  1. I can see few reasons. First of all, it comes directly from Baldur's Gate. That game was RTS called Battleground Infinity until BioWare made a deal with Interplay, used AD&D and Forgotten Realms licenses and turn it into cRPG in quasi real time with pause. It has sense because tabletop RPG evolve from strategy games. If you look at Baldur's Gate which PoE uses as a template, there was black fog of war in unexplored areas and fog of war in explored areas. It worked in the same way as it worked i RTS games, for example StarCraft. And like I mentioned, BG in early development was RTS game. All Infinity Engine games had huge range of spells and ranged weapons. Range od those were set to "in the line of sight" mostly. You could cast fireball from huge distance as long as you had line of sight. You could use bow to shoot someone from very far. Fog of war was supposed to set some limit to that range. Why fog of war is in explored areas? In Infinity Engine games it was caused by technology. I guess. It is probably hard to limit character's line of sight if you put that character in 2d background without tilesets but with complex gemoetry. What I mean, for example you explored some dungeon and after some events, in one room few corridors prior to your current position some NPC appeared. With fog of war you are unaware of that, even if you already explored that area. It has sense. You see the map, because you remember visited places but you don't know what else is there right now. You don't see through walls, arround the corner. Remember that first BG used 640x480 resolution so visible distance was really short and I guess it was one of the design rules from RTS that most fights should take place on one screen in that resolution to avoid too much chaos and keep player's attention on squeezed combatants rather than moving cammera for long disntance to target another enemy far away. Classic Fallout games didn't have fog of war at all. With high enough Perception, some perks and high weapon's skills you could kill groups of people from huge distant being completly safe. Somehow it is realistic, but games, especially cRPG have rules and are attached to them through all the time without exceptions.
  2. But New Vegas is the true continuation to Fallout series, unlike Fallout 3 an 4 xD
  3. Why some high level spells like Minoletta's Missile Salvo, Meteor Shower, Storm of Holy Fire have only red AoE circle? It's against basic design of Intellect, which incrases radius of AoE abilities with the yellow cricle which won't harm friendly targets. In Pillars game mechanics come first. It can be seen in attributes' design. Like old arguments about "why Might boost damage of spell and my mage is beefy?". So I won't buy any explenation like for example "Meteor Schower is such destrictive force that no one can evade it". It still can miss. So why only red circle while Fireballs, Chill Fog and more have red+yellow circles thanks to high Int?
  4. Beta patch 1.1. and Devotion of the Faithful still doesn't work on invisible ally.
  5. Assassin was changed in beta patch. If polish tooltip is right, now assassin subclass grants bonuses to acc, damage and penetration not from stealth attacks but for sneak attacks if they crit, so no point in being so stealthy. One thing I don't understand is that it grants accuracy bonus if you score crit, but if you score crit what is the point in accuracy bonus? I can't look at it right now, maybe it just apply short buff for next attack. Can someone check it maybe? Or tooltips in my language are wrong.
  6. As it turned out, the game a whole bunch of things giving invisibility. Wael's scepter, for example, gives 25% chance on crit become invisible. The Eye of Wael was nerfed in current beta patch to 10% chance for invisibility on crits. I'm playing helwalker/assasin right now. It was cool combo with swift flurry and dance of death to stack high acc for frequent crits and get additional attacks on crits and chance for invisibilty (to trigger assassin's bonus for stealth attacks) + random afliction and ilussion's spell from Wael's scepter and bouncing damage from Aloth's scepter dual wielding with Wael's. It wasn't OP build, but after nerf. Now it's just dual wielding ranged shadowdancer and swift flurry in current beta patch works only with melee weapons so no point in that upgrade, Aloth's scepter don't hit additional targets. Only afliction from both scepters and ivisibilty from Wael's works but rarely. Those poison spells looks interestings. I wonder what spells was nerfed in beta patch.
  7. Vendor from Sayuka, women named Koami has that story about joining Royal Deadfire Company. That she meet the guy named Kono, fall in love, wanted to live with him but he scared and run away, joining military. Then she did the same. She was assigned to a ship and served in RDC. Kono left RDC and went to poetry school. I guess Kono is Kana Rua himself. What do you think?
  8. Yes, I remember that from my previous playthrough.
  9. Now every active character in party have to eat something to rest. It seems important. Grimoires have new, unique icons.
  10. The Eye of Wael nerfed: 10% chance to become invisible for 8 sec after crits (huge nerf from 25%) 5% chance to cast random illusion spell on target on hit 10% chance to put random afliction on target on crits Before nerf it worked really well with Keybreaker while playing helwalker/assassin.
  11. I posted it here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/101517-guide-how-to-steal-on-plain-sight/ This bug allows to steal from anywhere and anyone. Normally if character engage stealth mode in the plain sight, character is immediately detected and can't disappear until it leaves detection circles/vision's cones. Starting conversation made all stealth character slowly disappeared from detection even in the middle of the crowd.
  12. I run helwalker/assassin build and Aloth's scepter with swift flurry did pretty damage like killing 2-3 enemies with bouncing while killing main target in one seccond from triggered additonal attack. Swift flurry made it into assault rifle but it was still situational. EDIT If Swift Flurry doesn't work with ranged weapons then my build is useless right now.
