  1. Okay, it seems my mega-post got a bit ignored (which sucks, took a long time writing), but would still love an answer to it's most pressing question. What do people think about Ukrainian government using the military against *it's own people*? Especially people who found Kiev was excessive against protesters may reply...
  2. X-pack funds are still funds for PoE. I think it's too late to use the money now. It would just lead to features being added that weren't pre-planned (with all problems that can give), potential feature creep and seldom does the endproduct justice.
  3. Heh, didn't intend to put a whole Snowden discussion out there. And I see someone complaining saying one bad thing about Russia is 'defender of the West'... I can say plenty of bad stuff about Russia. But in this case, they're just damned right. The EU and US should have had nothing to bring in the Ukrain crisis. It could have been intern. But no, they had to go there and support to get a border for the NATO against Russia. And now we might get war. Maybe, just MAYBE, we're pissed off about that. Political Power games over the backs of the entire world. It's not something I would want to support, and the better we can resolve the Ukrain crisis without ****storm, the better. Sadly, the West is trying to make this all kinds of impossible, and seems to monger for war (and then claims it's all Russia's doing merely for bringing their troops to a border to a hotzone, something every country would have done). Also, Bruce is right about the NSA. Now, this is secret, so shush shush, but the UK, Germany, Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders where planning a MAJOR terrorist attack on the US. It was only thanks to Prism taps on them all that this was narrowly prevented. Currently we're doing a major program into the WWF, suspecting suicide bomber panda's. The UN might be involved to, so we listen to them aswell. As well as a 14-year old somewhere in Europe who's party will be 'the bomb' next friday. We're on high alert! Goofing off outside, yeah, probably time to return to Ukrain. Remember the international complains of excessive force in Kiev? Remember the army there? Tanks? Planes and helicopters doing attacks? No? Well, I see them in East-Ukrain, and where's the international commotion now? The outrage? It's even against Ukrain constitution to use the army against it's own people, but hey, stamp 'terrorist' on them and it's okay. Even though I never seen an anti-terror team with jets or tanks yet. It's an interim government, but it's breaking all kinds of conventions said to fight it's own people. And it's completely silent in the UN or Western front. That's what we call 'selective critism' or 'hypocrisy' Were was he to go? He asked EU-puppets, but they would all simply turn him over to the US. So there was really just one place that would definitely never turn him over and go there. I suppose "self-protection" is very doubtful in the US these days? Heck, they even landed some countries (can't recall) president's plane (with the president on it) because they thought Snowden was on it. In Europe! So no surprise he didn't feel safe here in the EU. And he's replaced by... well... people who match all of these descriptions to the spot too. What's the improvement for citizens of Ukrain I ask you? Raised Russian oil prices? How's that super-boon turning out for them so far? If you replace something bad by something equally bad or worse, what's the point? That's also happened in Egypt for example. So far, they have definitely shown themselves to be much worse. USA is rapidly becoming an authoritarian state, repressing/spying on it's own people, repressing people in other countries, spying on *everyone* in the world, waging war on sovereign countries (Afghanistan and Iraq are two examples) to make a land grab, and is currently using 'diplomacy' to annex what it can from Ukrain. Even if Russia is guilty of similar in some] aspects, this does not give US/EU a free pass. See how you can switch out Russia and US and have the same result. Of course, that makes me a Russia lover, always choosing them. Or maybe, MAYBE I just agree with them on THIS crisis. If the EU and US just let Euromaiden run it's course we wouldn't have so much issues, but no, they just had to interfere to make a bridge from the EU to Russia. And for Ukrains sake, if it is to be invaded, it would do better to do so by Russia than the US, who have shown that ruling a country half-the-world away isn't all that easy. And the EU is just incompetent. I'm ashamed to be part of a system so dumb. As stated, just because I live in the EU doesn't mean I agree with all it and the US do. We just roll over and lie down for the US to waltz all over us in all matters. I wish we could make a stand against. But I guess the EU is too troubled but putting money down the drain, and then hoping the countries it forms pay it more money to handle extremely badly. I've seen from the start that things wouldn't become better for Ukrain if they go for the EU for support and trade. Sad to see it going into effect. And also how the EU just after the riots gave 1.2 billion euro to Ukrain's new corrupt politici, no questions asked. Did I say yet they're an incompent bag of ****? EDIT: My opinion is the right opinion. Yours is the wrong opinion. That's how democracy works.
  4. The big problem would be then you got Spell Deflection and Spell Reflection... 1 letter difference. If you talk about some of the confusions you currently have with spellnames, well, that one would be a doozy!
