Even in my little experience in Spanish, I find that this is the case, although most people I've talked to said they understood more that 20%.

I know that France has a similar organization that decides what is "French". I know of no such organization in the United States. Do most European countries have such a group? Clarification: I'm referring to a government organization, not dictionary publishers.

What a hater, for some one who has never been in any trouble on or off the field and in the case of Ray Lewis, didn't kill two people, people really hate T.O. Ofcourse alot of people couldn't stand that Monday Night Football sketch because it had a white woman with a black man, its unfortant that we live in such times <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think it was because of their race, it was the whole skit that ticked people off.

I think I'll start here. Then I'll try to move down Hades' list. Of course, once Feb. 10 comes, all other games are put on hold (although Rome: Total War will be hard to put down...)

Economic Left/Right: 2.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.08 That's puts me just northeast of Tony Blair.

I agree with Cower's (sp?) choice, you've got to keep the rookie in. After all he's done, you know he is the future of the franchise. I am torn about the Super Bowl. I've hated the Pats ever since Bledsoe was there, but I can't stand the Eagles either. I'll probably be pulling for Philli, going against my Colt's AFC.

Why must you say such a thing about a man who brought laughter and fun to so many? Even if it was a jest, it was in bad taste. God bless Johny Carson.

Quite a list for one just starting out...

Of course I won't be learning "Spanish" Spanish. But I wouldn't go so far as calling it "Mexican". Besides, living in the United States, Mexican Spanish will be a whole lot more useful to me than Castillian.

What a great year of gaming ahead of us

As much as I'm looking forward to Civ IV, it doesn't really have to be Civ IV. Anything Sid Meier touches turns to gold. -
Thats OK, you are forgiven Oh, and the explanation: It's subject of much debate, but the general concensus seems to be, that the C in CRPG is the very same C as you find in PC, i.e. Computer, not to be confused with the C in Console. CRPG type games on Consoles sometimes uses the J designation (JRPG) easy to remember as the the J in Console... Confused ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah, I know that I'm not learning "everyday" Spanish. But I live in a part of the United States where there are few Spanish speakers, so it can't really be helped. I'm going to Mexico this summer to work on my Spanish skills with the native speakers.

Civ IV!! WOO HOO!! (w00t) -
Thanks for all the suggestions. Feel free to post your other recommendations while I try to hunt down some of these games... Forgive the ignorant, but what is the C in CRPG?

"I said it sounds like rebellion in a few ways Like you have a galaxy map with the rebellion and the empire and you select where you want to attack or build at. The Empire is a dominate force while the rebellion runs around in the out rims and such hiding till they build up their strength. You get heros that do battle or diplomacy. You build ship yards and training facilities. You carry troops on to new battles. You use troops to stop spies. actaully, this really does seem like a RTS game with rebellion tacked on." "Indeed. And if I remember correctly, 'capturing' certain enemy heroes would satisfy a win condition." Yes, in Rebellion you had to capture Luke and Mon Motha, or Vader and the Emperor to win. You also needed to either destroy the Rebel Base (which was moble) or capture Coursant. I think this new RTS sounds just like Rome: Total War in Star Wars. Sounds like it could be a winner, though (Rome is a great game).

Yeah, I thought the same thing. That's why I said what I did. Thanks for all the advice. Keep it coming!! I enjoy diverse opinions.

I mean quality strategy. (Don't fight the point, I'm only joking around...even though I'm right. )
-
Someone explain this. The name Hades_One no longer has an avatar. Now Hades' avatar is used by Llyranor. What's going on? Is it the same person? (Now everyone will respond to this and not my original question. )
-
Yeah, I did like the concept of Rebellion. This one does like Rome: Total War with stormtroopers. We'll see. They might do well with it if it's in the Total War mold, not C&C (which is what you just said, I'm just agreeing).

I've always enjoyed strategy games, as well as some sports games. But when KOTOR came out I gave it a shot (always did like Star Wars). I enjoyed it. Now I'd like to try some other RPGs. But, were to start? Please give me some suggestions for quality RPGs to try. From what I've read, most are fantasy, which really isn't my cup of tea, but if it's the only quality out there. (I'm a PC gamer by the way - as if there are strategy gamers on consoles)
-
Age of Mythology - I've always been a strategy gamer, but never really did like this one. The campaign was...decent, but I never enjoyed the random map play. But it fell way below my expectations.
-
I came here for KOTOR II. Never really thought about what I would do after the game came out (still waiting for PC). I like hanging around here. But you're right, there won't be anything left..... We'll see what worth talking about shows up. I sure hope something comes....
-
Yes, very impressive.
-
That's what I come here for - to give language lessons. Thanks for explaining it though. I've been studying Spanish for several years now, but I'm been studying "formal" Spanish, so lessons like that in everyday speach are appriciated.

Uno de mayo de mil ochocientos seis. Isn't it primero de mayo de mil ochocientos seis? Maybe you only say primero for 1st in certain dialects of Spanish, but I know it's that way at least some places.