  13. I'm not sure if stealth works as intended during conversation. You can enable stealth mode with one character. Then go to the most crowded area with chests or any different kind of "loot boxes". That character will be spotted ofcourse. Then it's simple. Start conversation with different character in the party. Detection circle will decrase, wait in conversation until vision's marker disappears, then end conversation, pause the game. Use hidden character to loot any nearby chests without beeing spotted. With enough stealth you can even pick locks. The hardest part in such cases is to get closer to loot boxes undetected and it's most of the time impossible due to crowd and their sight's cones. Normally character will be spotted passing through sight's cones, but if you start conversation while the stealth character is already behind or in middle of crowd, and wait until that character disappears, you can steal from anywhere and anyone before you will be detected. This trick simply allow to toogle stealth mode in places where the character is spotted from the start and normally can't disappear from plain sight. With conversation - can.
  14. I did disperse the souls as Wael asks and by doing it I broke all promises I gave to gods. I think only Galawain left. If he boosts bosses does it means that Guardian of Ukaizo will survive single Minoletta's Missile Salvo? I wonder if Wael will reward me for dispersing the souls. I would like to play Wael's godlike and have unique dialog like "I'm watcher, I have my eyes on you. All dozen".
  15. My current save is based on probably the worst scenario, the one with Watcher who lied the gods and broke promises about fate of the souls. Hylea Occurs during first scene with gods on the journey from Port Maje to Neketaka. Hylea sent birds to **** on my ship which gave me "guano" sails and hull with crap all over them. It's funny and it can be switched for any sails/hull upgrades. Berath Occurs after entering the Sacred Stairs district in Neketaka. Berath cast curse on the Watcher which lowers all attributes by 1 until the Watcher bring 75 souls to the Wheel (75 kills done by the Watcher so player's character have to deal finish blow). Rymrgrand Occurs during conversation with Rymrgrand in Realm of the Beast of Winter. Rymrgrand summoned memories of all Watcher's past lifes and leave the Watcher with heavy burden. It lowers Might and Resolve by 2. Right now it seems to be permanent. Rest didn't remove it. Work in progress.
  16. That would explain why I couldn't find it before launching new game and why I can find it while playing.
  17. Tekehu's Chill Fog is even more OP. Most fights take place in open area so lack of choke points somehow balance Chill Fog, but it is still one of the best spells.
  18. 1. I took quest from Ezalli Bardatto ("A sinking feeling") and try to convince her to find a peaceful solution. 2. I went to Atello Valera and spoke with him about peacful solution. 3. I took the quest from Martino Valera ("A bigger fish"). 4. I resolve "A bigger fish quest" and returned to Martino. 5. I spoke with Ezalli that Atello wants to find a peacful solution. She agreed to meet with him. 4. I proceed through "A sinking feeling" questline to find out about robbery the vault and stop that quest just after the task in the Hole inn. At that moment : 1. I could speak to Ezalii about robbery and follow her plan to set a trap for Valera family. 2. I could speak with Atello Valera about Martino's plan to rob the vault and follow his plan. 3. I could speak with Atello about meeting with Ezalli to negotiate agreements. I wanted both families dead so I planed to start meeting and turn them against themself, but my party had low level at that moment so I went do some other quests. After I did some quest like Poko Kohora and rescued Oswald: 1. I went to Atello Valera to start the meeting, but there was no option because he find out that Martino has plan to rob Bardatto's vault. 2. I was sent to rescue girl from Bardatto's estate. 3. I went down to the basement and I've been attacked by welcoming party just around the corner (there was nobody near the stairs). 4. I meet the captain and his man torturing the girl. 5. I killed all hostiles. 6. The girl said that I should run through the window, but I robbed the vault and walked out through the door upstairs. 7. I went to Atello Valera and he was conviced by Martino to kill Ezalli and her family. 8. I killed all Bardatto. 9. I went back to Atello and was rewarded for dealing with Bardatto - "Family Pride" quest was finished in the journal. 10. I could speak with Atello and one of the options was to arrange meeting with Ezallio. 11. Negotiations started - Ezallio and her people at the meeting were alive. 12. I said that I gathered them to kill them all. 13. I killed them all. 14. I didn't get journal update, but in the finished "Family Pride" quest second stage from the top was about previous final solution to that quest (that I sided with Valera and eliminate Bardatto). The top task in finished quest stated that the negotiation was closed with a massacre. Now I have double Ezallio's equipment and I guess double Valera's family weapons. 19. Is it possible to implement such feature? It should work just as Expert mode but only for conversations. I would like to play without obvious skillchecks, personality changes icons near all dialogue options, info about gain or lose of reputation. Iirc there was such option in Tyranny and PoE 1.
  20. Rare grimoires add additional spells like Ninagauth's Shadow Flame (ice damage + paralyse). There are at least two grimoires with direct damage spells from levels 2-4 and even 7, dealing raw/corrosive/ice damage and bonus effects. Concelhaut's and Ninagauth's unique spells.
  21. I had most fun with revenge on Benweth stealing his ship and then killing him while he was alone. Arkemyr's Mansion is cool too. I really like Fassina, imps, props in the mansion and ofcourse meeting of the circle. If you trade knowledge with Llengrath, you can ask her about her dragons. And I found Arkemyr to be very funny person. Ruins of old city has great atmosphere, nice layout and big worm which was the only hard fight for me (I was level 6 or 7). Nemnok is funny if you play as mage or scientist there is an option to speak that he is just an imp. Then he explains something with dreadful tone and watcher can once again tell him that he is still just big imp.
  22. I don't know yet. Berath's Wrath looks like red version of Punisher's logo :D
