Not sure that changes anything, obviously trying to get rid of him because he knew to much can never be a test and he's obviously realised that all his devotion to her was pointless and that she simply does not care about him. His anger is still justified though, but I think I get your point. I can see it as being about expecting a reward in return, even to the extent of sex or being some kind of metaphor for that. I'm not sure really, it's not clear. It was really just that part about perceived wrongs I took issue with. Thanks for clearing it up.

I'm sorry but isn't this a little bit ridiculous? "perceived wrongs"? Trying to kill someone is wrong. You're reading a bunch of entitlement into him being mad about his goddess who he devoted his life to wanting him dead. I'm not saying he doesn't believe he is entitled to a reward from her but I don't see how your explanation for his anger at her works or is even needed. Well, he sure uses a lot of gendered insults. Not "that backstabbing ****" or "treacherous wench", it's all aboard the whore train with him. Frankly, I'm more surprised at the naivety of devising a god-killing weapon, then being surprised that your god wants to eradicate all knowledge pertaining to how such things are made (including, well, you). Yeah i'm not saying he is not a sexist, or that he isn't entitled. Just him being mad about that specific thing seems perfectly reasonable. You don't have to be entitled to be mad someone stabbed you in the back and literally tried to kill you, even if you are a terrible person who probably deserves it.

Tyranny's companions were all really interesting and unique also. I didn't feel like they fell so easily into stereotypical roles as a lot of Bioware companions tend to. I recently watched a netflix show that's an adaptation of the Dirk Gently books, really liked it. Anyway I was talking about it with my mom who had recommended it to me and she said what she liked most about it was that the female characters came off as tho they had been written as people, not female characters. I think that applies to video games, developers need to stop worrying so much about how they write female characters and just do it! Ignore all of the people on various different sides telling you how it should be done, women are people, women experience many of the same things as men. They don't always need to be written specifically as female characters. -

This isn't really true, Bioware has been including same sex romance options for years, they have expanded it more and more because that's what a lot of their hardcore fans want. It doesn't really have much to do with the drama of the last few years or what the Sarkeesians of the world think about video games. Also you just criticising developers for supposedly adding lgbt characters for politics and then in the same paragraph said that people who want that kind of thing should "write their own damn stories" um...that is what the writers at bioware are doing. Like in the end it's their choice and if you don't like it you don't have to buy it and I have always said the same thing to those on the other side who act like there is some big issue that not enough video games are catering to them and their sensibilities. -
All it requires is a slight change of wording for certain classes, tho I quite liked that my Druid could do that stuff it suited her character. I guess you don't actually have to pick those lines anyway.

when you are talking about a small group of people I don't think stats matter. Is it likely that a lot or all of them would be LGBT+? No, but it is completely possible and if it's possible it's realistic. Fantasy games are full of unlikely things, POE was no different. -

I get that but I don't think that's what people are doing, a lot of things have been said by Gaider and other devs about those three companions. It seems they are canonically bisexual and that's great but that still doesn't change the way they are written in the game. As mentioned before, Anders does not mention his relationship with Karl to a female Hawke, why is is this exactly? You seem to be accusing an audience of things the creators are guilty of. This is not real life this is fiction, you do actually have to indicate a character's sexuality for it to exist in a fictional world and Bioware obviously went out of their way to avoid doing that a lot of the time. Your point about Willow from Buffy is another example of this blaming the audience. Willow is described several times on the show as being gay after her relationship with Tara begins. There's even an episode where she falls in love with a man because of a love spell and tries to turn him into a woman because she is gay. Now until she started being described this way I was under the assumption that she was bisexual but then it's certainly possible that she is gay too so whatever. Maybe someone has said that she is bi later down the line but that was not how she was presented on the show. All the LI's in DA2 express interest in the opposite gender. It's not like some of them just don't talk about their interests at all. -

Yeah I don't think pointing out that every character in DA2 that could be romanced or even flirted with (apart from Isabela) was written to be straight unless Hawk is the same gender as them translates to "all bisexual people are sluts". I don't think anyone is saying they needed to be leching after everyone to be truly bisexual, the point is they all only ever express interest in the opposite sex. If you don't romance them they all enter into straight relationships, even Isabela does that. It was a silly system. I do get that the intentions were just to give more options to players of all sexualities but maybe this is part of the reason why romance plots should not be made for fan service. In the end most of my favourite romance arcs in Bioware games do not match my sexual preference. I like the feature but it's better when it's just written as an optional sub plot and isn't all about catering to fans. -
Completely agree I've not used a custom one yet because the portraits are all really good but they are lacking in a few areas. For example while they did add some more godlike portraits there still isn't one for each of the godlike heads and they are changing them (or adding more) for the second game. So it would be nice to have at least one for each and a few more for some of the races like pale elves, Orlans and Aumauas. Wouldn't expect them to add as many as they did for the first game but a few more would be nice.

the realism of gay wizards is a serious issue tho. -

As far as I know most people don't play any of the romances, tho that info is a bit old I think. Still they seem to focus a sizeable portion of their marketing on this feature and it does generate plenty of hype from fans which is gonna help sell the game to a wider audience. I don't really take issue with there being a lot of lgbt people in the games tho, we may be a minority but there are still plenty of us about. I dislike the idea that there has to be like at least one gay guy, one lesbian and two bisexuals in every game or whatever purely for the purposes of romance. That just seems silly to me. -

I can take or leave romances like some of the ones in Bioware games are legit interesting to play through but others just feel like fan service. The problem is bioware is now in a position where they have to make fan service for every different kind of person out there which is not possible so they always end up annoying a bunch of their fans whatever they do. -
Durance and Grieving Mother were certainly the companions I found the most interesting, they had a lot of personality. I guess I can see the worry of it being the close knit team of heroes and if you don't fit into that category then you aren't gonna have as much fun with the companions. I don't know if that will be the case tho, non of the Companions in Pillars one were really portrayed as overly good or bad people. Would be nice to have at least one off the wall character like Durance tho, who I just found completely hilarious. Maybe that Orlan companion, isn't he like a pirate or something?
