  1. For Goty, the general consensus so far is: Best AAA game of the year: Nier Automata Best Indie Game of the year: Tie between Hollow Knight and Sundered Best Art Design: Pyre Realistically all the games on the list will win an award from VGA this year (yes it matters). Take that as you want it. I'm a realist. "My" goty doesn't have any relevance since anyone can say any bad game is their goty... Grimoire is such an example but at least it has spirit. The community makes me laugh as well.. the split is clear. Too many great rpg's have been released this year though which is Grimoires Achilles heel... where to start? Realms of Arkania: Star Trail, Legends Of Trail: Cold Steel, Ys 7, Ys 8 and Pyre..even move to West Of Loathing, then try Absolver. Games made by kids but higher quality and more depth than Grimoire at any rate. Hopefully this unbiased result answered your question!
  2. Fair enough but according to the net, Odyssey is severely underrated and I do enjoy DmC but I like silly/goofy in my games. I'm one of the few here who enjoy Fable and Divinity Original Sin if that says anything. I also really enjoyed Metal Gear Rising: Revengance though which felt similar to DmC but more "cool".
  3. I love Bioshock's unique art style
  4. I always forget I have Enslaved: Odyseey to the West. I never did beat that game.... I liked Heavenly Sword alot. DmC reboot was okay. They have a dlc that let's you play as old Dante (a skin rather).
  5. Usually it's something simple like going into your properties and checking "Run as administrator", Disabling high dpi, and maybe changing the compatibility settings. While that may seem like alot, it's really not. It's the simplest thing in the world but I've seen a few peeps complain about altering a game's text document file on Steam too. Once you do this stuff though, the results are usually much better than Origin or GoG's performance. I'm not sure why that is. I think it's because Steam's audience beung much wider and the overlay function resetting the game's contents to work with newer machines vs ancient hardware and os.

  7. With 19 hours of play... "By far the the least playable game I've ever purchased from Steam. It runs at 1024x768, and even then the windows and print are tiny. No manual. No explanation of anything. Crashes constantly. Every update brings another set of bugs. The graphics are from 1993. The interface is horrid. I can't believe someone took 20 years to create this garbage. To me it runs like a game an 11th grader created in a semester. I've been playing these games since Pool of Radiance. This is not a throwback to those games (unless you consider the lack of polish and clunky coding as a throwback). If you have nothing else to play wait for the next few updates then carefully consider buying it for around $10." I'd say this is still best game of all time for the stubborn 45yo though (Alvaron I'm looking at you!)
  8. I'm not knocking Origin or GoG, I use those and love those always. I also don't aim to give Valve any credit for that but it's rather the developers/publishers who favor Steam probably because the community is far bigger.
  9. To be honest, (I'm probably going to sound like a jerk) but I would rather take my chances on playing something new on Steam made by a 16 year old than reverting and reclusing to classics being brought into a catalogue. The best games I've played this year are on Steam and nowhere else. There might be alot of "crap" on Steam but it's up to the buyer to do proper research on the game as info is always readily available, we have that ability. Still, the chances of finding unknown gems on Steam are far greater than finding some on GoG, Origin or other pc marketpkaces. For that I am greatful at least.
  10. I read about that happening in some reviews. I wonder how old Cleve actually is abd how many years he has on programming vs how much knowledge he has in it. Strange that so many problems have occured, at least to me.
  11. In case you didn't know, Steam's versions of classic games usually vastly differ from the GoG and original boxed versions. We see this in games like Age Of Empires, Silver, Kotor 2, etc I wouldn't doubt if the X-com franchise was any different. The only ones I have are X-Com Ufo Defense, Enforcer and Enemy Unknown - I might have the Bureau one as well, I'm not sure lol
  12. I'm going to regret asking but which old ones? The ones with the overwhelmingly positive reviews on holy GabeN's Steam? I have the boxed versions, not sure if that makes a difference. The Steam versions are probably a bit better than the GoG/boxed versions per usual.
  13. Sometimes better gameplay (actual gameplay) is better than story. I'm glad you're enjoying it, although I think many people here on this particular wouldn't like it just because it doesn't offer options. Still though, doesn't make it an inferior game compared to what people here are playing, just different. From what I've seen it looks awesome. The PS3 game they made was awesome and pc gamers should just be glad that this one made it to Steam
  14. So far the game reviews have took a nosedive. From 80% to 66% positive in the lsst 2 days. I realize we are living in an optimistic world where we want to see these types of old-timer games succeed (I'm looking at you Alvaron) but that doesn't displace the truth here. So far, it's not one of the more enjoyable titles of the year. Average at best, I can see why people are disappointed but I also know why people want a game like this to succeed so badly. I think it's 50/50 on whoever plays it so I'm not surprised by the 66% positive that is currently on Steam ratings. I think that's fair for this title.
  15. I really like the X-Com: Enemy Unknown, can't stand the old ones which were a mess. Couldn't get into the newest one because of the changes.
  16. Welp... GoG eletists can't really complain about "crappy games" being added to Steam anymore. Looks like Grimoire was the last "crappy" one and now, looking at the upcoming section, these new indie games being made by 16 and 17 year olds out of high schook actually look phenomenal. Steam Direct was a great choice, while nobody believed Greenlight would ever actually die, Steam always redeems themselves in a way that the competitors can not. Better catalogue of games, more diverse games, better quality games. We welcome back Steam and it's DRM with open arms because options for the consumer is never a bad thing
  17. Steam is very important in this case, the developer is more active on the Steam forums than anywhere else. Anyways, the reviews are more "legit" now and it seems like the average continues to fall. From 74% to 71% overnight.
  18. Sadly, I don't have time for hardcore games with super high difficulty and perma-death like Diablo 3. I realize there is an argument because you always see me here on the forum but I'm always on my phone whether for work, contacts or stuff like this. I'm not too much at the desk.
  19. An anime themed Fallout lmao It will probably be pretty good actually.
  20. Indeed because we all know there isn't any great rpg's around the corner. Besides, if games like Call Of Duty win awards this winning an award would make perfect sense in the public eye. At least this one has spirit!
  21. The reviews shot up to 80% positive but are now steadily decreasing once again. The reviews are now at 74% positive and the decline is still in motion.

  23. In other news Cleve made a huge announcment about the game selling over 1,000 copies (Congrats Cleve!) but so far between launch and today only 120 people have actually played it so I'm wondering what happened.
  24. You just reminded me of these guys who claim Cleve is mentally ill and should be on medshttp://brokenforum.com/index.php?threads/cleves-back-in-the-public-eye.9354/ Maybe Cleve's brain-sickness is an infectious disease and is spreading worldwide
  25. Here's something weird... The rating for the game suddenly jumped to 76% positive and 102 reviews within the hour and now the "most helpful" review is a positive one by one of the peeps who craved a Wizardry fix. Must be a 80's gamer More importantly though, the developer is indeed a nutcase: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Vault-Co Also, this made me laugh my @$$ off and it should make you all laugh too, considering that I'd bet my life that a good chunk of Grimoires player base are GoG users lol Also I love how defensive people on the threads are. Say something true about the developer and you're suddenly a stalker. Watching the scramble has never been so hilarious!
