I was finally able to get it going. I noticed in GRUB I could modify the command parameter, so I added "single" to the end of it and got things going. Thanks for the help.

I don't know if that makes him a "plagiarist." He enjoyed the story and let it inspire a play.

I'm not sure if I am. The only delay I can see in my boot is when GRUB loads up and lets me choose which OS to boot into. I did try mass spamming ctrl-x and ctrl-c during the boot-up, and was able to log in as root. But For some reason I was in a read only mode so I couldn't change my config

The biggest setback I think would be replaying the game. If it's too long, no one is going to want to play through it. If there's a way to skip it, then I'm less adverse to the idea.

I still find it unusual the a gun takes as long to slide the bolt back and forward like the Warren Report.

Which thread was this? If I didn't take part in it, then obviously I wouldn't know to look there. If I don't have a search critera I don't know what to search for. "games with short development" didn't immediately give the responses I was looking for. If the thread's were recent, you'd have no problem at least linking me to the thread (ignoring the fact that I probably would have taken part in them since I returned to the forum about a month ago).

I got a new monitor, so I didn't have much variety in my refresh rates while under linux. So I ran through a config to open up some more resolutions and whatnot, and it seems as though I am stupid and I accidentally put the default horizontal sync above the specs of my monitor. So basically, I need to know how to load up a safe mode (in Fedore Core 4) console so I can log in with 'root' and rerun that config file. Thanks.

I find Antialiasing to be buggy in a lot of games. I hardly use it because I don't really consider it to be much of a graphical improvement personally. I like Anisotropic filtering though.

What if it's not what you were hoping for? I considered enlisting in my military, but I didn't like the idea of having to be in it for 9 years (I was considering an Officer in the Canadian Army. 4 years of schooling to get my degree, and 5 years service. Even the 2 year requirement for NCM was a bit too much for me.

It does go on your resume. My friend basically got a job because he made the Half-Life Racer mod for Half-Life 2. And it wasn't even with a video game company either (although he recently just had an interview with Bioware). He's making another mod right now because he was surprised how useful it was for him getting work. Mods are big giant billboards saying "Look at me, I started this, and I stuck with it until it was finished, and if you look deeper you can see my mad technical skills...and check out my interface etc. etc." Mods are almost invaluable for a young programmer that doesn't have the years of experience.

I was hoping the expansion to Half-Life 2 would carry on his story. It'd be cool to see he and Gordon working in Parallel, even though they never realize that the other one is out there.
