Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Palpatine displays his "weakness" just as Anakin enters the room. The only thing Anakin missed was Palpatine being disarmed and pushed into the corner. In my opinion, it's the optimal outcome for Palpatine because it lends credence to Palpatine claiming "I told you....the Jedi are taking over." But Mace and Palpatine are still going at it with the lightsabers when Anakin is powerwalking his way through the Chancellor's office. Trying to zap Mace would have given Mace more conviction that Palpatine should just be executed right then and there, since he'd be too dangerous to be left alive. Until Palpatine tried force lightning, he was merely "under arrest." With Palpatine's life immediately on the line, it forces Anakin's hand if he still wants to save Padme.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Well, Luke had never seen anything like that before, and he was making a defiant statement that he'd never turn to the darkside. Tossing away his saber probably wasn't the best choice though when facing a Sith Lord. He underestimated the wrinkled one I think Luke was pretty badass in Return of the Jedi. He was still the whiny farmboy in Episode IV and Episode V, but he really seemed to come into his own in Episode VI. I noticed it more when I watched it with someone who had never seen the movies before. She was pretty impressed with Luke's plan to save Han. He knew Jabba wasn't going to give up Solo, so he planted his lightsaber on R2. He anticipated that the rescue attempt might not go as planned and he may get captured....hence he could not have his lightsaber on him lest it be confiscated. (I think Leia trying to rescue him might not have been part of his grand plan....but even then, it got Han "free" of the Carbonite so that they could be together if they got captured). Luke had quite the foresight during the whole Jabba incident, and my friend was confused as to why Luke was seemingly overconfident the whole time...she thought he was just trying to bluff him the whole time. Perhaps he was able to use the Force to anticipate the future so that he could set all the cards in motion correctly. Luke in Episode 6 = Although, Obi-Wan in prequels = Ewan McGregor was the best part of the prequels IMO, and I really liked how his character grew throughout the movie. He was young and headstrong (like he told Yoda) when he was Luke's age. I don't think he was very comfortable with the teaching role at first, as he did seem quite critical of Anakin in Episode 2...although he just wanted the best for Anakin. By the time Episode 3 came along, he was clearly a wiser, and much more capable, Jedi. He accepted part of the responsibility of Anakin's fall, and I'm certain he had such a relationship with Anakin that had it been Obi-Wan holding Sidious at lightsaber point, I'm not so sure he would have been as willing to save Palpatine. This probably is also affected by Anakin's dislike of Mace (whom always seemed to undermine Anakin in Episode 3....not that Mace was wrong in doing so, but Anakin's biggest confrontations with the Council seemed to involve Mace).

Didn't they publish Rock and Roll Racing?

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Read above. There is none either way and it is not a valid way of illustrating a point either way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually that was exactly my point, and why I asked that question. I did understand that there was none either way. The reason why I asked it was because the other camp was hellbent on requiring proof, when there isn't any for either case. Evil will always win because good is dumb! Pleading for help does not mean he was or was not holding back. I'd be more inclined to think that Mace's cry for help was more sincere, given he'd have no reason to hold back. I dunno....in Return of the Jedi Luke seems quite capable ^_^

Interplay LIVES !
Actually, I'm pretty sure that Fallout 1 was released before Black Isle Studios became it's own entity. I just notice that it installs into Interplay directories, not Black Isle ones.

PST wasn't the requisite "quick" cash flow though. It has persistent sales....but sales alone don't indicate profits, as I would bet that a large portion of the people that played the game bought it when it was CDN$20 like me. Although I don't know when the bulk of the Fallout sales were, so they could be comparable. I'm just basing this on a loose memory of hearing Feargus talk about it on these boards.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
I don't think so. This thread is more about the "OMGOMG I'm right just cuz people...check out this proof...oh wait...my source has stuff that contradicts me??? Whutevah lalalalalalalala not listening cuz i'm soooo rite w3rd !!!!!ooneoneleven1" people versus the "look look look, I have something that indicates I might be right....what...helllo helllllllllllllllllloooooooo...look at this...no don't aflkja ARGH <bangs head on wall> type discussion. Since the other camp is so adamant about proof that Palpatine was holding back, when I tried to address the question and asked if there was any suitable proof that indicated that he wasn't holding back, I was ignored. Some discussion. As for the TIE.....I can't remember if it was story related or not. I remember they suddenly came out and it was like "Whoa! Hyperspace TIEs!" But I don't know anywhere that says the x1 did or did not have hyperdrive. I assume that because it's a prototype, it would be similar. But of course it could be a concept TIE and the TIE Advanced were the eventual production TIEs

More specifically, the TIE Advanced x1 prototype :D

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Actually they did a what happened to Vader WEG scenerio for the original SW RPG. The wings pop off leaving a sort of escape capsule (this was on the model version) and he floated off through space in a Jedi trance till someone got around to picking him up. Even if you take the film evidence alone Vader goes spinning off into space rather than blowing up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I prefer to just use the X-Wing/TIE Fighter video games that indicate that the TIE Advanced (which is what Vader was flying...well, a prototype of it) has a hyperdrive on it :D

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
What proof is there that Palpatine IS faking the fight? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considering I asked my question for all those that were claiming for an answer to your question...I fail to see why you asked it. Unless you were trying to be "funny" or something...we could play this game all night long. As for your question. There is none. But don't go pulling a creationist trick of claiming lack of proof for my point is support for your point. Just as there's no actual, concrete proof for Palpatine faking the fight, there is zerio proof that he isn't faking the fight. It is actually better this way as it would be stupid it was stated in the book that 'Palpatine has truly met his match....had he not summoned all of his skill, he would have died...he clearly is not faking it in this fight' or something similar. Having said that, there are numerous other posts that show Mace asking Anakin for help in the Novelization, stating clearly that Palpatine is "too strong." Nur Ab Sal and his supporters have completely ignored this point, despite claiming the novelization supports their point in some way shape or form. So I answered your question, now answer mine. What proof is there that Palpatine is not faking the fight?