  5. I notice a Dutch Steam... Even I don't run my Steam on Dutch 0_o
  6. Someone's getting touchy. No, it's definitely illegal. Also by US law. In the grownup world, the government likes to keep it's illegal activities covered up. You really think Congress would just out it in public? If everything was so perfect as you say it is, we wouldn't even need things like wikileaks.
  7. Seriously? Everyone agrees/knows what the NSA did what outside the law, even the very broad laws of the US in regards to terror (which should tell you something).
  8. As in both had to flee to Russia to prevent the US/EU to kill them? Yes. Bruce, you might think that, and who knows, they might even give him a public execution for his publicity (ha!) but we both know if the US get its hands on him he's a dead man. And the entire world will keep it's mouth shut and not complain, even if they have more right to that than what Russia did with Crimea. Welcome to World Politics. Also, I recall the Royal Family of the Netherlands freeing to Great Brittain during WW II. I guess that's betraying too? Oddly enough once the war was over they could simply return and everyone was proud on them and took them back... and didn't put a bullet in his face. But I suppose it would have been much much better if the Germans killed them right. That's the only way to support a country, by letting invaders murder you. Wow.
  9. I think the whole 'Rogue' comes from the modern believe (thanks to WoW?) that Rogues are DPs rather than support characters (cause support in the trinity? Fo shame!) And instead of holding true to it's own rogue D&D took over this other worldy rogue. Another case where the MMO Trinity ruins everything... and I am sad to hear it's also used for base in PoE
  10. Seems a lot of people neem to replay BG2 in this thread. But they wont, because 'it's a horrible game'... and then they back PoE and expect different while we all want more BG2. What? That's some major nitpicking there. While I suppose generalisation is nice, is that seriously an actual complaint about the game? That lesser and minor at once is hell??? Blame the english language. Deflection and reflection sound the same don't they? But they're completely different! Really can't expect them to switch the laws of language and create names that sound nothing alike. Be glad they even used Turning rather than Reflection, or you would have had even more trouble with this! It's rather hard to complain about english linguistics on a game, and I assure you, PoE will use that same crappy language too. Maybe it's not too late to get it all in German instead. And actually seriously hope PoE will dumb down and be crappy and simplistic like modern systems. Yeah, I share your fears...
  11. Ah, so that's why Snowden is facing 'high treason'... not allowing yourself to be captured and dissapear that means this day. Yeah, I totally don't understand why both of them dont let themselves get so easily killed... I mean... that's the right thing for their corrupt country right? ...
  12. Ehm, yeah, I *still* didn't link it. As I stated before. I ignored the chart because it's not my task to defend other peoples post... I've played plenty of RPG's. Plenty. A quick look in several threads will learn you many other forumgoers have the same. Who's arrogant now with 'you never played modern RPG's bar The Witcher'? Seems to me it's more about fixing the players than the game. I know I've gone through BG2 without sleepscumming, savescumming, without doing the same several counters against mages, BG1 without HP-on-level-up savescumming. Heck, I never even used the 'obvious counters' people say here (like anti-magic for Kangaxx or petrification immunity for Basilisks). Yet I made it through. Odd, isn't it? Of course the game did get a lot less fun after Atkhatla. But the same is true for PS:T and Sigil. After so much freedom and places to go through, railroading a combat-heavy path will seem sucky. That's really my only problem with BG2, more so than what you say is wrong with it. I'm like... the worst AD&D/Infinity Games RPG gamer ever. Yet I completed pretty much all of them (bar IceWind Dale II, where I have a save from before the final battle I never returned to). And enjoyed the heck out of them despite sucking, or being often completely mutilated repeatingly. And it's not like modern games do better on the tension part... "The galaxy is dying... go ahead, scan planets!", "our sovereign is dying. But she probably will survive till you finish the entire Mage Tower plotline!", "Khoonda can be attacked any moment now, and moment, any moment *3 planets later* any moment!" But hey, that's actually a good thing... otherwise you get Human Revolution type of situations... 'want to take your time getting to know the game... THE HOSTAGES DIE!' serves you right for trying to get acquited to the game, controls, HUD and all... sucker.
  13. I only want to say to Lephys last post "That's like giving a FPS "Protection from bullets"" pretty much all 'old-school shooters' have that (Painkiller, Serious Sam, Bulletstorm, Unreal Tournament). And what's with that bullet time in Max Payne, eh? EDIT: Now I recall you can buy it too in Saint's Row III and IV.
  14. Hey, next time I am in the US I probably should threatnen the president. As he takes off in Airforce One... I am totally legitimate to take over the country. Or maybe... maybe... it doesn't work that way. You... take the best deal of the 2 presented to you. You know... capitalism? That's proof for bias now...? But yes, you are right, it would be so much better for capitalism if it wasn't for that pesky competition. How dare they counter-offer! And how dare a sitting figure choice between 2 deals for the better one instead of ours. How dares he! Actually, asking a neighbour for help in matters isn't exactly that uncommon. Nor do I see how it can be seen as betrating or acts of war. Really?
