The Bad: Weapon proficiency Almost all of them a really bad (too much penalty) You're force to take them !!! Each time is see this screen, i want to hit something Lack of abilities Character leveling should be a reward. Actually some classes have nothing exciting to choose. By the way, we should be warned when in multiclass we choose abilities that will not stack State of the castersYou're slow as hell (ex: slicken was really good in POE1, here due to slowness it's useless) You have fewer spells than in POE1 => It means that for each level, the best spells will always be no-brainer choice (should i choose "Devotions for the Faithful" or "Barring Death's Door" ? So hard to choose ) Per Encounter means that you could do your best a each fight. Ok. Then you will use the same tactics at each fight. I love in POE1 when i have to use other strategy because i have no more "Ninagauth's Shadowflame" / "Relentless storm" / .... Lets not talk about the cipher. Poor guy abandoned by all. State of the combat system (recovery time, stacking issue, empower not clear, movement speed etc...) No slow mode. Ok seems it will came back. Can't wait because actually i just cant test the beta correctly. Ship : As Boerer said, it must be skip-able Common Inventory. I greatly prefer the POE1 system. I can't imagine all the stuff you will have on the screen at the end of the game. Or do another stash separate (ex: team stash and a global stash) The Good Environment, graphics. Multi-class. After reflection, I still do not understand why you needed to destroy the foundation to rebuild the house...

My exact feeling ! With the multi-class and per-encounter abilities, I feel we have a lot more to do and follow. Then add the new penetration system... Strange to aim to make the game more readable/fun and at the same time add a layer of complexity.

Ok tested on PotD solo. I just finished an almost full run (i just bypass concelhaut). I wanted to test this class that I played very little and I must say that it went rather well. You are to expect a lot of kitting but it was an interesting experience. Early levels, I go full stealth. When I got Badgradr’s Barricade, I start to go more for the fight. Some changes i made from the build : - I use Godansthunyr rather than CladhalĂath - I prefer to let MIG at 10 and pump more PER Thanks Jojobobo for your work (even if you're not there anymore)

Assorted, consolidated feedback on the Deadfire beta
vanyel54 replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I totally agree on that. For me it is the priority. I can understand that it is not the one for everyone but in the state the game seems very difficult to play for me. For the rest i agree with all your points. The problem is that many long-standing issues are still not settled. Hence the frustration and anger of some. It would be productive for the obsidian to have a better communication on this beta. They could for example communicate on the points raised by the community. Currently we do not know if these points were heard, if they are processed etc ... -
Intriguing idea ! Never thought about using Driving flights with spells. Is this the only spell that works with it ? Silver Flash is indeed much better. Divine Mark + Blinded afflication is really strong. But you've got it soooo late The draining effect is not really useful for a ranged character. But you have the stunning. And you could buy it as soon as you're in Defiance Bay. I still prefer Persistence but it depends what you wanna do with your ranger (dps/cc).

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]
vanyel54 replied to theBalthazar's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
A change to ignore armor would have made sense in the DR system of PoE1, but not with the penetration system of PoE2. Let me reformulate : Full attack : 5% chance to overpenetrate (so overriding your armor - penetration) It was just some thoughts to boost the One handed characters because, well, it is the worst... But i agree with you that the suggestions of theBalthazar are good. -
Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]

Puisque qu'on est en "French" mode, félicitations à tous pour tout ce travail ! Back to the subject, some thoughts on the one handed style. I like the suggestion of giving him accuracy (and nerfing the offhand on two weapons). But i think we should add a little something. Here is some ideas : +5 reflex, seems logical because you need less concentration using one hand +5 fortitude, to reward the use of a light weapon Full attack : +5% chance to bypass armor -
That's hard. I have thoughts about the same sort of challenge. But i haven't thought about limiting the looting of armors. Do you have thoughts for the class to use ? A chanter came to mind as a class that doesn't rely heavily on equipment. Do you intend to it on Iron man too (in this case you're in the sadistic mode ) ?

I will not repeat the biggest problems roaming the forums (casting time, single class, might change etc...) Combat Speed: i need my slow mode back We have 5 characters and for each action we must ask : am i under affliction ? am i accurate ? am i under penetration ? That's a lot of things to check. The last beta version is better but still i need the slow mode. Character Creation and Skill Points: Background, Class, Culture should not affect skill points Good point, i agree. This is a forced choice and it's generally bad in a RPG. Spell selection on level up I see two problems : - it remove a lot of flexibility to the casters (ouch i need to reset my priest for the prayer i dot not take) - a lot of spells will never be taken so what about replay-ability ? Did i take "Devotions for the Faithful" or "Barring Death's Door" ? Did i take "Relentless storm" or "Wall of Thorns" ? etc... A non-brainer choice is not a choice. Combined that with the lack of universal talents and the leveling is really depressing for some classes... Spell books Could be useful to give the possibility to manage the spells inside the books (switch them from one boo to another). Actually it's not really convenient. You have to remember with books contains witch spells, there is duplicate etc... Empower Complicated enough to use and understand. Regarding this, i do not feel that all the abilities/skills are managed in the same way We could perhaps simplify that by giving a boost to the character rather (ex : +5 to all attributes for the duration of the fight). Weapon Modals/Proficiency A vast majority of them are bad (giving a big bonus and a big malus is not a good deal) But what is annoying me the most is that we are forced to choose them. I REALLY don't like it. Once again, a forced choice is not a choice. Improve them and add them as abilities for each class.

Great build ! With this much intellect i add Munacra Arret and Ring of changing heart and it works really good.

Completely agree, actually you could not control the fight (CC spells are too long to cast and/or afflictions changes) You couldn't even buff you correctly before being engaged. If Obs want to keep these casting times, perhaps they could authorize some spelling (at least buffs) outside of fight. And with the casting noise, we could have a new element of game play (how far from my target could i cast my weapon invocation etc...)

Analysis of Meta-Game [Abilities/Spells]

+1 for this request. Rename them Action points or Mana or whatever. -
1) Exactly Mig was both Str and Res. But you could conceptually represent the Mig of your character as 10% physical and 90% psychical. So no "Muscle Wizard". It's all about mental representation 2) I agree with you that on a blank board i prefer distinguish Physical damage from Mental damage. BUT : Poe2 is a sequel and people expect to find the same base mechanism of the first game. This change brings a lot of problems even for basic build (and i don't talk about min/max builds). Your POE2 cipher/druid etc... will be less effective than in POE1. So you have to expect some complains.

But it does include Strength, and the more muscular Aumaua have more Might as their racial while the smaller creatures have a penalty to it. High Might means the character has both high physical strength and spiritual power, at least according to the in-game description. It really doesn't matter how many times you claim the opposite, it doesn't change what reads in the in-game description. I don't claim the opposite . I just say Might wasn't only Strength. You could perfectly think your POE1 character of 20 Might a not so muscular man but with great spiritual power. The concept of Might really useful for the mechanisms of the game but was clearly ill perceived by a lot of people. Let's resume my thoughts : until Obsidian find a way to adjust the hybrid classes, i still prefer Might as the one attribute source of damage. Even it means less characterization for the player. And give Resolve something else (there is a lot of threads about this).
