, thought not

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - BATTLE ROYALE
SonicMage117 replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
On one hand, most of the world isn't. On the other hand, why do we need to know? It almost sounds like you feel the need to defend it And Idk, good question but most of the world found it interesting as it even made top trending news today. Thereby which validated me enough reason to post it, I suppose. If I suppose wrong, it will be of some use later in some way or another. -

New great looking Cyberpunk survival game... Yes, it does indeed look great! -
The underrated beauty and freedoms of action rpg and consolist game... Fable.

Still til this day, I much prefer Sleeping Dogs and John Woo's Stranglehold over Shenmue and Yakuza. Not to say that the latter two are bad games by any means. Just that the prior two get to the point much more quickly via less filler.

*stops playing Yakuza* *Starts playing Fable* It's quite strange that you can do things in Fable that you can't do in other rpg's. But there's nothing really that you can do in other rpg's that you can't you can't do in Fable. Despite its shortcomings, the vision was huge and it shows in the situations that the game allows for. Kinda reminds me of the freedom that Larian gives players in Divinity Original Sin series (in different ways of course).

Why do people play divinity: original sin?
SonicMage117 replied to mrmonocle's topic in Computer and Console
It's really not surprising that D:OS2 was even more co-op focused than the first. When they looked at the statistics most people played the first game with other players. I don't think it's a bad approach,it really isn't that different from playing Magicka or Gauntlet in that sense which were also made for co-op in mind. Sure we could finish these games solo but what's the point? -
Fixed that for you. And yeah, there's a pattern. Nostalgia will be the blinding death of us all!!! To add to the current convo, yes I agree that the exploration of the first BG was more authentic, but the activity of the second is what pulled me in. Essentially, BG2 is like Skyrim minus the unused territory of course. That said, I hit the head right on the nail - as America would say. With the exception of badly written characters of D&D world, I very much enjoyed the games. Not my favorite but recommended. "Gotta get fries Boo, GOTTA GET FRIES"

I second the recommendation Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. It has everything you're looking for except it's not isometric.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - BATTLE ROYALE
SonicMage117 replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
Steam is my favorite and primary format. I tend to avoid the $0.49-$4.99 so I stay free of the shovelware/viruses. Very rare to see anything like that in games that cost $9.99 and up. The cryptomining game for example, was a $0.49 cent game. However I do enjoy Origin, GoG and Battle.Net as well. -

Ahhh yes, I'm sure that's why Steam is the number one gaming format. And next year, we all know GoG will kill Steam and Origin -

So... this thread turned into another "Steam or GoG" without purpose, basically another let's rat out Steam. We get it, people here hate Steam and Valve. You guys should write Valve a personal statement and maybe you'll make a difference (if it's really as important to voice how bad Steam really is) XD Now, back on topic: Denuvo hackers are getting arrested. Moral of the story, don't pirate/hack games. The end. More Valve news... (Because of the obsession here). #JustSonicThings
