  1. I'm surprised there was no coop mode. The game just screamed "Hey, get a friend and play along and it'll be teh r0x0rs" but noooooo.
  2. I'm thinking about it! (w00t)
  3. Both the previews I have read have stressed the importance of keeping veteran units alive, as their bonuses can be pretty useful if they've gained a huge amount of levels. It also makes "turtling" a little less viable, as I don't know how much you can level up (if at all) with no combat experience. But you can make a great city defender by having +bonus city defense and +bonus defense, which stacks up for an impressive defender of cities. I imagine Town Walls will give it's usual bonus as well.
  4. I switched to Difficult, and it's pretty much what I expected. I can still score fairly well, but the opponents are now impossible to knock off the puck, faster, and you can't even poke check them anymore. You thought Peter Forsberg was bad? I can't even knock over Daniel Sedin with Pronger. Yet they breathe heavily on me and I lose the puck. I'll give it more of a try, but it's hard to play defense when you're giving up 3-0 rushes (and that's while trying to play stay at home defense) because your guys now move slower, and their guys move faster. I get a ton of tripping penalties trying to poke check, and if I hit them they kind of wobble, but don't lose the puck. Unfortunately though, my teammate AI does something stupid usually and leaves the guy in front of the net wide open. I've lost all 3 games on difficult so far, 1 in regulation and 2 in OT. My best game at Medium was an 11-0 drubbing of Detroit. Peca was a 2 PPG man, I was a 2.5 PPG man, and I had the top 5 players in the overall points list. (Smyth, Me, Peca, Dvorak, Torres....Hemsky was in the top 10 though). Peca has like 12 SHG so far, and I'm like 30 games in. I think I've scored more SHG than I have let in PPG
  5. WHat do you mean? Alpha Centauri had customizable units in that you could set the attack power, defense, and whatnot. I don't think Civ 4 is the same way. It's more like having less overall units, but still having the Phalanx, Rifleman, etc. etc. (Although no more defense and offense stat, just an overall power stat), but as they level up you can state things like +bonus to defense, +bonus city attack, +bonus city defense, etc.
  6. What difficultly level are you playing on? I'm on pace to absolutely demolish point total records. 215 points? Meh, no biggie. 92 Goals? Big whoop
  7. Yes I remember all that. I haven't heard whether or not they have or have not included those, but I'm betting on not. I heard that they were going for less units this time, but the ability to specialize them in a huge variety of ways as they gain experience instead. Maybe some of the bonus' will be civ specific.
  8. I doubt he's played either of those
  9. It is crap. Of course you'd know. Baiting is your speciality. Uh huh, suuuuure. Riiiiight. Fortunately your opinion is irrelevant.
  10. That's not judgment. That's determining our expectations. Stating that something IS crap is a judgement, and can only be determined after experiencing it. Thinking that something WILL be crap is an expectation. But I'm sure you're capable of making sure that ALL good games are bought Is a poorly marketted game crap? Many people think Geneforge is a great game, but it doesn't have the money to market it. Because you aren't interested in a game doesn't make it crap. Especially when considering a discussion where people are mentioning games they enjoyed from around the world. I mean, name me one good game from Japan?
  11. Nay, there's an entire thread discussing whether or not it is a financial failure.
  12. Fortunately linearity (or non-linearity) has little relevance on whether or not a game is good
  13. Well, they should like Sex too. More people in the workforce means more tax dollars to accumulate!
  14. I never said you were demonstrating Nationalism. You seem to be confusing Nation with State. Nationalism does not require a country though. Just because you haven't played the game, doesn't make it crap either. Just means that you haven't played the game. I find it odd how you can pass judgement on a game without playing it.
  15. Nah, looks to me like he already owned it
  16. Meh, excitement doesn't have to come with people blowing each other up, or other "bleeds and leads" news headlines.
  17. Hehe, that's a horrible movie. I remember laughing at it when I was a kid!
  18. Same reason why Vampires suck on our blood for the hemoglobin?
  19. He was teh r0x0r in that movie "Labyrinth"
  20. It's all of them in one sweet package: Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, I suppose that's ok then. After all, regardless of the prices, it's still "Buy Fallout and Fallout 2, get Fallout Tactics free!"
  21. Nationalism does not require countries.
  22. Maxis was acquired by Electronic Arts in 1997. The Sims was released in February 2000, and the first previews are early 1999. The Sims did not exist prior to Electronic Arts' acquiring the company, so saying "the fact that EA didn't come in until after the Sims series started" is wrong. They named many. Simply because you don't think they're great games doesn't make them not great games.
  23. Ah, that explains it. I'm still in December in my season.
  24. I'm interested in Empire at War. Doubly so when they stated that they were going to delay it past the Christmas rush and release it in February to ensure quality. I guess we'll see.
