Not creepy <_<

Okay, maybe he was right.

Go go irony.

I was hungry too, so I finished a bag of Doritos.

Heh. I used to not be a FPS fan at all. Didn't see the appeal of games like Quake or Doom back in the day. I was very into the Jedi Knight series, though, but that purely for the lightsaber combat - guns were only for losers. The UT2k4 demo changed all that. Assault and Onslaught gamemodes really got me into the game, even making me forget that I didn't like FPS. Awesome vehicle implementation didn't hurt, either. This is pretty much one of the best demos ever released. So yeah, my ATI video card came with a free voucher for Half-Life 2. I didn't care before then, but now I was looking forward to it. The voucher gave free access to HL1 and its mods, too, so I got to try those out. The genre wasn't bad. My reflexes weren't bad. I was enjoying the games. Half-Life 2 didn't disappoint when it finally got out, either. I really got into Counterstrike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source, particularly on the http://www.tacticalgamer.com servers, where it's not just silly run-&-gun, but each team is fully focused on communication (thanks to the built-in VoIP) and teamwork, through relatively complex plans and tactics. It's this kind of tactical teamplay that really got me into the genre, I'd say. Like I mentioned, my reflexes aren't bad, and I do pretty decently. However, what I didn't like too much about CSS and DoDS was that reflexes could get *in the way* of good tactics. Some people like this type of balance, but I don't enjoy the opportunity to be able to go rambo and murderize the entire enemy team through sheer 'skill', despite their having a better plan - even if I'm on the giving end of the ramboing. Nick pointed me in the right direction. Operation: Flashpoint. Pretty old game, a 'FPS', if you will - but labelling it such doesn't do it justice. A realistic military simulator would be more accurate, perhaps. I played the demos and quickly got hooked in. I can't really go back to 'standard' FPS games anymore, not when I can get better tactical teamplay elsewhere. This is why I'm really looking forward to Armed Assault, which should be due later this year, from the makers of OFP. Hmm, oh yeah, my point. Er, yeah, I played the FEAR demo. Quite fun, actually. Bullet time, good atmosphere, decent AI. Seems like a good FPS. Not something I'd buy, though.

Haha, I remember the outrage when it was changed to a console-exclusive title. Fortunately, Jedi Outcast came out on PC later on and destroyed it in virtually every possible way.

Sorry about that. had chili for breakfast. There are only 4 types of people I take seriously. 1: Developers. 2: Moderators 3: Friends. 4: Family. That is it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And publishers.

I'm quite confident FO3 isn't going to suck. In fact, it's probably going to get great reviews and sell 1,000,000+ copies. Bethesda has enough clout and talent to make that happen. Whether it's a 'true successor' or not remains to be seen. Either way, I'm not really bothered. I don't care enough about the Fallout franchise to be worked up about Bethesda possibly ruining the beloved series. Bethesda makes good games - just not games I like or buy. Fable and Dungeon Siege were good games with good reviews, but that doesn't make them relevant. Just because a game is a RPG doesn't mean it's my type of RPG.

Civ 4, is it better when all is said and done?

That 4-player session rocked. Stupid freaking raging barbarians -
Well, I'm not making any claims of being impartial. I have my own interests, after all - which are, mainly, to not waste time. Those mods with 5's got much more than 30 secs, actually. The ones with 1's didn't need it. If you don't write the mod in the proper language, can't write a single sensical sentence or don't actually follow the contest rules, don't blame me for throwing away the mod in disgust. I'm not actually going to bother messing up a voting system that already doesn't work. I am not going to go post all 300+ reviews in each and every mod page, especially not for those I deem not worth it. That would be a waste of *my* time. I give a 5 here and move on. This just says the mod didn't manage to captivate me. If anything, it gives somewhat of an indication for players who are looking for the better mods. As to whether my doing so negatively affects those mods for those people and might convince them of giving the mods a low score, I consider it a moot point - if they plan to vote in a fair manner, they should be giving all the mods at least a shot anyway.
-
We don't need to bash Bethesda. The dev quotes speak for themselves.
-
30 secs is a lot of time in assessing whether or not the author even has remote potential. There are lots of subpar mods out, and I've been more than generous in giving the ones showing promise a chance. If I feel that the writing is completely uninspiring and that nothing about the design or story even remotely draws me in, then the mod fails. I've willing to give people a chance, but I'm not going to tolerate crap.

You played Morrowind too.

Civ 4, is it better when all is said and done?

Well, just occasionally, really. Haha, guess who's having a 4-player civ4 session without you right now -

Yeah, from the civfanatics forums, it seems - as a whole - those who preferred 2 to 3 like 4, but those who preferred 3 don't. -
I want Ferret's babies ^_^

Eight ( submissions will be selected in total: * Three (3) modules will be selected by a panel of judges made up of recognized leaders in community modules development * Five (5) additional modules will be selected based on community votes at NWVault These top eight ( submissions will be reviewed by BioWare senior staff members Kevin Barrett and James Ohlen with the intent on finding and hiring talented writers. Further interviews and additional samples of your work may be required at the discretion of BioWare. 5 mods is a lot, and if those 5 are just going to be popular authors while less known ones don't even get played, then meh.
-
Yeah, I admitted being generous. It really depends on whether I think the author put a good effort into it or not. When I officially vote on NWVault, though, things will be a lot more extreme. I intend of doing my part in keeping horrible writers away from Bioware and giving the better ones a better chance. I can't help but think the contest is flawed. Given that so many of the winners will be decided by the community. Honestly, how many in the community will fairly play through all 300+ mods? If you only play the ones from the popular ones and ignore the lesser known potentially good writers, so much for the contest.

This is why I play good games in good servers focused on teamwork and tactical gaming.
-
Also, with these sporadic sessions, we could have multiple sessions going on. Some with just 3 of us, some with 4, some with all 5, etc. Depending on who's on. Heck, Jumjalum is technically in a session with me and Nick, though we haven't played in over a week Hi BB!
-
This is why I play online games.
-
Hmm, you know what. There are only 5 of us. Instead of making it be a scheduled weekly session, we should be able to have sporadic sessions when we happen to all be on. Perhaps we could be encouraged to be on more during the weekend, and that'll just ensure more sessions during that time, but flexibility will allow us more gaming time in the long run. This, of course, requires that we keep Xfire turned on when we're available.

Coop makes all previous Civs irrelevant.