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Hahahaha. Although we do see him survive the explosion. There's a quick shot right before the scene of them landing and celebrating in the hanger of Vader recovering his spin and flying away.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
It would be the best way to turn him. For Anakin to come in and see that Palpatine had annihilated everyone would probably look worse for him. Playing the helpless old man that needs Anakin to help him....and the fact that he is put in that helpless situation because the "Jedi are plotting to overthrow him." If Anakin saw him as a badass that could take care of himself....it'd likely cast his mentor in a different way.

There's no proof that he couldn't sense him

Notification for when KotOR 2 is actually finished
I'm not 'acting' surprised. What I am is disgusted by the shoddiest customer support I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing. I don't care about your cliches either. All I'm looking for is an update. Yes, that's right. 2 1/2 months ago an Obsidian Entertainment employee stated on this board that the patch would be out 'in a few days' - and since then... nothing. How is expecting a follow-up to that statement an 'outrageous demand'?!? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because I'm not confined to your narrow little world. If you notice, my post was a reflection of the PC industry as a whole, not your single request. Yes, that's right. No..it's not. It never is. It's basic psychology. Why are parents told to not give in when their kid is having a temper tantrum? Because it reinforces the temper tantrum. You may think you'll be happy with it...just like many people think that TV commercials don't affect them or anything like that. But it does. Furthermore, it also encourages everyone else and their dog to post requests. It may start out small...but it sets a precedent. I imagine you were a member of the BIS boards, when the same people that are now at Obsidian tried to be open with the community. As long as you hold every other game developer to the same standards. I'm surprised you even continue to play video games seeing as they all apparently have a complete lack of respect for their customers. Nevermind the a$$wipes in the community that ruined it for us all. But I guess hacking into developers computers because they missed a deadline is an acceptable action in your world.

Hyperspace Travel
Wouldn't there be some sort of action-reaction thing though that would prevent the Earth's orbit from actually changing, since everyone in China is orbitting too? Not that I'm sure it would matter..... Mass of earth is about 6.0 x 10^24 kg Average mass of man is 70 kg I'm going to ignore kids and women, which will give the estimate a high bias.... 1.3 billion people in China x 70 kg = 9.1 x 10^10 kg Which is roughly 0.000000000000015 or 1.5 x 10^-14 Earth Masses, or 1.5 x 10^-12 % of Earth's Mass. I doubt it'd be significant, even if they could push off with a force equalling a few times their body weight. Although I would still contend that we are a closed system and even if we were to all jump it wouldn't make much of a difference. I would think you'd need something exceptionally energetic (like Nukes or something....but even then) to make an impact on the orbit of the Earth. But I'm just speculating....I haven't taken Astronomy in a little while.

Would Mace Windu Have beaten Sidious?
Anakin is in the building while they are still fighting. He gets disarmed and looks "helpless" the instant Anakin enters the room. For all Anakin knows, there was just Mace bullying his mentor/friend. While I voted yes to Mace being able to win, I do think that Mace's "decisive" victory was a calculated risk by Sidious. And since everyone is demanding "proof," what proof is there that he ISN'T faking it? Simply being "beaten" is not proof, since both outcomes equally support either side. At no point in the novelization do I see "Palpatine is clearly NOT faking it...this fight against Windu is the real deal and he's fighting for his life, and if he doesn't give it his all then he's going to get owned!" Furthermore, I DO see in the novelization that Mace cries out for help stating that Palpatine is "too strong" for him. But to try and make sure no one can conveniently ignore my question, I'll put it again at the end... What proof is there that Palpatine is NOT faking the fight?

A Battlefield 2 thread
I never said better than Michael Jordan. But someone mentioned that it's hard to catch up to someone who plays a lot. Going through the same regimine as MJ, I would catch up to him (although I doubt I'd ever get as good...there IS some biological factors at play).

What R Yo Fav 3 Games Of All Times
Would the cause be "lead-poisoning." I would think most deaths related to bullets have to do with blood loss and damage to vital organs

Actually it's easier! It's diminishing returns If I practice basketball for a week straight, I will show more improvement than Michael Jordan, because he's already reached his apex :D

Do NOT buy a 360 on release.
Is it really "obsolete" equipment? If you're just looking to play XBOX360 games, would the new DVD player really make a difference?

Game Design Star Wars
If you wanted to SELL the game, it'd probably be pretty difficult to distribute the game. If you wanted to give it away, it'd probably be a lot easier. I know Lucasarts actually supports the mod scene, and the only stipulations they seem to have is the music, since it's John Williams' work.

Hand-Eye coordination can be trained. You think all those athletes were just born with those abilities? I guarantee that if you persistently played FPS games, you would get better at them.

Supreme Commander
Apparently their next Close Combat game is going to be an RTS style game. Whether or not it's like the old ones or not is hard to say. But I hear it will take place in the Korean conflict.

Supreme Commander
Yeah, it was cool that suppression fire and whatnot was actually effective. After being shelled by that 88 for a few minutes, even if I hadn't lost any men, I still had to accept the fact that the squad was as good as gone, since they weren't doing anything any time soon. It was bittersweet to hear the "We're pinned down!" when you gave an order :D
