  1. It must be frickin hard to solo with a barb. I've never tried to solo the game, don't no if I want to. I could probably do it but it would be incredibly tedious and time consuming and I like collecting loot and would hate to have to sell it all But if I was to solo I would do it with a wizard, Druid or a paladin. Maybe consider a priest but fighting enemies immune to fire would be extremely difficult. Frost wizard would be best. Druid good for per encounter spirit shift and paladin would have good defences vs will, fort , ref
  2. What are your battle tactics for boss fights? Eg dragons, bounties, ect
  3. Your dreaming people. They already have the technology built for this game. They have 30 people working full time on it. They have been working on it for a year all ready. They are full steam ahead. It will be released q1 18
  4. they have over 30 people working on it and its been in development now for nearly a year already. It will release first quarter 2018 no problems
  5. The more I read into this game the more I am becoming convinced deadfire is going to blow the game charts away and be the defining RPG of this decade. Startling originality combined with refined old school perfectionism from the best in the industry will create a game on a level not seen since the gold old baldurs gate 2 days. Bring it on! I can't wait it is going to be awesome.
  6. What formula are you using for carnage damage ? Carnage is done at negative 34%
  7. That's kind of the the point. The single target damage isn't going to be anywhere near to the Rogue, but you'll probably do way more damage overall with the Barbarian overall than the Rogue. Let's say you've got 5 enemies, each with 100 endurance, the rogue does 30 each hit and the Barbarian does 20 each hit. After 5 hits the Barbarian will have finished the encounter, whereas the Rogue will have to hit 17 times. Now compare vs a single target with 500 endurance – Rogue takes 17 hits, but the Barb has 25. Each class has different value. The fact that the damage is dissipated over a large number of enemies doesn't make the Barbarian "crappy" vs the Rogue, it's just a different way of dealing damage. that Is no where near the correct numbers. absolutely no where near,
  8. I've tried damage barbs with a reach weapon early to mid game and I'm sorry but they are absolute crap. The damage you deal is a lot but it is eveny thinly spread out amongst whoever is effected by carnage. This results in the enemies just standing around and attacking back for too long. At least a rogue will drop then down one by one quicker. Sometimes offence is the best defence.
  9. finally some common sense getting spoken Barbarians are good I think from a role playing perspective if your into that kind of thing. A lot of people backing them on these forums have an emotional attachment to them so naturally they stick up for them. @Boerer I think fits into this category. don't get me wrong I do the same with rogues because I like the role playing perspective of dual wielding swords anf being stealthy. Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Barbs are not that good.
  10. Heart of the fury killing entire trash mobs of encounters once you hit level 14 is not in my mind on par with effectivenes of any back line caster. And wizards have carnage aswell, ranged carnage, why on earth would your want to stand in the front line and do it
  11. Yeah but a barb is never going to be as effective as a ranged caster and you have to sacrifice a slot in your party to accomodate a barb. They definitely don't cut it as tanks (especially in the early levels) So there is no point really in picking a barb. For front line you are better of with fighter, paladin, monk, For back line you are better of with wizard, priest, Druid, cipher, The barbs carnage will never be better then ranged spell damage
  12. ^^^^** For players like us who have done 1000+ hours of game play yes the late levels become to easy and boring but for newbies they would definitely find it a challenge. And those powers arent that late game they get wave at level 10 I think, parasite 12 and web 14. But yeah they do good weapon damage meanwhile. It's a pity you can't buff yourself much as a cipher. Hope they fix that in deadfire
  13. Build this https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/92285-class-build-the-vampric-leech/ follow it and you will be very durable
  14. What difficulty are you playing on? You would be absolutely insane to dump CON to 3 points on POTD for a melee cipher. Completely insane. At starting levels I wouldn't dump res to 3 either , perhaps reroll and dump to 3 at later levels when your deflection is high enough. Min maxing is over rated and not needed. You need max intelligence and perhaps dexterity on a cipher nothing else You roll ciphers for three reasons: amplified wave, time parasite and defensive mindweb. Build you cipher to get the most out of these powers. They are game changers that other casters can only dream about.
  15. that is debatable. The conclusion I have come to is that they can be fun to play in there later levels 10+ Before level 10 trust me they royally suck but after that it is fun wiping out mobs relatively quick if you build them right
  16. Well no not really. There isn't just two stages of the game: start and ending. There is the middle of the game and the middle- End game. I would call that end game merchant in twin elms definantley End game.
  17. In pillars 1 they put that end game items merchant in twin helms and you had hardly any time to use the items eg Serious pain in the arse. There where lots of other examples of this going on aswell. This problem combined with having to level up the underwhelming soulbounds really left a bad taste in my mouth in regards to the magic items in the game
  18. You don't "out level encounter's" what you are describing is experienced players getting better at beating the game. On my first 3 play throughs I found the game very difficult and only started playing path of the dammed after that. It probably took me another couple of play throughs on POTD to get to the point where I don't play the game anymore because I find it to easy. So taking this into consideration first time players would find wizards, druids and priests extremely invaluable right through out the game. So "in fairness" I must disagree with the above. Ciphers are my favourite class but they are not on the same level as wizards, druids, priests at any stage of the game. Ciphers have whisper of treason early and mental binding but the durations are very short. At early levels Wizards have: parasitic staff, hardned veil, chillfog, haste, fireballs, blights, Priests have: holy power, iconic projection, painful interdiction, healing, armor of faith, dire blessing, circle protection Druids have the all powerfull spirit shift at level 1! this is a game breaker power so early especially the hasted cat. Then they get firebrand, insect swarm, blizzard, retuning storm
  19. @OP People could sit here all day and tell you about ways to get damage out of a paladin. But at the end of the day they are still in the bottom of the list of damage dealers. They tank and they buff..........period Best way I would suggest is to use firebrand early to mid game but then you won't be able to use a shield and will lose your tanking effectiveness. You will be better of with shield.
  20. It's been sorted. I've just gotten word from obsidian that they are introducing a new difficulty setting PATH OF THE MUMMY BOYS On this setting you can opt to have your mum hold your hand through out your adventures in the dyrwood.
  21. Having two dedicated tanks early to mid game helps ALOT on POTD. I don't really have a favourite party comp I just don't roll with chanters or monks purely because I don't enjoy playing with them. Barbarians take along time to find there feet but are fun once they hit the higher levels 10+ If I could rank classes in order of fun factor: 1. Cipher melee 2. Cipher ranged 3. Melee wizard 4. Casting wizard 5. Priest 6. Barbarian Druids are powerful but there storm spells make the game to boring for me so I try and avoid them. Relentless storm; the last true overpowered spell in the game.
