  1. It's an interesting game that literally lets you take control of any country that exists at the time of the scenario (1936, 1938, 1939, 1941, and 1944 scenarios exist). Though you might have limited fun playing as Tibet You control research and production of your country, as well as trade and diplomacy. A wide variety of unit types exist, in land, sea, and the air. Doomsday is coming out soon, which includes the original HOI2, as well as some other neat features (spies!). It also includes a new scenario, as if WW3 against the Soviets was sparked shortly afterwards. It also extends the base game from 1947 to 1953.

I didn't see the games so I can't really comment People do go through slumps. I think Pronger looks slower than he actually is because he's so big though. Of course, maybe he actually was dogging it in the Olympics. A lot of people felt that Canada didn't play with much heart at all. He is also playing on a broken foot.
  3. If the antagonist is the focus of the story, then they are no longer the antagonist, but the protagonist! :D
  4. Meta for the win! I'm hoping it creates a new paradigm for software development, to help combat rising costs. It's more work for programmers, but I think it's mroe than offset by not needing millions of content artists.
  5. The sounds and background music was some of the best I have heard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I loved the music playing in most of the bars. The "you're in a creep place" music for the haunted house was spot on!
  6. I always preferred the PS/Gravis style controller.
  7. I don't fight it...I just give in. It's winter 1941, and much of the Soviet Union has crumbled beneath me, as has the UK. Pretty much all of Europe is mine, just have to whoop-ass on Romania and Vichy France....Portugal still exists...but they have annoying VP, so it'll be a while for them.
  8. I've seen some places speculate late 2006.
  9. Yes. It's much more cinematic too. The combat in GalCiv is "move your unit into the other unit's space, do some math and determine a winner" like most turn-based strategy games.
  10. I have no beef with the ground combat. I think it's pretty straight forward. Though it pales in comparison to the Space Fights, which are fantastic.
  11. If you're talking about Malkavian bizarreness, then yes...it's used in every line. There's also Dementation which is used quite frequently as well. I remember convincing someone that I was their pet turtle that they flushed down the toilet. They were so ashamed and apologetic :D
  12. You can truly create your own character. Probably moreso than any CRPG.
  13. I have heard of that game, but not the company.
  14. I prefer the term martyr.
  15. How huge are these German companies?
  16. I played the game for approximately 3 monthes straight (literally no weekends), and got paid to do it. I think that is better than a free copy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still say ouch, though it would only matter if you were actually still interested in playing the game. My friend at Bioware was able to procure a copy of NWN: Diamond.
  17. No free copy for you? Ouch.
  18. It looks innovative and different. My biggest hopes for the game have nothing to do with the actual game, but the design of it (procedural, procedural, procedural).
  19. I'm guessing 2008. THere is no release date though.

I remember listening to people bitch about how he was underperforming and whatnot. He has really come on as of late....11 points in his last 11 games, now 13 in his last 12! I also loved all the people that complained about Horcoff being in the #1 spot. A PPG isn't too shabby at all. And Rem Murray's an Oiler again.
  21. Then why play CRPGs? Your bestest CRPG game ever has piss poor character visuals. Even today with amazing 3D graphics, there's still rather restrictive limits on how character can look. Is it even really possible to have a character "be yours" in a CRPG anyways? IMO there's waaaaaay to finite avenues to explore in any CRPG, excepting maybe a game like Morrowind. In Fallout I have to be THE vault dweller, and in Fallout 2, I have to be the vault dweller's decendant. Baldur's Gate => Bhaalspawn. Morrowind's pretty open, in that you're just a prisoner being put on an island. Gothic series is a bit more open as well.
  22. Then I guess a real time iteration is metagaming....it's not part of the rules either. http://www.answers.com/topic/pause Seems like the action is stopped while waiting for you to do your thing. The great thing is that you could spend about 27 hours determining what to do for your next turn, just like real life!
  23. While you are waiting, the game is paused. By your definition, it's metagaming.
  24. In that case, every turn based CRPG employees extensive metagaming. Though I'm sure you have had no problems employing this tactic....