  15. If you don't cry during the Lion King... you have no soul.
  16. Since most of Karkarov's is his own opinion and not OE's it's to be taken with a grain of salt. But still, I would indeed be very interested in what OE (or specifically Sawyer) indeed finds pain-points of OE that aren't technical (like pathfinding). We've already got quite a few, and not all of them fill me with confidence :/ EDIT: Okay, the link Stun pointed to is... troubling.
  17. Well, it's a little hard to march armies to the borders when you don't match borders... don't you think? Not that the US really cares about borders, and happily attacks countries half-the-world away, but that's another story. I would be very very surprised if they didn't actually have agents there assisting at Euromaiden. They're just better than hiding it than the Russians, and no-one's willing to look as dilligently for them. The EU and US intentionally did this hoping to gain a stronghold so near Russia. Is anyone surprised they don't turn over and let us waltz all over them? Also I find it funny putting a pro-west government in place isn't 'invading.' Maybe we should let Russia decide Congress next?
  18. I've only played DC, so I can tell you a bit about it. It's very fun as long as you avoid the RTS (shame that's the only place for being an awesome dragon) and just play it Risk-like. But yeah, obviously nowhere near as good as actual games that focus on that, the political part is definitely the best, but slightly hammered by how gameplay and choice don't really match. If only they dropped the RTS part, everything else could have been so much better. Actually, skip DC, go for Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga --------- I've just finished Goodbye Deponia. Went to the Steam forums and read some reviews... and holy ****... people REALLY dislike if a game doesn't have a better sweet totally same as all other games ending. Comparing it to Mass Effect 3's ending? People have no idea what distills a good or bad ending, do they? Although it's sad the trilogy is over, and it's quite the sad ending leaving you a little 'it's over? :(' it does do it's proper work as ending, and is a fine end. The game itself was also quite fun (still can't beat Day of the Tentacle 3-character gameplay in an adventure it seems), even if some jokes were a bit too much for me.
  19. Let's see... LucasArts... Battlefront 3, KOTOR2... check! Let's see... SEGA... Alpha Protocol, Alien RPG, produces horrible Alien game everyone hates... check? Not to mention I like Alpha Protocol and KOTOR2. So, indeed they don't get treated differently, but it doesn't quite seem like the publisher treated other developers nicer anyway. Or maybe that's completely my point of view?
  20. The theory gets old too. I've heard Russian instigators where behind the violence in Euromaiden. And now they're behind East-Ukrain. Where can the West get some Russian Instigators, they seem to be behind everything! It's not in the least suspicious either that after Kiev has fallen 1.2 billion from the EU could suddenly go that way (where the hell does that money come from anyway, isn't there some crisis here? 0_o), right? Or how this rebbellion is "legitimate" while actually democratic votes are "illegitimate" because of, well, the West says so (any other reason, there is not). But sure... all that means nothing compared to Russian weapons being there. I mean, not like a lot of them have been sold and Russian military AK-47's are worldwide used now, right?
  21. It's not my chart... Feel free to point out some of the 'fairly obvious problems' of IE?
  22. Decided to boot up Surgeon Simulator 2013 I got at the humble indie pack. WORST. GAME. EVER. I didn't think it was possible to feel ripped off playing a game paying 1 dollar... but it is!
  23. Cause they rehash their games more than a cow their grass, and people still somehow buy each and every incarnation. Yeah, I don't get it either.
  24. They also need to sell a lot more since they take a LOT more money to make. I look forward to the day people are fed up and the highly expensive game gets barely sold. That's going to sting. The PC is more popular than ever?
  25. Take that in mind. Now, make ALL traps in the game release poison smoke to kill you. See the variety already? Even if for you maybe one encounter is "wasted" since you cast spell X and are immune... isn't having ONE such encounter in the game not more variety than instead adding there one of the same encounters we already had? The way to solve it doesn't make that it NEEDS a change of strategy. That, by my very definition, is variety. EDIT: Example... 100% of your traps are poison traps. You equip 100% poison resistance. Now you can walk over all traps unscathed. Then suddenly, one of the traps sets up a FIRE bomb, and you burn to a crispy ex-hero. "Suckerpunch... you just need to equip 100% fire resistance and you can walk through it!" Well, that maybe true, and there also other ways (avoid it, disarm it, etc.) but you can't deny it adds variety to the table? So... why again, is that a bad thing?
