Depends on what context you have. Kingdom Hearts, to me, screams "let's just throw random **** into our game for coolness' sake." For all its flaws, Lionheart at least had some semblance of plot cohesion, at the beginning. Something like that, but better, would be optimal.

I was a fair bit lost at the outset and was sporadic in my play schedule, so at first I really didn't get into Torment. The restrictive character classes, the lack of variety in the weapons, the lack of armor and the reams (and reams, and reams) of dialogue put me off. But as I got farther into it it got better, and I really enjoyed the ending, despite being completely ****ed (being a thief and all) and having my wisdom and cha 2 below the threshold for non-combat victory at the end-game. It was a good game, and I'm sure it's great when one experiences the full reach of the options and paths in the game, but the first 75% of Torment is too boring to me to justify going through with different characters and fully wearing it out.

You should go, if not just to catch a glimpse of the solid dome of air pollution obscuring Athens from the sea.

I was looking to add NPC mods to my BG2 game but the whole 15-year old romance thing threw me off as well. But since I've worn BG2 down to the bone now I suppose I'll give it a try if it's really that good.

From the sounds Feargus were making, I'd say yes.

I remember the Fade CNPC mod being particularly well written (it only goes to the end of BG2, reportedly they're working on ToB content, but I wouldn't hold my breath). Dark Ritual adds a bit of fun, but can really unbalance the game in your favor. Unfinished Business restores some cut content, not a lot, but it's certainly worth the few bugs it introduces into the game. Also, there are some CNPC behavior and dialogue mods out there too. I don't have linkies atm, but Dark Raven might. She's usually around here complaining about something.

My friend and I came upon an arthouse theater today in Fort Collins, which is amazing to me, the closest other arthouse in Colorado is 50 miles south in Denver. They'll probably snag Paprika somewhere in the next few months. They also got ahold of Inland Empire a week or two ago and played it a few times, the owner said it was the worst movie he'd ever seen. So yeah, hopefully the place will last and we'll be treated to some good indie films in the future. They're currently playing Wind That Shakes the Barley and The TV Set. Dunno if I want to see either.

According to GameDaily, F3 will indeed use SPECIAL (this has been known for some time already) and, more interestingly / troubling, characters from the first 2 games will make appearances in F3, which I must say, makes no goddamn sense. Travelling on foot in a radiated wasteland full of danger was difficult enough just within Southern California. How the hell would they make it to DC? How would this fit into any coherent timeline? The obvious possibilities would be Harold and maybe Marcus. If Harold is indeed "special" as MCA suggests, they could reasonably put him in the game, as he could be immortal or just insanely, insanely lucky. It's getting a bit annoying looking over DAC for news updates and seeing a gripe about how they're not in the loop every post. You lay in the bed you make, boys.

I believe he's referring to the original game. We've got boatloads of people from Fallout 2, but the big three (Cain, Boyarski, Alexander[?]) are not present.

I contest any claim that SquareEnix makes RPGs but hey, what are you gonna do? Ouch, and on the Obsidian forum too. With all due respect to Obs, they're still a baby company. 2 games (whose success is owed in some part to previous Bioware success) does not a powerhouse make. If the Alien RPG and, more importantly, an original IP do well, then I think I'd be comfortable saying they've really come into their own.

Jesus, how old are you? I mean, you can dislike gaming over the last few years, but you're going to "give up"? How exactly are you "fighting" for what you want? You'd have the right to say these things if you were actually going to quit gaming, but you're not going to, or you weren't being passive beyond speaking up on a message board, and you haven't, so you're just making yourself look stupid. This is why you're not taken seriously. You can't expect to be just as you can't expect to make your parents to give in to demands by threatening to run away.
